I was never a big fan of Mosquitor and never understood Pixel Dan's love for the character and toy. That is until I got a Classics Mosquitor. As soon as I opened the package and had him in hand, it was instant love for that figure! I can't explain it as it just hit me back then. I still love the figure. Something about black, red, silver, and purple colors together seems to catch my eye. And he's a creepy looking dude. So yeah, I'm late to that party but man, I'm glad I became part of the Mosquitor fan club. :)
Got my Mosquitor Origins figure today. It's awesome finally getting this. Especially as I still have memories of seeing this one on the shelves back in the 80's.
I am getting mine today as well, but I can't help but think that we have Pixel Dan to thank for Mattel bringing him out relatively early in the Origins line.
Fantastic video as always. Sadly I never collected classics due to a mixture of not having the finances at the time, not really knowing of the line's existence (heck, your channel helped revive my interest in the MOTU franchise) and the possible headaches of getting them shipped to the UK, but I love always seeing these videos, especially when it comes to the "behind the scenes" elements. Also, your pictures of Spector vs Mosquitor had me cracking up with laughter. Loved the blender and bug spray pictures in particular. And it's interesting you mentioned people being handed their MOTU figures from older relatives. I'm an only child myself, but my mum once told me a second cousin gave me his MOTU collection when he out grew the brand, although I was too young to remember that at the time.
Ugh! Getting MOTU items shipped to the UK was like playing roulette with Schrödinger's hand grenades. Usually, they took four to six weeks, but sometimes they arrived very quickly. (My second Point Dread & the Talon Fighter arrived in five days, for some unknown reason.) And on a couple of occasions, they took more than two months to get to me. Usually, there'd be customs charges. Sometimes, though, even a large crate would slip through without getting held to ransom. Usually, ParcelFarce would send a timely customs charge notice, but after my nearest depot in Exeter shut down, the useless bunch at Plymouth sometimes wouldn't even let you know they had your stuff and were waiting for a payment -- I still haven't laid eyes on my Power-Con 2018 exclusives, despite the patience and helpfulness of the Power-Con crew, who are in no way at fault for the foul-ups. And as for ordering through Digital River . . . my therapist says I'm not ready to fully address the issues yet. The phone crew were very helpful and obliging and often helped place orders for me when the site was busy or acting up, but the website glitches -- oh, the website glitches! I . . . I need to lie down, now . . . .
It was expensive collecting them in the UK as customs would often hold the figures for ransom and I'd have to pay an extra £18 for them to be released.
I was glad you added some more insect legs but had also hoped for some wings finally. It never made sense to me to have a mosquito character that had no wings and couldn't fly.
I loved that toy as a kid. It was one of the last MotU toys I ever bought.... well.. that my MOM bought. Yeah, the blood was cool, but I just loved his head. I could never understand why he didn't have wings though. Those blood tanks with the Hord symbol were great, but I seriously thought he should have little mosquito wings. As an adult I get it.. money was probably an issue. Love the pics of Spector kicking his butt. When I went to Hawai'i I did the same kind of thing with a Stitch toy I got from McDonalds year ago. That's the kind of background stories I love to hear on your channel. You have had an awesome life, sir.
