I don't think it's incorrectly taught for the most part. Rather different parts in the world will tell it differently depending on what side they were on and their perspective. Great example for this the 80 year war between Spain and the Netherlands. I was taught that us the dutch were finally free and spain was oppressing the dutch and mistreating them. But someone from spain might tell it differently. Really you'll get what really happened if you take all the sides and pick out all the facts that BOTH or more parties all agree up on
Big Long_Now_Nirvana Edison murdered the guy. No joke. It’s new evidence that came out after this. In a journal found by someone confirmed to be Edison’s, dated sep. 20 1890, said something along the lines of “I was called from Dijon. Prince is no more. Murder is not my thing, but it had to be done”
I totally agree. Really in regards to Edison in general, it's known that he stole ideas pretty often so I really think schools should stop giving him all the credit. At the very least mention that it's likely most of what he's known for probably wasn't truly all his work.

From now on i will always correct people by saying *Louis Le Prince* was the true inventor and father of film. Hopefully this video blows up, helps, spreads and brings Louis back to life with his name in the history books as the true father of film.
Back in high school history, I learned that Thomas Edison didn't even invent the light bulb. From what I remember, Edison had an assistant who invented most of it and then Edison fired him and claimed the invention.
Maryam Yeah, Thomas Edison was a real asshole. He also destroyed Tesla's legacy too. I don't think he had any qualms about offing people for his own benefit.
I come from the same country as Tesla and I have to tell ya, overhear we have museums and events dedicated to him where we eveb display things that Edison stole from him. His hometown is very proud and they kept his house in its original state.
My theory is simple he was robed sometime after his brother saw him last, note that in 1890 and still today Paris was notorious for petty crime like theft and it was not unusual to be robed in Paris especially if you you were not from there. During the robbery, one or more men tried to steal his brief cases which probably escalated into some type of fight between Louis Le Prince and the robbers, probably because Louis knew that important documents were in the brief case and he did not want anyone to steal his idea. The fight probably ended with Louis beaten and the robbers angered after the discover only drawings and nothing in their minds of important value. Now angered and pissed off that Louis did not have anything important in their minds in his briefcase, they then probably proceeded to toss his briefcase and papers along with his either concision or unconscious body into the river. Due either to his injuries or unconscious Louis probably drowned. Note: the French police pulled a unidentified man who look very similar to Louis Le Prince from the Seine River the same day he went missing.
His friends were waiting to pick him up in Paris. This would mean that he would have been "robbed" at some point during his trip to Paris. This raises the question: how could this robbery have gone unnoticed? How could they have dumped his body without anybody else noticing? Not that it matters, but Louis was a large man standing at 6'4...
This is why I have no respect for Edison as an inventor. He was an incredible businessman, even selling off electricity to the dismay of Tesla, but not an inventor. He even bought the patent for the lightbulb, then paid people to make it better.
Terence Andrei Calma as well as cats and dogs. edison was just a horrible person all the way around and does not deserve the respect and recognition so many people give him.
That why I live be the quote by j Cole “if they don’t know your dreams than they can’t shoot em down” best to do everything yourself because other people would scheme and take advantage
Stories like this frustrate me to no end!! It’s so unfair for Le Prince and his family! Let’s not forget, Edison killed a fully grown elephant trying to prove that Nikola Tesla’s invention was “dangerous”! Edison was a lying sack who is NOT as great as everybody thinks he is!
Hey ace, Slow Down. There’s plenty (unfortunately) of real life evil and racial discrimination/violence you could be directing your anger towards. The original comment didn’t make any mention of race and she wasn’t trying to obfuscate any seedy ideas either. Save your breath for the real dirtbags, is all I’m saying.
Side Note:- In 2003, the Paris Police, while going through old archives discovered a photograph of a man who strongly resembled Louis Le Prince drowned in a river near to the tracks where the train Le Prince boarded was supposed to be going through, its most likely Edison's men stole his suitcase in the train itself and threw him out of the train into the river, the date on the photograph was also written around late Sept 1890, around the time Le Prince disappeared.
Edison was a fucking selfish-ass trash-ass greedy monster and Tesla for sure never got the recognition he deserved. I literally didn't even learn about Tesla in school ffs.
Exactly! Tesla's electricity was supposed to be free and energy efficient. Edison's direct current (combustible) electricity is actually harmful to the environment in comparisons to Tesla's alternating current which was in a sense using the electromagnetic fields of the earth in a way that was harmless. Also, the reason Edison's idea won over Tesla's is because people would have to be charged to use it, meaning more money for the people providing it. If you are interested you should look up the Ancient Egyptian pyramids, solely the middle one where scientists are starting to believe it was used as a type of electricity for the civilization, JUST like Tesla's tower.
Because he wasn't going to charge people to use it, like I clearly stated earlier. People (by people I mean the one's controlling our technology) don't want to provide us free anything because then they would not be making any money. It's pretty simple.
My theory is that when Louie boarded that train, the train traveled into an alternate universe where Louie showed his motion picture and was crowned the father of moving pictures.
My heart aches for this guy. To have spent so much time and money coming up with a revolutionary invention only to disappear and have someone else be known in history as the inventor.
edison was actually known to have stolen ideas from others. alot of people would tell you that he invented the light bulb, but it was 2 men called humphrey dave and joseph swan, and to give proof, they actually won a law suit against him over the stolen idea of the light bulb
Also, it was Warren LaRue who invented the lightbulb. Edison and everything he “invented” was a lie, and I’m kind of angry about it because there were amazing people who should’ve gotten credit for progressing science. In case you haven’t noticed, I have strong opinions on history.
not quite. but he did took credit one way or another for many inventions including the lightbulb (it really was, combined effort of many different people, but he's known for it as perhaps the biggest credithog of all)
It's clear that Edison stole the idea though. He lived in the area at the time that Louis disappeared along with the briefcase and lastly, I am sure Edison knows the rules of a missing person patent, so he took this time to get it out there before Louis's family did
I come back to this episode often, and am always filled with rage at the injustice of his name being forgotten, and with sadness at how hard his family continued to fight for him. Louis, I promise if anyone eever brings up Edison as the inventor of moving pictures, I will absolutely correct them.

