    This video was released 6-16-19
It is 5-10-23 almost 4 years later and this is my dream style cottage garden. I have watched this video so many times. I have purchased a lot of these plants and as Laura says it can take years. I don’t have the roses. All 13 of the spearmint heucheras didn’t make it.😢 I think it is due to how rocky and old tree rooty my soil is even know I tried to remove as much as I could. I am loving the development of my area. I don’t have a fence. The year before I saw this video I had put in a whole row of arborvitaes. It is pretty in a different way…I put a wagon wheel in the corner and it added a nice charm to the bed. Mother’s Day is around the corner and told my husband that I would like a Lady Gardner Rose
instead of a bouquet of roses. Last year I scattered cosmos seeds in the bare areas and it looked spectacular.

I may have already commented a few years ago...but I had to mention. The fact that you actually SAT DOWN and had a "CONVERSATION" with the viewers in the midst of your instructional video is what makes you magic Laura. I'd like to see an update of this area, as I have several of these plants but would like to see how they perform elsewhere. Thank You

Hi Laura, I have created a new flower bed and wanted to get some ideas from you about planting it. Your wonderful videos are timeless and I find them so helpful. I cannot count the number of times I’ve watched them to get a how-to refresher. I appreciate you and Aaron so very much for all your hard work making videos for all of us. You’re both so talented and amazingly ambitious! I have made my own backyard much prettier because of ideas I have gotten from the two of you 🤗 Thank you!!

I am a little late watching this video but wanted to tell you since we have a smart tv I have been addicted to you on our TV by RUclips, of course!! We live in Aiken SC and are in a area of Sugar Sand....and we are native to Ohio; so what a difference!!....you help me so so much...right now I am fighting breast cancer and have 5 more treatments and then radiation.....we caught it in stage 2, Praise God....but OH, this changes our perspective of living....we are 70 and celebrated our 50th at the beginning of our Cancer treatment journey....so my hub buzzed my head 2 days later; as it was coming out in clumps....so when I can be in the sun again, I have so many plans for our farmhouse outisde....we also rennovated and added an addition to the house....I love how hard working you both are.....we lived in Lebaon Oregon area for a short time....LOVED SEEING MT HOOD ON A CLEAR DAY....AND THEN THE RAINBOWS!!!!!! WOW!!!!! GOD BLESS!!!

Couldn’t sleep last night and stumbled upon this wonderful video and fell in love with your garden and your presentation. I do NOT have a green thumb but I SO desire a garden like this one. My husband and I turned a barn into a home four years ago and for the past four years I’ve been working on one particular area that’s visible from the road - trying to make it aesthetically pleasing. I’ve planted several different things but nothing has satisfied me, and now I know why. The cottage style theme is what I long to create. Thank you so much for these wonderful tips. I hope I can bring it all together.

I'm one of 'those' people who loves to assimilate as much information as they can, so I'm hoping if I listen to these more than seventeen times I'll commit them to memory 🤣! It is so therapeutic to engage in any form of gardening, even if one only watches someone else do it, so you're being an immense benefit to those of us with anxiety issues, as well as folks who need gardening guidance. Thank you for all you do, and God Bless. 💜🕯🙏🏻

I've never heard of a cottage garden... until now. 😁 I'm super excited to realize that this is what I'm doing with my front flower bed without knowing it. 💖 I feel better knowing that I'll have "empty space" until my new plants have time to expand to their fullest potential. Patience is not my virtue, but I feel better about being able to enjoy each of the stages.

This helped me feel a little better about how my cottage garden is coming along. This is the third season since we created our front bed (an 18'x20' triangle) and I was sitting here thinking I've really messed up. But each of your tips I'm like, "yup, done. Did that. Did that too. Oh, be patient? Okay." So patience (and shoving in more plants) it is!

