    Are your posts also slanted from front to back? What happens when you install the tin roofing. Does it just slight bend level at the front and back.
    Since you've welded the perimeter 2x4s to the insides of the posts, does it leave 4 inches on the front and back posts to be level with the ground?

    Painting the frame before placing the roof sections would be a good idea plus the roof should be about a foot wider than the frame from all sides so the rain water doesn't ruin the metal frame, agree?

    • @FIXDPHONES

      Totally agree, if you are going to paint it that would be best.

    Why did you choose to set the poles on piers as opposed to dropping them into the concrete?
    How did you lift the steel and what guage did you go with??

  • @samtheman3071

    Fantastic job....just one critique. I'm a metal roof installer, and The screw you fastened on the roof panel goes on the ribs of the panels, not on the flat. This is so that water has less space to puddle and runs off the rib, verses puddling on the flat...yes, even if it's on a slight pitch, water will puddle around the screw, shortening it's lifespan. Over all, good job.

      What would you recommend to repair corroded metal beams on my carport?

    • @samtheman3071
      @samtheman3071 3 года назад +4

      @@marieplocher7247 it depends on the severity of the corrosion. If you have surface rust with pitting, you can remove the rust with a grinder that has a wire brush attachment, sand stripper attachment, or a grinder attachment. Again, depends on the severity of the corrosion. After you have removed the rust, remove all dust particles with air and a nylon bristle brush. Then apply a rust bond to the affected area(s) with roller or brush, then apply a good oil base paint with roller or brush as well. Roller and brushes push the paint into fine crevasses better method than spraying. Now, if you can see holes through the steel, I'd recommend replacing the beam. A temporary fix would be to prep the affected area as stated above, but before applying rust bond and paint, you can weld pieces of steel to the affected area. Make sure the steel is thick enough to support the structure....then apply the bonding agent and paint. With structural support, i advise replacing the beam rather than piece weld it. Hope this helps.😊

      I'd cut out the bad and put in some good. If it's surface rust just clean that shit up and paint it.

      looking at the welds I would say its a flux cored MIG process. The welds have a sand coloured flux around them which is what you get using flux. This is the correct choice for outdoors and thin metal.

    • @frankish5314
      @frankish5314 3 года назад +3

      @@calebsmith95 Normally I would agree with you. But when something goes wrong with that Lincoln you might find the repair costs are less than a new Vulcan. Now I don't own a Vulcan but I have a few people I follow that rave about them. I also own a 200A Lotos AC/DC tig. a Northern Tool 110V portable Mig and 110V off brand DC stick machine. I have owned these for a few years and have not had a problem with any of them and when does croak they are all throwaway machines. 10 years ago I would have bought a high end machine like yours, but things have changed recently in the hobby market.
