Not that other top players (Zverev, Medvedev, Rublev...) have such variations. The main thing he's missing right now is a consistent serve. He's improved slightly but his 1st serve is still too unreliable compared to that of other top10 players

His serve is not bad in terms of speed or power. But placement is poor. Have a look at Edberg's or Roger's serve, average speed 185 km/h yet they scored so many aces because of accuracy

Sinner is a great talent but his serve needs a lot of improvement. Also needs to add some variety to his game, feels like he tries to outhit his opponents rather than outsmart.
Yep exactly. There were so many points where he could've gone to the net and finished the point, but the points either ended with Zverev's error or Sinner's error.
I used to not like the way that Zverev carried himself on the court but that has changed in the past. I would be happy to see him win a grandslam now. It would be difficult for him to achieve the feat but he could be one of the players who could.

Sinner played without his first serve. That's where he lost the match. On one hand, he can be satisfied because we won almost double points than Zverev in the game. On the other, if he serves like this he has a huge handicap when playing matches at this level.
Spot on...he(Sinner) has all the shots apart from the serve and if he beefs that up it will let him tee off on 2 shot plays more with his phenomenal forehand.

As the stats show, Sinner has a TERRIBLE percentage of first serves in (around 35-40% in the third, that is not acceptable), then he had a good percentage of points won with the first serve, when succeeded, which is different.
Too many crosscourt backhands from Sinner which gave Zverev lifelines to stay in the match and eventually win it. Very tense moments throughout the affair though. Good dramatic stuff for 3 and a bit hours.

Sinner had the best tiebreak and deciding set stats of 2022 before this match. What a shame he made those bad mistakes in this tiebreak. I hope Tsitsipas can recover after the crazy evening with Diego and beat Zverev tomorrow. He will definitely need to make more 1st serves than today, Sinner was also dissapointing with the serve percentage, which is another reason why he lost. But still a great effort and it all came down to just the couple of misses in the end.
I would've liked to see Sinner pull this one out, but even so it's a sign that he's coming into his own to come that close against a player of Zverev's caliber. He and Alcaraz are on the march (don't be fooled by Alcaraz's loss to Korda). It's exciting stuff.
Sascha insists on hitting persistently for a cross court rally from one corner instead of alternating it every second shot to keep his opponents guessing. He's gotten away with it but through adjusting late. Sinner and younger bloods don't care for those kinds of rallies and are hitting the ball where the opponent isn't, tiring out the opponent and unsettling them about whether cross court positioning is worth committing to. Fun to watch.
I've been convinced of late that Jannik Sinner will be in the top ten by year's end and the latter stages of the French await for folks like Ruud, Alcarez and players that were not actually brought up on clay (Meddy for instance.)

Best match of the year so far for me, less of a blockbuster than medvedev Nadal but had me on the edge of my seat especially in the final set breaker.
