Got to see/hang with him when I saw Knower in Joshua Tree. We chatted for a couple hours. He’s such a genuine, kind, humble person. Got to help him pack his drum set after the gig. What an inspiring being.
It's so obvious that he is too damn smart. He not only pours emotions but also insane intelligence to his music. That's what captures me in the first place. I'm very happy that I will be seeing him (and other members of his troupe) in Den Bosch this November.
I thought this man would be super duper 'eccentric' just from the music videos I have watched over the years. I was completely wrong. A *talented musician who is well adjusted and has a *true passion for music. Bravo.
2:55 - Long ago when I was a child I did the exact same thing! I would bang my head against the pillow, humming, until I was tired enough to go to sleep. It freaked my parents out! I wish they were still around to find out I wasn't the only one, Lol. And I also began with the drums at a very early age, and became a pianist/multi-instrumentalist.
That's rad he shouted out Kevin Sawka. The first time I heard Louis play and I was trying to find something to compare it to, KJ Sawka was the only drummer I could think of...
it is not very usual to me to watch a whole one hour interview without being irritated by the interviewer, great job! thanks for that! heel erg bedankt!
the part where he talks about the "cube of great drummers" and being 20 and hitting that wall... i can relate honestly, being at that point myself. maybe im delusional but i think i have to try getting to that level, just as he said
I discovered the existence of the Louis Cole universe through Clownc0re (still denied by Cole and Gendel?). I think I have never been so much in awe about an artist as with Louis Cole. Incredible portfolio of amazing, out of this world music and skills. Likewise for Gendel and Wilkes btw.... 2020 has been amazing just because of this. I hope many more music will be made by Cole and friends. Knower, ClownC0re, Cole, collabs with Domi... Please, keep giving. I will keep on buying:)
@@seanmcdonough8815 I am almost sure about it. The drum technique, the physique, the keyboard bass solo's. Check ruclips.net/video/CmXc4t7vFyg/видео.html ... Fantastic interview. Love hearing two people totally dedicated to their craft talk to one another - you really get to hear the passion for music and all the really interesting background technicalities. Something you don't get from a more generic interview.
Not many have the talent that can do all at one time what he can do. I knew he was the drummer of clowncore many years ago. One the sound is identical along with the style. Same drum setup, and basically like a left-hand drummer with a right-handed drum setup. Louis is the man. I also love me some Genevieve
Louis Cole is DEFINITELY in Clown Core...check out the video for "Computer" and watch the mouth of the drummer - beyond being a damn sexy mouth, look at the Bugs Bunny teeth and that Madonna gap...it's a match!!! Check it out!!!
LOVE that he said Jack Dejohnette 1st as an influence! I got heavy into Jack from the same live at the Fillmore West Miles album back in the 90s. You could hear that Jack was one of the innovators of drum and bass on that album. He was just playing crazy James Brown style swing patterns that were really aggressive and we're part of the origin of drum and bass feel. I also play Jack dejohnette drumsticks and have played them for over 20 years. Excellent stick!
This is a great interview, with one of the more talented musicians/ songwriters out there. I've seen Knower twice in Philly, and they delivered on both occasions. Let's get those vaccinations rolling, so they can play out again!
Great interview! I love Louis Cole's music and it was so was cool to get a feel for a what an interesting, funny, and friendly person he is in addition to his immense talent. Inspiring! 👏
Discovered LC around 2015/16 from RUclips and was blown away by his playing. Something told me he was a really cool guy too. Amazing songwriter and performer as well. It's so funny that just yesterday I thought you were primarily Steve Gadd based Channel and now this 😃 I gotta get back to ATTEMPTING to brush my teeth laft handed. Very hard 4 me.
Wow, Ruben (and Louis!), what a wonderful video. So nice to hear you both talking so naturally about such great music/drumming, etc. I just booked a ticket to see Louis in London, Nov 16th. I saw him at Heaven a year or two back. That was a solo gig. I’m really looking forward to hearing a whole big band! Will LC’s next album be available at these upcoming gigs, I wonder? I hope so. Big love to you guys, from the UK.
Anyone know what happened to the great Louis cole and Domi small-concert set? The one where he talked about dubstep and made heaps of mistakes. It was my favourite. I used to watch it every day. Please someone upload again or link me!!
I wonder how many gigs Louis has politely declined in favor of sticking to his own thing, I can imagine lots of artists offering him touring musician gigs.
