Lexus is 100% the smarter option but you never get “that feeling” in a Lexus or when you look at it, you also don’t get any feelings of anxiety or impending doom… a Lexus is just that.
Here in Europe these are popular with caravanners particularly the diesels with the DSG gearboxes Ironically the DSGs hate towing things and end up wearing out the transmissions before they need to be replaced, people treat them like Automatics when really they are just automated manual transmissions without a torque converter, I have rebuild several of these DSG gearboxes on Kodiaq's and Octavia's and they were from cars that were used for towing Caravans or boats, don't buy and VAG car with a DSG if you want to tow anything above 600kgs you will pay dear for it. Buy the 6 speed Manual its a tough unit and will never go bang. They re also very dirty transmissions servicing them stinks and the fluid used in them once it gets on your clothes and skin can linger for days, I absolutely hate them, German engineering is only great when its new and working .
Could be a death trap with the DSG delay, I thought VAG had that sorted out after the trouble they had. All VAG had to do was use a conventional auto box that has been proven to be the best and safest.
The Kodiaq RS with the twin turbo diesel is an amazing sporty package with little compromise (when warrantied). You aren't going to get an SUV with as much interior space for the footprint that has proper overtaking ability.
We purchased the 2020 Kodiaq model and it has been a regretful decision. Service costs is high with brakes change setting you back $2000 (twice already), 3 battery replacements, constant electronic issues and recently, engine transmission shutdown whilst in drive mode (waited 5 wks for parts supply). Service performed at Skoda all times and still issues. This is a car with pretentious blings but unreliable engineering considering the money spent. The car was driven mainly on city roads and only completed 40,000km in 3yrs. Speaking from experience only.
Sounds to me like your Skoda dealership is lying to you... They have a habit of doing that here in the UK too. Speaking from experience my local Skoda stealership just told me my front discs and pads were both 90% worn and needed replacing without delay. They said they could get it done within an hour and the price was £755(GBP). I told them I'd do it myself. Imagine my surprise when I took the wheels off (which Skoda hadn't bothered to do) and measured the pads which were about 50% worn and the discs were about 35% worn. The total cost of brembo discs and pads from my local parts store was £270. So they basically wanted to charge me £485 for an hour's labour. My advice would be to find a reliable and honest 3rd party mechanic next time.
These are everywhere in EU, very reliable and the 2.0 diesel is VWs best engine. Rear seats are very shallow because 3rd row and they look like turds tho
Why is it, in this day and age, car companies have the same issues from brand to brand, particularly with euro companies? I swear they must use all the same parts suppliers.
Global Škoda sucks but India and China have there own cars specifically built for the market but reliability is a big problem with these cars unless you live in Europe apparently it’s cheap to fix vw grp cars in Europe
I have a 2018 Sportline diesel with luxury and tech packs. Just ticked over 240000km and no issues to report. It’s been through mud, on the beach, snow and ice. We often travel up the Hume Hwy to Sydney using only one tank of fuel. Lots of handy features not found others SUVs. Umbrellas, ticket holder, heated back seats, adjustable suspension etc. It’s a pity they don’t make a diesel engine anymore. It’s been a great versatile car.
I found a better buy was the Haval H9. Cheaper. Same engine although better water pump. Better gearbox. Can actually go off-road. Hands down more reliable.
Motoring jounalists all rate Skoda's very highly. I've driven many VW products in recent years but decided to try a Skoda after experiencing very poor after sales service with VW. What a huge mistake. Took delivery with 3 faults and it took about 3 months and 5 visits to resolve. The car is a 2023 model and I've already had another 2 faults needing attention. To say that Skoda's after sales service is shocking is an understatement. I now understand why Skoda's market share is so low. Purchase a Skoda at your own peril.
@@eponymous7910 I had a Passat 2.0TSI many years ago. That dreaded DSG started to shift weirdly and advise from a friend is to sell it before the tranny goes. And the car was just 3 .5 years old with 63,000kms on it
If you don't need the third row seats, you might be better off with a Lexus NX200t for similar money. Better build quality. Tech is probably not as good, but overall would be a better car.
Skodas are just Volkswagens that failed quality control, you’ll meet a lot of nice tow truck drivers (god knows I did). The interior is a nice place to be while waiting for tow trucks though, apparently later model Skodas have 2 additional drive modes have been added 1. Up on the hoist at the mechanics 2. Trudging up the steps to Vcat (I’ve been there with mine). Dealer customer service is terrible and most Volkswagen/Audi dealers won’t touch them and as Skoda dealers are far and few between you’ll be driving long distances to get to one. Just buy a used Toyota.
Steer away from this crapbox.. it's unreliable.. especially the dq381 gearbox .. if you drive in hot climate, the engine overheats and develops more problems.. endless moneypit

