I thought maybe the Ilil isnt “lil” but maybe illionois. Like a mistake of reading the capital i as a lettercase l. And the 35” is part of a coordinate, if its 35” latitude, it’s nearby Fayetteville, north Carolina. Even though the case is in north virginia, the name of the city with the same name is hinted, like it’s indirectly saying thats where the man came from: Fayetteville. Instead of outright saying Fayetteville, North Virginia, it’s using the 35” coordinate of a place that coincidentally has the same name that is required to cross a border.
Maybe they were taken to Illinois, and the letter is saying 35” for someone to find the city of the same name, the boy is from Fayatteville

13:40 This photograph is the reason I believe the children must've survived... In a True Crime Podcast, Sylvia (the youngest sister) gave an interview mentioning that Louis gave his brother Maurice the nickname "Frankie"... so Louis might've actually sent this picture to his mother as hint that he was still alive. Maybe they were scared to directly contact the family?
Some people online said that Ilil could actually be supposed to stand for "Illinois". Or that the numbers could be a zipcode. (Car plate is unlikely).

The father was probably a Marxist or someone who was relatively left-wing, who fled Italy because of fascism, like a lot of Italian emigrants (many artists and Trade Unionists left Italy during WW2). He may have thought that he could be more outspoken about the atrocities under Mussolini in America (free country, etc), particularly after Mussolini was executed which had already happened around the time of this case. But his community was mainly Italian and probably fascist. It's desperately sad.

I can see at this point where the case remain unsolved is because probably at that time immigrants especially Italian residing in the US were treated "unfairly" by the us gov. or locals.. so i agree with the term that this has something to do with class relations and societal conflicts among both countries as we can see at that times the world war still ongoing and societal conflicts are occurring everywhere. we can conclude that the family couldn't get much help from the authorities like the federal bureaucracy because i can say that they all working up together to cover up the case of the missing children and that feds and FBI were corrupted as well as they try to really tear down the family.. i really hope the parents could find the truth in the heaven.. probably the most saddened tragic case of all time

He said they looked like these people who he knew and two is still alive he said. They were Apparently Italian, and this was probably 10-15 years after the fire. He said he was real good friends with them and even started dating one of them. It didn’t work out between them and they broke up still being friends. The person he dated was Martha. She didn’t have the name and he said there is no way they are just doppelgängers. Here is what he said they died of.
The supposedly Maurice - Lung Cancer 2004

Mafia. The Mafia 100% paid off the key people in the town. The Mafia were gaining power fast following Prohibition, and gained some influence over the government following WWII (where essentially the US used the Mafia in Sicily to gain power back from Mussolini). The Sodders lived in a town with a fairly large Italian population. I cannot think of an adversary as powerful as the Mafia, or another organisation that has a history of adopting and selling out children to punish parents. Unquestionably a shady Mafia play.

I am 100% convinced they were kidnapped and members of the police and fire departments were covering it up - possibly because they were either involved or payed off. There is also evidence of complete incompetence too, with 10:46 being evidence that the Fire chief was not mentally healthy... There is also evidence that the officials were just too lazy to want to deal with a big kidnapping and arson case - after all, the operator for the emergency line did not answer, and the fire department took 7 hours to arrive.

Assuming the kids were kidnapped, that must've occurred before the fire. When Ryan said George tried to go back for them but the staircase was on fire, it's very unlikely that the remaining kids would've survived a possible escape or survived had they have burned. Same goes for the kidnapper (again assuming this was their fate). The hour between the mother hearing the noise on the ceiling and waking up to smoke must've been when the kids got kidnapped.

Were the firefighters also Italian? What happened could have been a community-wide cover up. The children were kidnapped. Everything in the video they mentioned is clearly the entire community covering up the fact that they kidnapped the Sodders children and shipped them out to other family's. and I bet they threatened the children so they would stay quite. Really it was probably the salesman who kidnapped the children, sold them off and then covered his own tracks, by getting the community to side with him. Either way the community was involved somehow.

Great video :) such a sad but fascinating case. Here are a couple of additional interesting facts if you’re interested. In regards to the picture of Louis that was addressed to the mom, Jennie, she did had a brother named Frank Cipriani, who could be “brother Frankie”. The Sodder family had initially suspected him because he lived in Florida. There were witnesses who saw the children get into cars with Florida licence plates. Even the Sodders believed this theory that Jennie’s brother took them because it would’ve been someone they knew.
Another point to mention is that the house belonged to Jennie’s father and it was unsettled. When he died, it was left to Jennie. Jennie and her brothers, Frank, and Jimmie, who was one of the volunteer firefighters at the scene, were fighting over the house. The man who threatened them, George’s former boss who knew Frank, also mentioned that Jennie wasn’t signing the settlement papers since he wanted it in her brothers favour.
Thank you again for a great video.