Saving this video. I keep wanting to make a cottage style garden that runs along my back fence and it keeps getting put off because it’s such a big space and I never have enough money to do it all. I ALWAYS wanted a cottage garden; but, it never came to pass. For all you other GA gardeners, if a cottage garden is the style you love and want, start on it as soon as you can! Don't be like me! When I became partially disabled, I had to put my plans for a cottage style garden on "the back burner;" but, it was ok because I was still young & was ok waiting. I settled for ordering & placing a large, metal, 3-panel trellis (for interest) off-center in a 25' x 7' bed. I was able to add 3 cllimbing roses in a fanned out pattern in front of & at the side of the trellis. I loved the way the deep pink roses looked against the silvery gray metal! When I had initially decided on the cottage garden style, I had planted a miniature climbing rose with clusters of delicate pink blooms, near one end of the bed with a pretty, metal, fan-shaped trellis to climb on. I added a purple clematis at that same trellis, thinking it was big enough to support both plants. I never dreamed the "miniature" rose would rocket to the eaves of my house and continue growing onto my roof! The clematis proceeded to use both the rose and trellis for support and I love that end of the bed to this day! That clematis had to be replaced quite a few years ago; but, the 2nd one also took off like a rocket! Several feet from that end of the bed, I had a lilac colored Rose-of-Sharon with a maroon throat planted. The opposite end of that bed was "loosely" anchored with a deep, burgundy-colored Japanese maple. I added a perennial hibiscus with large, white flowers on one side of the little tree. The bed makes an ell on the other side of the tree and I have a drift of seven, light bluish-purple hydrangeas there. The white hibiscus, 3 Lady's Mantles and a St. Fiacre' statue were the last additions I was able to make to the first bed of MY "cottage garden" My health took a much worse turn and houseplants are the only things I grow, now. So, gardeners, don't put off your dreams if you don't have to! It's true that tomorrow isn't a sure thing for any of us! I'm simply saying, don't wait or put off your dreams that you can make realities, today! Thanks so much for sharing your tips and new cottage flower bed with us, Laura! God bless you all.🌾💜

Toronto Ontario Canada...Hi Laura, there are so many wonderful things to say about you that everyone else has already mentioned. A few being thank you and you are adorable. I am from Toronto Ontario Canada. 😉 I found you through a RUclips channel that I have been following for a few years. At home with Nikki. You must must look into her. She does not like gardening but your Technique in the placement of plants before starting is what caught her attention. She is a home and Business organizer and has a pet RUclips channel as well. She is second-to-none and completely off the chart in organizing. Because of her mentioning your site is how I found you. I am sharing your RUclips channel with all my clients here in Toronto Ontario Canada and some of them are already calling you there Guru. I do not know Nikki as she is in the states and I am in Canada but she just recently did a video on a front garden and she has used your Technique and mentions you. One last thing, 4 days after I started following you Channel I received my new gardening Magazine and there you were. Amazing how it all works. Thank you thank you thank you and all the best to you and your beautiful little family.

We’ve recently built our home on our farm and I’m now living in what used to be a cow pasture lol, coming from a home we had lived in for 20 years so my flower beds there were really taking shape and were well established... this blank slate I’ve been given . Oh Laura this is my favourite type of gardening! Hubby and I are still looking for our first house (partially because I need a house that suits this style garden 😂)

My absolute favorite garden style! Love, love, love it!
Am I the only person who saw that walkway nail popped up and kept thinking "please don't trip on that!" 🤞😂

Meh. She knew it wasn't going to last. She only spent about $75 on it so it's basically a temporary thing. I'm sure if it becomes a hazard, she'll just rip it out.

Really helped me. I now know what went wrong in my 'cottage' garden. ...especially, the 'soldiers ' throughout .

Oh how very soft and pretty Laura, I love the plants and color combination! Those roses intrigue me, guess I'll have to get some next year as my cottage garden evolves. By the way, Happy Father's Day Aaron, I hope you have a good one. I also loved seeing Russell and Cheddar in this video. I love and appreciate all the hard work that you guys do and the fact that you take us along with you as you create beautiful gardens!

Ditto! P.S.-- I forgot to add - 1. Aaron, maybe someday would you consider assembling a playlist? Wow you underscore with great music! Could be "planting music" for our headsets. 2. Can we get a peek at how big the chickens are now and how the nesting boxes are working? Surround of the coop/yard looks so beautiful. Love cottage gardens, esp. yours!
