How to clean your dog's ears

In this dog grooming video, groomer Jo Croft (previously Hart) shows us how to check your dog's ears for signs of infection and how to clean them safely and effectively.
She explains why checking and cleaning a dog's ears is important and how the type of ear will dictate how often the ear needs tending. She also demonstrates how you gradually introduce your dog to the idea of having their ears checked so that they are happy with it.

I'm getting my first cocker spaniel in a few days and, although I do intend on asking a vet for all the necessary instructions when my puppy arrives, I still wanted to know at least the basics beforehand, and this video managed to calm me down while teaching very clearly. I've had dogs my entire life, but all of them had standing ears that did not require much, if any care at all, so this aspect of a cocker's care is a very new territory for me, which obviously made me a bit anxious 😅

My puppy is 11 week springer spaniel and her ears are dirty as heck. I just got ear cleaner and the directions say to spray directly down the ear and use a cotton round to clean it out. I also see so many videos of dog groomers spraying dogs eats and cleaning the same way. Im not sure what is correct though.
