Video Game Themes. What can I say about Video Game Themes that I didn't say last week? Hmm...emotions? Video game themes are capable of invoking many emotions within people, although that's kind of an obvious fact now. Hmm...a neat thing about Video game themes is the fact that multiple emotions can spawn from a single track. Sometimes battle and boss battle themes can start off all intense and dark, but then the chorus could be something melodic to help give the player some much needed motivation. If it wasn't clear already, I love video game themes. Especially in genres like JRPGs. So much so that I've written quite a few myself. Which brought me (and some of you) to a single question. At this point, could I make a video game-style theme without hearing it? And...within 30 minutes? Find out today in "Attempting to Make a Video Game Theme Without Hearing It in 30 Minutes". I hope you enjoy!

well yes but no Beethoven went deaf when he was writing his 9th symphony "Ode to Joy" hopefully I spelt Ode right. and I believe he used the wooden floor as a note detector for how they sound with vibration but idk I haven't done my research on how he wrote the 9th symphony

Sylas, the Unshackled Music is subjective. Don’t discredit the knowledge and research put into polytonal and 12-tonal music theory. “Wrong” notes can be used to great effect when used intentionally. There aren’t a finite amount of ways to approach a single idea or emotion.

@@MrShyguyRS Yeah, while I don't use microtones and stick to the Western 12 tone system, I more often than not play outside of the scale in a song rather than playing a full song only in scale. I often use all 12 notes in a single song or sometimes in a single riff. It's a lot of fun when you know some music theory.

The remade one is stellar as always, but the first one somehow has a lighter quality to it that really really brings out the guitar and the heckin amazing beat. I really like this. The wrong notes kind of have it some character and a bit of a spooky feel. Like imagine a combat game you know not a lot of blood and injury is just shown at the health bar but all of the sudden it turns into a seriously brutal like cannibalism and torture and shit and the screen gradually starts to turn red until the screen and audio is all messed up and it’s just like “error please restart” or something like that. Just an idea that popped up in my head haha. Crazy how much inspiration music can give you...

It truly shows you have a firm grasp on your software and have an understanding of the structure of your songs. I uh... Whoa. Even the "wrong note" could have its place. Sometimes a discordant note just fits, gives it a weird point. I think it does in this case. Is like, the first couple of times you hear it,is like EW WTF but then it's like "well it actually fits better than it should wtf". I mean... you're amazing. The first vid of yours that I see, and I'm already your fan. I'm doing a videogame, actually doing music of it too, and holly fuck I'm far for this greatness.

Great song and challenge! One thing I would like to note though is I've noticed the "Bum, Bada-bum, Bada-bum" a lot in your songs and I know musicians have things that tie their songs together, like you listen to most A7X song you can tell its theirs or what album a Linkin park song is from just by the chords but still, it's really noticeable. Just food for thought not a criticism at all
