Did anyone notice that this car has over a third of a million clicks on it and still performs like this? I have same Benz and it also still performs like this.
I’ve been trying to replicate this on my 500sel. Changed gear at 5000 rpm, yours changed at 6000 rpm. Need to work on that… guess I’ll just keep flooring it and hoping
I took multiple timings using a stop watch....once the needle started to move until 100 kph it took 6.9 seconds. He started in D (drive), which starts the vehicle in second gear unless you kickdown (maybe his kickdown didn't work). If he had shifted to first and then geared up before red lining, he would have accelerated considerably faster. My 1989 300SE does zero to 100 kph in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 kph. I'll consider buying a gopro camera and post a few videos....but, first I need to replace my fuel pump and fuel strainer. The car was designed to start in second gear for a smoother ride, so that your rear passengers wouldn't spill their drink or drop their cigarette.

by default yes - this car starts in 2nd gear always. except when you push gas till kick down :)
