I mean…you could fully fuel and fire up a top fuel car, let them do a burnout clear to the traps….back up….stage…and send it…and repeat the process in the time it takes a Tesla to “get ready”….just to run 9s. Waaaaaw!

For the price of the plad, I can get an H2r and 2 zx 14s. One for me, one for me Dad. XD. Lovely car though.

The 14R has been pulling hard like this for almost a decade, in stock trim.
It out accelerated a stock z14 with 20 year old technology on some makeshift stretch that’s not even a quarter mile….and the fanboys who don’t even have driver’s licenses and would wet themselves on a motorcycle are like “GAME OVER”. 🤣 Any modern hyperbike would mop up a Tesla on the interstate or mountain road. They can do it all day until the tanks empty. And that’s a matter of a 5 minute fill up at any given gas station….all while Tesla dude is searching for somewhere to charge his wife’s appliance and then waiting around forever …that’s if he’s still not back at the stoplight putting it in drag mode and trying to “get ready” like a corn star with ED. 🤣
@@yourecringe-8 I wish they would've ran a timed hot lap on each bike- Chris riding- and one in the car... That would be an interesting set of numbers. Bike is only as quick on a twisty as the rider. A TZ250 will run away and hide from a 'Busa (Or anything else) on the Dragon with a skilled jock.

You can use it to tow your bikes to the track. Then run the tow vehicle against some bikes just for fun.
The most impressive thing here is actually the 14r beating the new busa lol
Why? On the spec sheet the zx14r blows the busa away. Generally Busas have more headroom for tuning.

Busas don’t come fast from factory. They are kings of speed because you can tune the hell out the the motor

This is nuts! Plaid is 4,760 pounds! Imagine the torque those freaking motors output. I love my bikes, but sitting in a sedan and accelerating like that sounds insane. Now we just need a nationwide Autobahn with charging stations every 300 or 400 miles 😂
Does it also drive you crazy when people are talking about the Plaid having to get into "drag strip mode"? Yes, that's how you get the best performance but it's fast and race capable at any moment. The several minutes or so to get into drag mode is if you want to squeeze out like another 0.1 seconds on your quarter mile.
300 miles...no. Try every 60 miles if you are pushing it hard. The Y can pull a small horse rig on the flat about 60 miles and needs a full charge after that. Been there, done that...
It’s impressive to me in the same way that a several hundred thousand pound passenger jet is. Take off is fun. And then? It’s a very pedestrian snooze fest. And the novelty of acceleration in a Tesla wears off. There’s a lot of things it can’t do well compared to a traditional high performance vehicle. And you aren’t getting a 300 mile range with any electric driving fast. I can ride a modern sport bike at great speed all day long and never get bored. It requires great attention, skill, and a lots of input, even with all the electronic aids bikes now come with. In a Tesla, you just push the pedal down. It’s a really quick adult sized power wheels appliance. They make me feel nothing.

I watched the vid for Edmunds with Carlos you you. Very entertaining and so glad they had a professional rider for that battle. Makes me wish I still had my 2016 ZX14R SE. Infact, I wish Kawasaki would bring the Big Ole Girl back with some modern updates. She's still a BEAST. Strong work Mr. Moore!! Shame you didn't have your Grudge ZX14R with you, I think you would have taken the Plaid if the wind was calmer.

I’m a Kawasaki guy . That’s why I own 5 of them , 3 are zx14’s. That was pretty awesome. That dam electric power is unreal.

@@hellraiserrec19 thank you. I actually bought it for my wife. I have rode it and it’s actually really fun . It’s the 900cc rally edition. So you can put it in rally mode and lock the front wheels and just do doughnuts.
@@chriswade3986 haha that sounds like a lot of fun. I though of getting one so my wife or friends can ride without being intimidated by a regular bike. They look like a blast!

If the 14R had the Busa's electronics it would have been closer in the dig. The 14R is a beast! Oh, good riding dude. Definitely one of the best riders out there.

I watched the Edmond's video a few weeks ago. This is a nice follow-up to that. It's quite interesting to get the impression of the Plaid from a professional motorcycle racer. You need a wind-sock for your camera mic though.

Remember... Chris Moore is a professional drag racer....like a really good one...so if HE gets beat by the Tesla, just think on any other street in America these bikes ridden by an average Joe -that gap will be even bigger. Also don't forget Elon musk says the plaid can still be updated or unlocked to raise it's top end speed from like 162 to 200mph. If that does indeed happen, it is simply game over for A LOT of people.
It already is game over. Just a few butt hurt people refusing to accept reality. My colleague did a 9.4 at 149 without launch mode in his Plaid.
I would rather ride the bike. A lot more fun. You just sit in the car.

Could almost take a nap at the start line with how long it takes for the 'plaid' to set up...hilarious. DC electric motor maximum torque available at 1 rpm is...'different'.
Don't really have use Dragstrip mode unless you want to get every last drop out of the car. "Plaid mode" is only .1 and 1-3mph slower in the 1/4 mile. Just pull up and go, no waiting.
I think the Japanese bike manufacturers need to make some faster bikes for us😬

The Edmunds driver didn't need to wait at all. Just floor the damn thing and let it rip. Even so, getting it to stage into Drag Strip mode only take a few seconds. No need to wait for the battery to be fully conditioned because it would still do about 9.4-9.5 in the quarter. No point in fiddling around until people are about to fall asleep. Whether in cheetah stance or battery fully conditioned/warm it will still do a quarter in the 9s.
Both is amazing motorcycle's good to see the zx14 pulling hard on the top end but yeah still a suzuki man

No, it's not. Probably feels faster with the turbo, but it's not. Yea, that 14r paint scheme is beautiful. I have a 2000 Ninja ZX-12R.

Thanks for sharing! Maybe a dumb question, but if the Kawasaki has a quick shifter, why not hold full throttle during shifts? Do you think it'd make much difference? It *feels* like it makes a meaningful difference on my BMW but I don't have data to confirm.

I want to see what takes to turn a new busa and ZX14r into a Plaid killer. Probably just dropped suspension and a swing arm on the ninja, maybe heavier clutch springs. The Busa may need some engine work on top of thatvi believe.
My gen2 busa went 9.0s in Vegas with the following mods...
8" over swing arm
Geared down 2 teeth in the rear.
Aftermarket clutch
Air shifter
Lowered 3"
ECU flash
That's it. Drove it as a daily driver. I'm confident it would give the Tesla a challenge all day long.

That 10whp extra for the 14r makes a world of a difference then because the busa had nothing for the Tesla from the roll on. Probably the crazy torque of the 14r?

When a car is 4 wheel drive and has a 1000+ hp and a 1000 ft lbs of instant torque even at that heavy weight it is going to move out respectfully. Just watched the Tesla holeshot a 1500+ hp Buggati Chiron and then the Chiron walked on by around a 100 mph. Suddenly... 500 hp doesn't make the kind of difference you would think it would. Yes, the Chiron won, but for that price difference I wasn't sold on wanting a Buggati... not a Tesla fan either. I do like the way they drive though. That LCG really feels good when turning.
