It's hard to make a conscious decision and change your social circle from one of distraction to one of growth. Finding a mentor might be challenging but sticking with him is an even greater one. It must come from within you to continue to push and do what the mentor tells you. Great points in this video, Pat

Episode #36 - Everybody in our life falls under two different categories: assets and liabilities. We can't fully get rid of liabilities, but we can minimize them. Mentors help us to answer our questions.
How to choose a good mentor:
1) A mentor must care about you
2) A mentor must encourage you
3) A mentor must be willing to challenge you
4) A mentor must have a vision of where are they going
5) A mentor who has a great example (good marriage)
6) A mentor is willing to give you tough love
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. There's always someone else with more knowledge, and experience.
Get rid of as many toxic people in your life and find mentors that care about you, is willing to guide you, they have a vision for themselves, are successful in the area of mentorship you are seeking them out, and are willing to straighten you out whenever you're messing up. Realize that when one of your mentors is straightening you out it's wise to put your ego aside, listen, implement the feedback and grow.
Lesson: We have assets and liabilities in life. We can always diminish our liabilities, but we can never fully eliminate them. We can build up our assets though. Mentors are great assets as long as we find the right ones. Look for certain traits like in mentors. Make a list of what is important to you in a mentor.

Just finished reading Rich Dad Poor Dad a couple days ago so it was pretty interesting to see the assets/liabilities from a different perspective.

We need to accept tough love because 1st it’s the only way to grow. Olympics coaches are not easy going. And 2nd mentors don’t have problems finding mentees but mentees do. So better listen 😂

great insight information patrick i just recently got a mentor for the first time about 3 weeks now and we met on instagram and i went to his startup and it was a great experience learning something from him
At the moment I'm building myself up to fidn a mentor. My old self (smoker, overweight, doing nothing) wouldn't be worthy of a mentor. I do believe I need to take some steps first. If I can go up to successfull people and say: I quit smoking, I lost 30kg (65lbs), I learned myself basic accounting, I following evening classes,... but I'm looking for a mentor.. my chanses of somebody saying: ok you are worth my time is much better.
Watching every video- Social Net worth: people in your life are either assets or liabilities. What increases our assets? You do not have all the answers and so need to surround yourself with people that can give you answers. Mentors are the key to answering your questions.
