I'm glad you're doing this series. I'm building my first sauna brick right now. I can already see several mistakes I've made but I'm also using a mini main asteroid and I've sucked a lot of heat out of my Magma biome already. I'm getting close to needing to rely on Petroleum power. I keep throwing power at my problems but I'm trying to learn ways of not having to do that. For my sauna I'm going to use a tricked out water heater to get it going.
I got bored once and made a dirty brick so cold that I was collecting liquid co2 from it and dumping into space. But then you need to deal with pipes bursting from cold damage so it's not that great in the long run
This is all cool stuff and you could even further complicate it by adding logic gates to turn bricks on and off, depending on the state of the other bricks or other conditions using a whole bunch of and gates and what not. Really awesome wizzardtry
For Gas crushers, you can simply use one timer AND a Buffer gate. Set the timer, all doors will open as usual, but the buffer gate will delay the second and further doors. Easier than setting two timers and having to follow such strict rules.
I have a challenge for you once you have done the next video, how would you convert an active industrial sauna to a cold industrial brick? you would usually have the industry already set up by the time you get access to the materials needed to make a cold brick which is why I have never done one... how would you go about swapping? would you need to completely rebuild?
Not completely. Put the aquatuner in the steam room, run it with super coolant for a 50 cycles at max cooling and then transfer some of the storage and piping over.
Man I never know where to go in this game, I always get to the second planet, with steel and a aqua tuner and stuff all going then I just don't know what's next lmao.
Hidden Echo @ 7:25 I built an ethanol + petroleum generator setup in a dirty brick with the generator at the top and the polluted water traversed back and forth to cook the ethanol distillers on the way down.

What makes it dirty, again? Asking for a friend. He wants to know if there's such a thing as a clean brick, and if not, why you keep saying dirty and adding other extraneous modifiers. Like, brick. Which brick? The power brick. The steam brick. Why remove what it is from what you call it, to call it something it isn't, which is not connected to what it is or does in any way?
You had to spend that much time explaining the specific purpose of the specific thing you did, because the name means nothing. At least SPOM and mechanical filters and petroleum boilers tell you roughly what is happening with them in like two words. I can conjure up a mental image of all three. When i try to imagine something with your naming scheme, i find a massive room with no bonuses that just has anything you want in it. Which makes it like anything else in the game you spent no effort on. Just something you did that you'd have to explain because... you like it this way, i guess. Or kids do. Both?
Im sorry but its painful to watch you use 2 timers instead of a buffer or filter gate. you could also atleast put a meter and send the rocks in 5Kg or less packages so they dont come out at 600c.
I prefer the two timers for simplicity. Each system is on its on automation and sometimes that make it easier for people to understand and implement (even me ha). I def would recommend a meter and more rails on the debris.

Glad you are enjoying it and good luck with yours!
Can't wait to see the cold brick!
HE at 7:25, about to be crushed out of existence like so much CO2
Nice job :)
I got bored once and made a dirty brick so cold that I was collecting liquid co2 from it and dumping into space. But then you need to deal with pipes bursting from cold damage so it's not that great in the long run
You could make it even colder and just have an autominer mine the solid CO2.
This just so happens to be part 3 :)
7:27 mini echo about to get chomped!! 😂
Nice catch!

This is a great idea.
An interesting video. That's what is it
I tend to use a single timer, and the automation that sends a signal after it gets a signal for so many seconds, for my gas crushers.
For Gas crushers, you can simply use one timer AND a Buffer gate.

Nice tutorial / info nugget Echo
I've not yet built a dirty brick. Might have to give it a try in my next colony
Great video! I'll try to make one!
10:00 - would it not be better to run the rails through the metal tiles two rows lower, to speed up the heat transfer?
Def, I made the example to quick and fast, would def do it with a few more rails back and forth.
Dirty bricks seem easy to set up for early game setup. Would you recommend building a dirty brick or sauna first?
Sauna first all day.
Dirty bricks only if you HAVE to use petro generators.

only Echo can make something as clusterfuck as that work flawlessly and still look messy as F
I really liked the hybrid steam room co2 room brick. That looks wicked easy to set up!
7:25 Silly dupes, getting in places where they don't belong (hidden echo)
Nice.
I always wonder why you don't use the airlock and insulated door mods to make things a little easier
Because the guides are meant to help the general player, including those who don't use mods
Because mods tend to have chance of self-destructing your save file after every update
What is that little snip tool you have? I don't see a setting for it or any obvious mod
Pliers mod. Check the description of my vids for a link. Great mod, should be baked in imo.

I like it. I need to remember to use the drips as potential cooling.
Why not put the slickster ranches in the same room as the brick though? It would save space and power.
We do this too.
Trick: petroleum generators have outputs at building temperature
So cooling the building cools the outputs
What ever happened to the max paradise series

Hi, i have a question. I've noticed you have something like autoplumber and other tools. Is it a mod or something?
The tools you see are in sandbox and debug mode. Often when I am testing systems or recording tutorials you will see me use them.
hidden echo at 7.30 i guse he cant handel the pressure
lol, nice catch.

Oh, also not connected in any way to the CONTENTS of the "brick", if THAT'S even really what you mean when you say it.
