Grew up in the Rio Vista, Fairfield area. Went to my first A's game in 68. Their first year in Oakland. Have been an avid A's fan ever sense. Can't help but think that they have been the west coast Yankees farm club at times. The A's deserve better!! Come on Oakland!

As a boy my favorite team was the A's even tho I'm in Seattle. I love how the A's have the lowest payroll but still field a very good team year after year. They are a team of young rookies who are always the under dog yet play like champions....Year after year....

I would be so upset if they moved out of Oakland. I don't know how I would get to the A's games in San Jose without the help of bart. StAy in Oakland!

Andres Jimenez The A's need a new ballpark (Oakland or San Jose)somewhere in the bay area. I admit I don't the full details of this topic but my 2 cents as an outsider. I only visited the Bay area 1x but a compromise site as a MLB (Yankee lol)fan is this. IMO build a 40,000-seat somewhere near the Jack London Downtown Oakland Bart station. It could become like a west coast version of Camden Yards. The A's (and Raiders too) both need new separate homes. I believe it's true about horrible plumbing problems, lack of equipment etc. With That said, hopefully Mr. Wolfe and some new partners would pay almost all of the costs of a new ballpark somewhere in the Bay area costing at least close to $1 Billion. Just my takes.

The Oakland Alameda Co. coliseum is home to 4 A's pennants and at least three Raiders championships. It is hallowed ground, despite it's technical shortcomings. The A's are the most successful A.L. franchise (In terms of World championships) West of NYC. It's difficult to understand why they should move.

The owners really. The A's are about to build a new ballpark with private financing, thus Dave Kaval as president and in charge of those operations now. They still can't afford a massive epic 1bil type plan though. Raiders have cheap ass Mark Davis who didn't want to build in Oakland or the Bay Area for that matter anyways, thus his lack of trying and good faith negotiations. Warriors are building with their own money similar to what the A's are about to do, plus the owners are wealthy to the teeth. The A's rushing of late is probably more to do with the league policy of revenue sharing that is about to change. Adapting for the future I suppose.
Edit: Scratch that! A's are going all out with an epic billion ballpark it seems lol. Since everyone else bailed, the A's are going to take control of both Howard Terminal and the Coliseum site to redevelop which is going to pay for the epic ass ballpark at the water.

The A’s have moved across the country from Philadelphia, a stop in Kansas City and eventually the Bay Area. There stadium was a dump twenty years ago (the last time I was there) and apparently it hasn’t improved. Maybe old Cleveland stadium was worse, maybe Tiger stadium was worse... but eventually they were replaced. None had raw sewage floating around it them. Time had come.

I miss Tiger Stadium. 84 World Series game 5 in particular.
I don't think Tiger Stadium was ever in the condition the Oakland Coliseum is in, when the Tigers were calling the old ballpark home. And keep in mind, if it were still in use, it would be days older than Fenway. No lead was ever safe in this ballpark.

The Giants are blocking the A's from moving to San Jose because of "territorial rights." The Giants have claimed SJ since 1958 when they moved from New York. If somehow, MLB allowed the A's to go to SJ, the Giants would move their minor league franchise.

Here'a a thought. Convert the Coliseum into a baseball only facility ala what was done in Atlanta after the '96 Summer Olympics. While the conversion is taking place, the As' could share Pac Bell Ballpark w/ the Giants for say two years as with what took place with the Yanks sharing Shea Stadium w/ the Mets from '74-'75.

But now that's a non-issue. 2. BART is right there with a bridge to the stadium. But, Bart and public transit is in San Jose too.

Either rebuild the stadium or move. I'm from Fremont but I don't mind the drive to Oakland. But the point is the stadium. It's not like they want to move they want a better stadium for the players and the fans. People might argue that they can't leave cause there is so much history there, but look at the Yankees. The house that Ruth built gone. I care about the A's. They deserve better. So either renovate or move out of Oakland.

They'll never be in San Jose and they're not staying in Oakland. Unless the owner starts to seriously consider Sacramento, which he will not, the A's won't even stay in California. The owner won't be alive in 10-15 years, I don't understand why he's concerned with money at his age. Just build a damn stadium. If Sacramento can build the Kings a new arena and save their team, why can't the A's owner do it with the kind of revenue market in the Bay area? You pull in revenue from the MLB and lease it to the Raiders for even more. It CAN be done.