this one was really interesting. it never ceases to amaze me how much history books actually teach "history" incorrectly.
Really you'll get what really happened if you take all the sides and pick out all the facts that BOTH or more parties all agree up on
The USA does this horribly
You know what they say, "history is written by the victors"

Or how his patents were useless until 1897, and Edison was projecting movies in 1896
This is literally so depressing. I loathe people who take other people’s ideas. It just isn’t fair. I never realized how disgusting Edison was.

Back in high school history, I learned that Thomas Edison didn't even invent the light bulb. From what I remember, Edison had an assistant who invented most of it and then Edison fired him and claimed the invention.

I never liked Edison.. He used to harrass Teslaa who could have changed the world. That guy had issues from childhood.
Atharv Chaudhary Tesla was a lunatic who was nearly incoherent by the end of his life.
死んだ赤 He was completely insane at the end as he started loving pigeons but sometimes old age does that to u and u can never question his genius..
Elon Musk doesn't named his company after Edison
He killed many animals with electricity not just a elephant.
Then this sounds like you solved the case.
is there a source for the french police thing I'm doing a report on him
@@poopypants9670 no this is my own assumption
woah...this theory is actually good 0-0
His friends were waiting to pick him up in Paris. This would mean that he would have been "robbed" at some point during his trip to Paris. This raises the question: how could this robbery have gone unnoticed? How could they have dumped his body without anybody else noticing? Not that it matters, but Louis was a large man standing at 6'4...
Thomas Edison: The secret ingredient is crime.
sprinkle a bit of theft and murder on it, too

Thank you BuzzFeed, for this education.
This is why I have no respect for Edison as an inventor. He was an incredible businessman, even selling off electricity to the dismay of Tesla, but not an inventor. He even bought the patent for the lightbulb, then paid people to make it better.

I mean Edison also fucked around with Tesla's inventions as far as I know, so I'm really not suprised about him being involved in this 🤔
Edison was a fucking selfish-ass trash-ass greedy monster and Tesla for sure never got the recognition he deserved.
If Tesla's electricity is harmless why aren't we using it to fix our problems?
It isn't, it also wasnt proven to accually work
Because he wasn't going to charge people to use it, like I clearly stated earlier. People (by people I mean the one's controlling our technology) don't want to provide us free anything because then they would not be making any money. It's pretty simple.
it just hit me that we call them “movies” because they move. English is so lame and I love it

Edison only cared about money. He’s a thief and a fraud, stealing other people’s work and patenting them so they can’t take credit for it.
Also, it was Warren LaRue who invented the lightbulb. Edison and everything he “invented” was a lie, and I’m kind of angry about it because there were amazing people who should’ve gotten credit for progressing science. In case you haven’t noticed, I have strong opinions on history.
Yeah Edison didn’t really invent anything, he just bought others people’s inventions and patents
not quite. but he did took credit one way or another for many inventions including the lightbulb (it really was, combined effort of many different people, but he's known for it as perhaps the biggest credithog of all)
Edison did the same to Tesla smh
It's clear that Edison stole the idea though. He lived in the area at the time that Louis disappeared along with the briefcase and lastly, I am sure Edison knows the rules of a missing person patent, so he took this time to get it out there before Louis's family did
Thomas Edison didn’t invent movies, they should change the history books for that and give Louis Le Prince proper recognition