Wich engine?
Diesel or petrol?
Please review Honda Odyssey.. they are good 7 seaters
Why buy a euro SUV?
Never heard of keeping cold drinks nice and warm ??? Must a Aussie thing
Its called Zoom Zoom sarcasm....were an odd bunch.
@planestrainsdogsncars433we know that you're a bit odd.
Can't wait for the 2025 Kodiaq 😊
Please do the Skoda Octavia
Skoda is forgotten during communism in Czechoslovakia but brad Skoda is one of the oldest in the world Laurin & Klement build first car in 1905.
Saw this guy driving around in a BMW XM the other day. He's like 6'8 in person too... wtf
Perhaps it would be useful to know which dealers, (of ALL brands), we should avoid please. Does anyone else agree?
It's a legal minefield if you were to publish a list like that.
@@georgepappas4628 Yes, but wouldn't it be good to know for us poor customers. You only really know how good/bad your dealer is when it's too late.
@@georgepappas4628 A five star rating guide shouldn't be a problem though.

These are everywhere in EU, very reliable and the 2.0 diesel is VWs best engine. Rear seats are very shallow because 3rd row and they look like turds tho
If you want more power get the vrs version
Why is it, in this day and age, car companies have the same issues from brand to brand, particularly with euro companies? I swear they must use all the same parts suppliers.
The mechatronic unit is the big known issue.
Global Škoda sucks but India and China have there own cars specifically built for the market but reliability is a big problem with these cars unless you live in Europe apparently it’s cheap to fix vw grp cars in Europe
After owning a Superb for 6 years, nothing will really make me buy another large Skoda again. Electronic gremlins galore.
I still feel the skoda superb estate is still a better all rounder
Skoda is a cool brand with a cool history behind it. I think their cars look nice, although they are unreliable.
I've had 3 Skodas. Never had a single issue. My two VWs though, despite sharing mechanicals, have been a nightmare.
@@BenGoodbrandSkoda have done a pretty good job of avoiding much of the most problematic VW hardware over the years.
@@BenGoodbrandReally? I’m pleasantly surprised to hear that.
They are producing the diesel engine in the new model , 2L 190 Hp
Not in Australia though.. only for Europe
Tiguan? - No, don't buyt it, not cheap to repair.
Ugly Tiguan? - Yeah, you should buy it!
I found a better buy was the Haval H9. Cheaper. Same engine although better water pump. Better gearbox. Can actually go off-road. Hands down more reliable.
I'd take an excellent condition 80 series landcruiser please
Firstgear is a problem very dangerous car stalls and jerks
Motoring jounalists all rate Skoda's very highly. I've driven many VW products in recent years but decided to try a Skoda after experiencing very poor after sales service with VW. What a huge mistake. Took delivery with 3 faults and it took about 3 months and 5 visits to resolve. The car is a 2023 model and I've already had another 2 faults needing attention. To say that Skoda's after sales service is shocking is an understatement. I now understand why Skoda's market share is so low. Purchase a Skoda at your own peril.
Skoda is just another Volkswagen
Cheaper version with more equipment 😊
Better built
@@eponymous7910 I had a Passat 2.0TSI many years ago. That dreaded DSG started to shift weirdly and advise from a friend is to sell it before the tranny goes. And the car was just 3 .5 years old with 63,000kms on it
By all reports everywhere, the Czech built skodas are built better compared to their VAG brands.
Hi mate , Do the superbe review ,please
Skoda = Volkswagen = Money pit
Let me guess, you're a Toyota fanboy 😂
Japanese cars are reliable yes, but they're boring. They're like driving around a toaster or microwave.
7 year warranty. Won't be a problem for a long time.
If you don't need the third row seats, you might be better off with a Lexus NX200t for similar money. Better build quality. Tech is probably not as good, but overall would be a better car.
