In this video we wanted to do and unboxing, review and teardown of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to find out why it was given a 4/10 on the repairability rating.
We took a look at the inside and outside of the phone, searching for new repairability tactics and admiring some of the phones amazing features.

Yea, I agree it's more of a 7/10. I have no idea why ifixit rated it a 4/10. Also screen repair prices are vastly cheaper than the iPhone 14's. 😂

I think we gotta remember that ifixit rates the iphone as the most repairable phone after the fairphone, am starting to think that they base their repairbility scores on which phone is easier to open up, not repair assesment or part serialization.

@@l3abol_uci191 well trying to make a component actually work on an iphone is much harder with their software locks, am just saying i wouldn't trust ifixit's scores considering that hugh jeffreys did a video debunking all of this crap.

It might be my speculation, but once i downloaded an app to get info on cpu, without granting any permission whatsoever to the app, it already told me most of the specifications of the phone that would likely be not even present on the box or in the spec sheet of shopping sites, that alone shows how we're walking in a forest with our backs turned towards the danger

Maybe you recorded the s23 ultra video in 4k 60Fps, which means it can not change the camera module while you are Zooming in. It seems like you started recording with the ultra wide camera. Before you start recording, you need to change the camera, or you can change the settings to 4k 30fps so it can change the camera while recording
We did a few other tests and I much prefer the iPhone when it comes to video recording, the s23 ultra still takes good video but it just doesn't feel as natural

That's part of the pre installed screen protector. That can just be replaced anyways.

While I was using my S23 Ultra, it suddenly got turned off and won't turn back on. Checked charger, battery and display at the service center. No issues with that. They suggest something is wrong with the motherboard. They haven't opened it up entirely since it would affect the warranty. As per their findings, the power required to boot up the device is not reaching the motherboard. Dont know what causes this issue, because I only used original samsung 45W charger and cable, haven't plugged it on a power bank or car, never used that much while charging. Anyway all my data will be gone it seems since I have to replace the motherboard as per their suggestion. Do you know whether anyone else faced the same issue and any alternate solution?

Really sad to hear that people now say this is a "removable battery".
When I heard you say that I thought the battery was just laying in there and could be taken out like in old phones where you just had to lift one side and there were some spring pins that made contact to the battery.
But this is just like any other battery in modern smartphones, maybe a better mechanism to get it out than the pull tabs, but nothing special.
I wonder if we need to replace the sim card tray if we need to take off the whole sub board.
Sim card tray doesn't need to be replaced. The sub board houses the charging port and the SIM Card reader. But the tray itself just comes out from the bottom of the phone.

GH96-15526A, costs around 25-45€ depending on the shop you buy it from, its not the cheapes but can easily be replaced. Just remove the hot glue like material around the camera with a pick tool and replace it with your new front camera.

Yes they are always in the same direction... At least when i repaired and did teardowns on them they were... Hope this helps
Did you turn on raw photo setting? Otherwise the iPhone only takes photos in 12mp instead of the full 48

That little bit of wiggly screen is not an air bubble btw Samsung explained all that, it's not a fault and won't affect the screen at all in day to day use.

Fair enough, I just find the videos to come out a little bit grainy and overprocessed.
@@PhoneRepairGuru go to camera settings and put on high bitrate videos, then go into pro mode and see how good it is. Also turn on hdr for videos
