  • Checking a firearm on American Airlines was a challenge this trip! Flying with a firearm may have some inconsistencies so watch this video. I used the same container to check my gun on an airplane plenty of times but it was denied this time!

Wow! Best and most straightforward video on how to fly w a firearm. Don’t like the airport experience at all so typically if I can’t drive I don’t go but have wondered about what it is like to fly w a firearm and you just cleared it up for me. Great video! Thanks for the advice! Quick tip: I don't recommend the sig case either. Lock the box with 2 locks and get a magnet. The external hinge is exposed. Use the magnet to pull the pins out and the box will open from the back. Someone could easily steal it and replace the pins...

Wife and I flew to Las Vegas last week with my hand gun. I already had the metal Snap Safe gun case. Its exactly like the one you have but uses a key. I purchased it for $9.00 at Academy. It comes with a cable that you can lock it down in your vehicle or to a bed frame or something sturdy. I use it most of the time in my truck to secure my firearm when I can't carry it in a place that doesn't allow firearms. I used it to secure my firearm, two magazines and a 20 round box of ammo on our flight to Vagas. I just declared the unloaded firearm with Frontier airlines from Dallas to Vegas. I had to fill out a declaration and open my luggage in front of the agent. She placed the declaration card on top of the metal case holding my firearm. Locked up my luggage with a TSA lock and off to Vegas.Got to Vegas and picked up my luggage on the carousel with all the other luggage. Same process on our return flight. I did tape my name and phone number on the metal case if TSA needed to contact me. Never heard anything from TSA going or coming back from Las Vegas. It was my first time flying with my handgun. Over all a neat experience.✊🏾

He also said that if your achol levels were over the limit while carrying a firearm that you would be arrested. He encouraged me to carry but only if I'm not drinking. As we all know, achol and guns do not mix. I'm not a drinking man so I don't that does not apply to me but if I did I would not while I'm carrying.

TSA specifically allows you to have TSA locks on the firearm case, and have explicitly allowed this since 2018.
While the rules in 49 CFR 1540.111 require you to have the key and only you to have the key, this is theoretically impossible to strictly follow, as no key is unique, and all reasonable locks are pickable. I'm not able to find what the punishment is for not following these rules.

Lol. That was the point of the video. To show that there is no consistency across airlines or airports. If there was, I would have gotten stopped at my home airport which would have been much less of an issue. I would have taken. It back to my car and been done with. And like you said, even though It passed many times before, that doesn’t mean it will all time. I wanted people to know this. Thanks for watching!

This guy doesn't mention the difference between US domestic travel and international travel where guns are concerned. The gun laws of the destination country govern what happens to your guns.

@@greyman470 we are no less a civilized country as the US, in fact, more civil.your laws mean nothing to Canadians unless they are in the US. What is stupid about that? I see the supidness in your comments though. I hope you realize the US leader was never the leader of the free world, as it was so often stated. You're whiners and whingers, always have been. So arrogant. In international fora your representatives are shunned as much as possible. You are bullies remember Vietnam? Political wars killing millions of innocents. Always a war for you people. And then there was Cheney's war in Iraq. You're out poking big sticks at the countries (bears), so you can keep on killing. You introduced nuclear weapons that you then used. POWER CRAZY. You have the biggest prison population in the world. You figure in the bottom half of the scale for education. You allow people to die rather than helping them I witnessed the removal of an aged woman from a hospital because she had no way to pay. And yet the Evangelicals are heating up the airwaves begging for money that they need to keep their lifestyles up.
You talk a good talk but you don't walk the walk. And stop buying Canadian flag 🇨🇦 pins and pretend you're Canadians so as to get treated better in foreign countries. Unfortunately the first time they shout for the waiter the gig is up. They refuse to try to say goodbye and hello in the native language. The Entitlement just oozes out. Your country is falling apart and you people worry about masks and protests. STUPID TO THE MAX!

    Honestly, it's not an inconsistency.
It's regulated, without exception, to fly firearms with "hard" cases.
    www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition
    That's a soft case, sir.

You’re right. Better put, the knowledge by agents and enforcement is inconsistent. I recently (2 weeks ago) flew again and the agents in Birmingham had no idea how to process a gun and at first gave me trouble about the hard case and said it had to have two locks on it. The case in this video can’t have two locks. They had to go and consult TSA. That was American Airlines. Thanks for watching! 💪🏾💪🏾
