  • Finally we got our hands on the Shearwater Teric. After reviewing the outstanding Shearwater Perdix AI we couldn't wait to hit the water with the Shearwater Teric and review it. Happy to say, it did not disappoint. This is a great dive computer and easily one of the best out there but shouldn't you get the Perdix instead?

I have one, it’s awesome! I upgraded from an ancient Scubapro Uwatec Smart Tec to this. Totally overkill for my recreational warm water use, but the bright display, inductive charging, customisable screen without hooking up to a pc, watch size, sold it to me. It’s expensive, but it ticked all the boxes for what I wanted in a computer. Watch size means you keep it on your wrist between dives and don’t have start looking where you left your computer when the next dive starts. Easy transfer of dive data to your smart phone via Bluetooth. For nitrox it saves several gas mix settings so it’s easy to switch between dives. Time To Surface (TTS) is nice when you are maxing out your nitrox bottom time. You can use the Aqualung transmitter, it’s cheaper than the Shearwater one. Use a 6 inch hose to attach the transmitter to the first stage, that way it won’t be mistaken for the opening valve of the diving bottle and nobody will try to lift your gear by the transmitter, which would snap it off and totally suck on a holiday.

I love my Teric! I use it is OC TEC with two wireless pressure transmitters for Sidemount. I can instantly see Tank 1 and Tank 2. The AMOLED screen is a must have when you're 100' down in the Great Lakes!

StrigoiVampirism When not in use, in my experience, it can sit for a few months and even then it was still at 70%. If yours is dying in weeks, I’d contact Shearwater. Their customer service is amazing.

I was hesitating between this and the Suunto D5, I ended up with the D5 with the Pod. In direct sunlight the D5 has better readability, (sailing, sun and glare) its thinner, in watch mode It can last over 5 days and can now get phone notifications. So between dives this watch gets more use than paying for a dive computer only. (I dont do technical diving)

We are in the works with Cressi, Scubapro and Mares to send us new gear to review but sadly the corona crisis has postponed everything. What do you mean with a different viewpoint?

I used to have a cressy 400$ entry computer. Complicated to use, not clear. The light and the number of dive saved wasn't good either.
    I'm colourblind, it doesn't help.
It took me 1 month of research and compare when I thought about changing to something serious.
You can put in comparison the Mk1 and the Sunto, they don't propose th quality of this Terric.
When I got it, it didn't have a French update, and even in English I got to use it and understand it on the same day I opened it.
    Love it, but it's expensive.
I love the huge number of dives you can save, I can free dive with it and scuba, it's small, and the application and the logs are perfect.
(I have small wrists and I don't mind it, it's a boat holiday watch and a computer)

What about battery? Does it require charging every 2-3 days. So a hassle, such crappy batteries :-(

Hi, I've been following you since last year and everything in your videos is spectacular. The sessions are great, there are several funny moments, the quality is amazing... this channel is absolutely brilliant and you helped me a lot with the majority of my curiosities about the world of scuba diving, thank you so much. Anyway, I would like to make a suggestion (if it's not a problem): I'm convinced that to add a really funny video on your channel, you could make a compilation of all of the moments where you or your friends get "caught" on video while peeing in the water (my uncle relieved himself in a diving session and that was hilarious), it's something like a "ops moments" compilation, what do you think? I'd be so so happy to watch it, let me know, bye!

At 5:08 you say Perdix instead of Teric. Easy mistake.

50ft Below yes it comes with two scratch guards that cover the face. You don’t have to buy any aftermarket ones.

Sorry. Respectfully disagree with your review. Especially since "you're not a watch person" (I think I counted 3 times)