He sounds like the diehards in Montreal before the Expos moved to DC. They have great fans, just not enough of them. And all these decades where the seats in the lower bowl are a mile from the field, and they never once reconfigured the damn thing. This has been going on for 30+ years, I’m from DC and it was always the A’s threatening to move there, or St. Petersburg since the ‘80’s. Hell, Charlie Finley wanted to move them in the late ‘70’s when he figured out he couldn’t make payroll there. That’s FORTY YEARS OF SELLING OFF PLAYERS. They should make a statue of Billy Beane, if it weren’t for his genius, they would have been gone. All Wolff has to do is figure out which city will get the most transplants fleeing California because it’s a staging area for the UN dystopian vision, and he has his answer. You’ve got Boise, Salt Lake City, Vegas, Portland. Just get it over with and move to Las Vegas, and MLB can scheme to funnel the 40 million tourists to the ballpark all season. Put the Park right off the strip just like the football stadium that’s being built. It’s just another hotel tax. It really is that easy. Thousands of fans came from other cities to see hockey games this year, and had a little 2-3 day vacation at the same time. It’s all here in Vegas, the code has been broken.

are entitled to operate it at a profit. If the "we"s" don't like this, don't spend on them.
He can "take" it wherever the owners see fit. The microscopic customer base spending on tix etc. isn't
enough for the modern-day big-time sports industry, the Gi-ants realized this and monopolized the high
end spenders in what really is less than a 2 MLB franchise market - unlike NY, LA or Chi..
A'z customers use the mausoleum as an excuse to not spend, basically they're cheap.
A few years ago, A'z had reduced tix prices for selected openings and the el-cheapo outfield seats were almost
full and the regularly priced seating was almost empty.
"Updating" the mausoleum would be like putting lipstick on a pig, the round multi's were not good for baseball
or football. KC realized this in the mid 60's and if Charlie O. had any patience the A'z could have had a baseball
only facility there instead of the mausoleum. Instead, his lust for "new" - no matter how bad the layout was -
    led him to Joke-land.
@ 3:06 the fantasy that the A'z "...somehow...they'd have the same revenue base that the Gi-ants have..."
is just an east bay'er showing the inferiority complex so common there. Same @ 3:12, blimp TV shots of run down
neighborhoods surrounded by freeways aren't interesting. No different than Newark (the Joke-land of the east)
    being near NYC.
Small crowds being loud doesn't pay the bills in the big-time sports industry these days.
BTW - almost all pro franchises when scheduled to play in Joke-land stay in 'Frisco hotels, been that way for 40+ years.
Gi-ants cultivated the deep corporate pockets on the peninsula down to SJ, those companies aren't interested in
the A'z partly because of their long term deals (sponsorships, advertising, tix etc.) tying them financially to SF.
Far fewer potential big dollar partners in the east bay.
Neither the franchise or the customers "deserve" anything unless you are willing to pay up to get what the Gi-ants
have done, but as stated before the "we's" and the owners want it on the CHEAP (fully taxpayer funded). Gi-ants owners
realized in the early 90's that they would have to raise their own capital to make their franchise work, A'z owners
should have had the same foresight then but they sat on their hands.
@ 7:17 this is just self-serving bs by a low-talking local pol. MLB can't and won't "do something" (forcing) the Gi-ants
to give up on potential future revenues in and around SC county/San Who-say without being compensated by the A'z -
who want SJ on the cheap.
@ 7:44 Lew's thrashing about finding ANYONE to blame, his owner group bought a pig-in-a-poke and wont admit it.
He knows that there isn't a better market elsewhere to use as a threat to move so he's stuck having to blame others.
As long as there's types like these involved there will not be a resolution.
Before you get San Fran-whacky on me, I'm not a Gi-ants fan but I "lived" in the area long enough (and thankfully away
from there also) to be able to see this mess clearly without the fog of self-serving false pride.
Oh, and enjoy the big one too!

I would like to see LA to have three MLB teams. Los Angeles Dodgers is in the National League in the West Division, Los Angeles Angels is in the American League in the West Division.

David Tosh the angels are not in LA. The angels are just fucking around with their name. They play in Anaheim not los angeles.

David Tosh The Angels is totally not Los Angeles! Artie Moreno took the LA part because it's more marketable than Anaheim. Two different cities and two different counties.

First of all change the name of the stadium back to Oakland Alameda County Stadium. O.co has to be the most idiotic name for a stadium in baseball.

It has returned to that name. The naming rights deal with O.co has ended.

You can't blame blimp camera showing views of San Fran in the background of the stadium instead of Oakland. It wouldn't look as appealing to see a guy getting mugged and a drug deal going down on a broadcast....

AT&T Park was privately financed. The City of Oakland shouldn't pay one rotten cent for a new stadium. If that means the A's leave then oh well. Go watch the Giants. As least they've won this decade.