Must have been parked at the end of the runway !
The DSG doesn't belong in this kind of car. A torque converter would be far smoother and cover up the lazy off boost engine
Karoq has got A torque converter!
Skodas are just Volkswagens that failed quality control, you’ll meet a lot of nice tow truck drivers (god knows I did). The interior is a nice place to be while waiting for tow trucks though, apparently later model Skodas have 2 additional drive modes have been added
1. Up on the hoist at the mechanics
2. Trudging up the steps to Vcat (I’ve been there with mine).
Dealer customer service is terrible and most Volkswagen/Audi dealers won’t touch them and as Skoda dealers are far and few between you’ll be driving long distances to get to one.
Just buy a used Toyota.
There is no way you've ever owned a Skoda.
@@BenGoodbrandthis.
@@BenGoodbrand yep I owned the Craptavia, I say owned it spent a year at the dealership not getting fixed till the VCAT claim
Scotty Kilmer would say........Run away and don't buy one lol
Scotty Kilmer diddles himself in a high mileage 94 Toyota Celica with ice-cold A/C while looking at a picture of the Chairman of Toyota.
So basically everything fails in this car..
Adam, the Ford model T ford has more going for it than the piece of crap you featured on this video.
please review more cars in shorts ;-)
I HATE shorts...never watch em, even okinui
Yeah VAG door handles are shite
Five different flavours? Did they teach you that at Motoring journo school? That and a new model has dropped. GRR.
jesus does anything work on these
Somehow it just looks very boring.
Of course lots of things go wrong in this Skoda and every other car... its down to cheap Chinese components.
Pretty sure almost none of it is Chinese. maybe Thailand, Japanese and European made. But not china.
Components made all over the world, they are all made to the manufacturers specifications. Where made is irrelevant
You won't find many components made in China. Where did you get that idea?
Rebadged VW?No thanks.Once a shitbox always a shitbox
Second
Steer away from this crapbox.. it's unreliable.. especially the dq381 gearbox .. if you drive in hot climate, the engine overheats and develops more problems.. endless moneypit
You mean like Western Sydney, regularly 35 degrees plus? Two years and no issues. Try again
it was the DQ 200 and DQ250 that were problematic in earlier years. Not fitted to the Kodiaq.
It's European no way would l buy any thing European
If you don’t take care of a car and/or can’t do basic maintenance and repairs, euro is not for you, otherwise fine

This car is fugly. Looking at it hurts my eyes and soul. Remember there is stelvio, f pace, macan, levante etc.
All those cars in completely different market
A Camry is fugly. How about a Rolls Royce, Bentley or Maybach? FFS🤡
@@daweigo6851 in terms of price not completely. It's easy to find a stelvio or fpace in same price range. Also he claimed SUVs are boxy and soulless. Easy to make that statement looking at kodiaq😂

@@makaw2006 show me a stelvio or f pace that is anywhere near the price of a Kodiaq. You'd be comparing a new Skoda to a 4 year old Alfa or Jag that would have way more mechanical and electrical issues than any VAG product. FWIW the Stelvio looked like a 10yo design 5 minutes after launch, and the Jag is all design, no engineering. You're comparing apples with oranges.
Just buy a Mazda they are more reliable

"VW"
thats weird, in the UK and the rest of europe the Skoda Octavia, Superb and the VW Passat are known as one of if not most reliable in their classes. Maybe the Skoda / VW built in europe are different ones?
Most, if not all of the Skodas we get are built in Czech

@@bikeman123 hmmm well i know the passat B8 was / is still a great and reliable car. I'm in the market for one and have been doing extensive research. Seems not much can go wrong with them tbh. I think their bad rep comes from the hefty bills when getting serviced / fixed at the VW garages.
