I started into rc with the RB10 about 5 months ago. I spent about $450 to get the car, battery, and charger, along with a few extra parts initially. I started out in the beginner class and am still there right now. I have spent a lot of my free time learning and watching videos on just about every aspect of rc that I run into or think of. I've watched a lot of your videos and many others from so many channels on youtube. Over the months I've looked around and tried to find ways of upgrading my car. I am slowly building up the necessary components to run my RB10 as a 17.5 buggy with a blinky mode esc. A lot of people get in a hurry to get all the things they want to drive a specific class. I'm content to run and learn in a beginner class for now. Maybe I'll have all I need to move up to a more advanced or faster class a year from now. I don't know. The point is I'm not in a hurry to get to the next phase. I'm here to have fun first and foremost. After that, it's about figuring out solutions to problems I encounter and helping others if they need a helping hand.
Stay away from anyone who just wants to brag or just talks about stock vs mods like their special, I've seen alot drop out of the hobby bc of ppl like that, if it's a good club you should be able to ask any questions you have on setups etc
In my club, the top sct contenders tend to sell their rigs at the end of the season after or before buying new rigs so I got 3 used cars for my team for cheap, and in installments 🎉😅 Everything I own and race is used haha😂 I started with a used 2wd Slash and I'll donate it to a charity raffle instead of selling it
Another good way to race on a budget is racing mini z. While the faster classes do demand a lot of money. the stock and box stock classes are relatively cheap compared to the bigger scales. They're also a good way to improve your driving or get good quickly. These little cars are extremely tricky to drive but if you master it! Then the bigger scales become easy.
Buying name brand race kits as the new ones are coming out. The "last years" kits are still great for most people and sometimes on huge discount from amain and other retailers. Or used cars from market place are a good deal. they sometimes come with extra parts and tires. Great videos as always keep it up.
Bought my first RTR Slash when they first came out in '08? Ran it a few times that day, that night tore it all the way down and cleaned everything. Great way to understand how the car works and diagnose problems on that track with faster repairs. I'm the moron who does in fact read the stereo instructions lol
I got a used srx2 mid motor 2wd about 2 years ago and im only just finished restoring it for 17.5 class as i now dont work as a chef which means i can get to my local (Australia) and cant wait to use it
just got back into rc over the last few weeks, bought uses rtrs for the cost of less than a new kit all i had to do was slap a battery and receiver in. best way to race rc on a budget is to let someone else take the hit on the cost of new.
Great video. I for one am getting back into the hobby, so price is key. Racing was big in my area when I was younger but today it just seems bashing is the thing? I would love to get back into racing and in doing this I’ve looked to the used market. There I can find from the bigger more established names a roller that I can update and configure on a slightly cheaper budget, but staying true to the hobby be creative in design, seeing that some of the older models parts are not in abundance but there are some close. RTRs are great but really take the hobby out of the name?
If you want to get in to RC racing for cheap, then go to your local club and ask them, there's always a guys sellin last year's car and he'll porbably set you p for $300 not £1000
Haha, nice! That Yokomo looked terrible, was that the car or the driver? 🤣 For transponders, if your track runs older AMB timing systems, the MRT is a clone and works well for under $80.
Nice video 😊 my way keeping a budget is to buy a Roller with servo from one of the fastest racers in Israel and allso the importer of team Associated. New cars every year 👏👏👏
Is tlr or losi coming back with anything off road short course? 😢 Reintroduce the 22. Sc 3.0 2x4 . People will keep buying. Traxxas does it. Im a die hard tlr losi fan but bout to get team associated because im not sure whats in or not in the workx
THANKS FOR THE PLUG MAN! Love your videos.
Yeah dude!!
Well your kinda cool 😎😎🦾😁

set up and knowlegde are are priceless. it's a club talk to the guys and they'll help you improve. if not then find another club

I appreciate all the info you share in this video (as someone who is trying to understand all the different classes)!

Getting my start this week, was able to pick up a brand new in box yokomo DTM 3 for $155 from an eBay auction! Excited to get it running.

heyyyyy it's nor cal's track, nice! :) I have an rb7ss I should go over there some time
I saved the aluminum hop up arms in the rear of my losi mini t by using some ridiculously small o rings, much less slop and more piece of mind.
We love the roach! 🐜
I can’t wait to try the Dirt Master on the track. Good to know it’s compatible with the RB5.

Another great video man. Hope things went well in the mains at Columbus!
Can you list some links to the jazz cuts played in the video. I find myself bobbin' my head and tapping my foot the whole time 🎹🎷🥁❤️
Love the jazz……😎 you distinguished gentleman…..
One SCT id recommend is the HPI jumpshot sc v2. Great handling truck, but the tyres are kind of crap. Half the price of a stock Slash here in Oz
I find the best way to save a lot of money is to buy used. My local track MHOR Raceway has a used case people sell things in all the time.

Asia loves racing...the only problem is they can only afford $20 rc cars...make a branded $20 cars and market it to Asia...
Very good. This is much better than your other video.

why is it that these dont have reverse?
Mostly cause if you crash and try and reverse out, you could hit someone else on the racing line.
@@RoachRC makes sense. i was watching mini z and that happened all the time lol

Yup 😊
