    You're living and learning, such as shoot your elevations before cutting your columns, then you can cut and weld the caps on the ground, same with the clips on the joists. But, you're learning, that's the main thing, keep up the good work.

    I like your advise to guy's wanting to pipeline,I worked for one of the largest corporations in the world,I was asked if I wanted to tig in pump stations,stainless and chrome,after a few months of that,I was asked to help on a 42" tie in,if I would have been on my own it would of never happened.OH!! I forgot one thing,it doesn't doesn't matter how good you are or what you know,it's being good enough and who you know!

    Hey Mr. Ross.. first thing.. I enjoy your videos... my name is Rudy and hope this could help you out.. I build carports / 40×140 ft haybarns / garage's / lean-to's an lots more ... I always weld my clips on the ground that way everything is ready.. mark the spaces for your purlins.. and I don't brace my section because my pulins become my braces.. then the r-panels tie everything together.. hope that helps...

Is it possible to do a video on stick welders running on 230vac and recommended amp rating for welding farm equipment like soil tillers or thick metals and for learning pipe welding. It be great for all of us newbies looking into learning/ practice. I am lost on amp rating for 230vac home use welder.

    Also Ross, run yourself some 1/0-ga wire from the Battery to the back of your Truck and front as well and connect those to Battery Quick connectors this was you always have 12V at both end's of your Truck and you just plug into it and you can have anything powering it. Winch, Flood LED lights and more like your hitch crane. And you can use it as a Starter cable hookup and charger port as well. And if you put a 200Amp Fuse right by the battery you also safe your butt when something is overloading the wire too so no cable burn. Cost you maybe $150 and 3h of your labor time to install it at the front and rear of your Truck but very well worth it. I installed on our Truck a heavy duty rectange 1/4" thick tube 3" by 4" and welded 3 Hitch receivers to it, left, right and center so I can put D-Ring receivers, My winches, Floot Bar's, Roof Rafter Rack or anything else I may need quickly into the receivers to simplify my job.

    @ronfussell8244 3 года назад

    Finally seen this one A Ross,,I like to give a little past experience,on your horizontal girt,cost wise I think 6" C perlin primered would work great flush side out naturally.The only other thing I noticed was the trusses only have vertical support,if you have snow those wide spans might need the angled brace welded in,really increases snow load.I have made many hay shelters the same way,just 12' inside,should be popular where your at,Good job.

    I made my own gin Pole using a harbor freight 12 volt winch and a 20-foot piece of oil well drill stem. If the RUclips-watching crew here wants to know more, tell Austin and I'll send him the information. Many of the buildings I build have 12 to 15 ft tall side walls and you need an extremely long and robust hoist to get trusses up that high.

    • @WhatDadIsUpTo
      @WhatDadIsUpTo Год назад +1

      @wadebrowne5076
      I gave it to a friend, so I don't have any way to send you a picture, but all I did was, I fashioned a hinge out of steel, such that it fit into the 2" receiver on my truck. It was 12 feet long with a Harbor Freight 12-volt winch fastened about midway and a caged pulley at the outboard edge. I also put a hand-cranked boat winch mounted to my truck rack (welded 1 1/2" 11-gauge square steel tubing) and attached the hook end to an eye, which had been welded to the mast, just below the 12-volt winch. This carries most of the leveraged load, allowing the little electric winch to have to lift only the weight of a roof truss (400-800 pounds). That's it. Worked like a champ. I'm 74 and have transitioned from building steel buildings to staying around my little farm growing cows and building windmills and steam engines. Hope this helps.

    A good way of avoiding to run those wires to your battery. Why not install some quick connects near the rear and hook it on a relay and switch. You can also have it wired to where they won't provide power without the engine running.

      That’s pretty much what my buddy did for his gin pole we use for dressing wild pigs in Texas,we ran the wires from the battery underneath the truck to the rear and up into a stake pocket and connected the wires to the male and female connections for a electric trolling motor the female one is in the pocket and the male one is on the wires on the pole and just used a ATV winch with a remote control,works great

    Just a point of clarification - We didn’t actually see the instrument so it might have been a ‘transit’ but I think more likely, it was a ‘builders level’. In any case, you were using it as a level, not a transit bcz you were just shooting level, not turning or measuring angles.
    You might look into a laser level in the future, bcz you can perform any leveling operation with just one person, rather than an ‘instrument man’ and a ‘rod man’.
