I installed a set of these on my wife's 2005 Mazda 6 (North American, Canada.) Fitment was very good though I had to trim a boss from a plastic piece on the car as it interfered with the passenger-side housing (the boss served as a mounting point for a small wiring harness retainer clip near the washer bottle filler neck) and its absence won't be missed. Once trimmed the passenger side fit perfectly. Beams are bright and the pattern is very even; the adjusters didn't need to be touched as the aim right out of the box was spot on. I noticed a receptacle on the back of each headlight with only one pin populated and didn't think much of them. Later I found a harness in the box with a single wire and two plugs that would plug into these receptacles. I didn't see any explanation of these plugs nor this harness in the accompanying booklet. Does the wire connect to an underhood circuit, switched 12V or to the battery or ... ? I tested it by connecting it to the battery; the "DRL" strip at the bottom came on so it looks like it's an optional DRL connection from a switched 12V source. On my wife's Canadian-spec car the three LEDs come on as DRLs (the strip is off) and when I turn the headlights on the LEDs brighten and the strip comes on. Can VLAND clarify that this is expected? One thing I noticed in its current configuration is that with all three main LED lights acting as the DRLs there is noticeable flicker from both. I suspect it's because power to the "low beam" input in DRL mode is chopped (PWM) or passed through a resistor from the car resulting in marginal power to the VLAND LED controller causing this flicker. When the headlights are switched on the lights brighten and are steady (no flicker.) These headlights look great on the car and really restore the overall appearance compared to the 19 year old yellowed and oxidized OE headlights.
