Short, informative and useful, amazing video! Wish there'd be a tutorial on similar appliances, like a dam or how to block the river, magma to surface pump, etc.
You forgot to spend 7-8 minutes on intro graphics, instructions about like/subscribe/notification bell, and chatter about how this is just your own personal opinion. Jokes aside, great job. It’s refreshing to see some no-nonsense content on RUclips.
Don't worry it takes my dwarfs more than a minute to pull the lever and they all get massacred Also based on your thumbnail I would love a way to make hidden entrances/doorways
Very cool, like now I know how to block attacks not just from x-y level but also from z level, I didn't even knew it was possible until now. Another idea: can you show what all the actions you take when your fort is under attack ? like calling dwarves into different tasks, or closing specific gates and so on
BRIDGE; Also known as a Dwarven Atom Smasher, When used it removes stuff completely from your game, to many animals impacting your FPS, broken equipment/clothes, OR a pesky Elf/Enemies put a zone/stockpile under it, pull the lever and POOF it's gone
What's stranger is that civilians that die from being crushed by a bridge don't even come back as a ghost later, according to the wiki You should still memorialize them though, reduces your chances of forgetting how many dwarves of yours got atom smashed
You know... I've never really considered that lol. I almost always make a lower gate (as seen in this video) mostly incase of emergencies, or in the event of FUN! I can quickly seal off access to the tunnels below. If one of my dwarves did manage to wedge themselves in between at the precise moment the bridge is lowered, I'd call that an "acceptable" loss compared to losing the whole fortress 😂
Huh. I've done elaborate multi-z-level stairway-breaks to effect the same effect. Never would have guessed you could just stick a bridge "through" an up/down stairway.
Its crazy just how many ways you can approach problems in DF. I've learned a ton of stuff from comments that I hadn't ever heard before. Been playing the game on and off for 10-15 years and I feel like I learn something new about it everyday lol.
More DF tutorial videos, please! Would love to see one how to get dwarves to hunt and use dead animals as meat. I feel like corpses are never collected in time before they are rotten. Tbh I have no idea how the butcher shop works in general
So, wait - I'm a little confused on the logic as to how this aftually works? Don't get me wrong, it seems like it absolutely *would,* but just *how* is my question? Does it function via cutting off the stairwell connection as if there was a floor?
subscribing for those sweet DW tips. if you could make one about grazing.... I... dont get it. My animals makes every grass tiles into a sand one instantaneously (wtf)
Sorry if that left you scratching your head! The result is just a quick raise/lower so not super interesting regardless, just didn't have footage on hand when I made this 😅

Thank you! I hate that crap too lol.
I failed, this video is over a minute long. It was inevitable.

Never thought to do this for the top of the staircase.
I'd do it for the main one but won't dwarves get squished by it?

Keep on making these great content :)
Thanks! That's the plan 😁

Got this on my list ^ :)
Please do more!
That's the plan! 😁
Can you link multiple bridges to one lever?
You can yup! You can also label each lever as to not get confused on what it is they do.
damn finally, really make sense video :) ,maybe you could make video about work order, since it still gib me confuse to use it
Getting lots of suggestions, I'll add this one too 😁

Yup! Once the bridge is lowered it blocks access to the stairs :)
It also helps to smash any existence into atoms😊
There is a great story/thread out there somewhere about kids playing in the trash compactor lol.

Nice tutorial! Next time please show the results

@@BoardAndConfused I think he means the dwarves flying to the wall because they were standing on the bridge... that results... xD
🤣
