How Hard Can We Push An XC Bike?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 мар 2023
- It wasn’t too long ago that mountain bikes all looked pretty much the same regardless of which discipline they were intended for, gone are the 26-inch wheels, xc riders were the first to ditch them in favour of the bigger and faster rolling 29ers and in came the super speed carbon XC MTBs of today, but just how hard can you really push a thoroughbred XC machine!?

When your first bike is an XC bike and you drop it into everything because you didn't know XC bikes weren't supposed to ride those trails.... Love.
been there done that..still doing it lol
I'm there rn but with a 26 full rigid 😂💀
Still doing it, with my 26er hardtail.
Still ride my '09 Specialized Epic 😂❤
That's what I did on my cheap dirt Raleigh Raptor 29" XD
How hard can we push Blake
I'm waiting for Blake to ride a redbull on a hardtail
I guess a offroad triathlon would be his biggest push haha
@@petarzutic1165 on a BMX bike 🫣
@@notpablo8369 I’m watching your every move😂😂😂
What if he rides redbull hardline on a hardtail
Shredding the XC like crazy ✅
Hosting and talking while doing so ✅
ALSO CARRYING THE DAMN GOPRO IN YOUR MOUTH ✅
Blake is a one man content production swiss army knife.
🤘🎉
Blake's enthusiasm makes him the best for this job.
Crazy how smooth Blake made that look on a xc bike.
For sure! Blake can shred anything. It's so interesting to see how capable XC bikes like the Orbea Oiz are. 👊
„You didn’t expect me to ride up, did you“ got me 😂😂😂
I love my XC Hardtail!!! I love how light and agile it is and it gives me smiles where ever I ride... Okay I'm not hitting big jumps or very techy stuff on it but that's more down to my skills or absence of them... ;-)
I get a kick out of these so called challenge's. Ive been riding bikes for 65 years, including MTB's sence the mid 80's. Riding the modern XC bikes down a knarly trail is nothing like riding a trail on a 1989 Specialized Team Stumpjumper. No suspension at all, but what fun. Riding Slickrock in Moab or flying down single track in the Utah mountains was awesome. We pushed the limits with those early all trail bikes, and screamed all the way. Don't get me wrong. I love my 160mm in the front and 150mm in the rear, and a dropper post.
Loving the XC bike.Super cool video guys, Awesome riding Blake looked like you were having fun dude!
Gents, thanks for keeping me inspired to get on my MTB. Even at 53, journey has been a blast!!
Great to hear it, Joseph! Thanks for the support! All the best and safe riding!
Loving the XC content on the channel.
Thanks for the insight to mtb racing, you were great dude, my heart was racing just watching 😂👍
Wow Blake sure does love riding 😀😀😀
Great enthusiasm great film
Another superb video 👌. Blake, you’re an astonishing rider 👍
2:45 you hopped like a bloody gazelle down that straight section haha
Wild video!
My first superbike was a Rocky Mountain Element Race from 1998 with 100 mm damping. I used it to commuting on asphalt and gravel, and a bit playing in the forest. That Orbea looks like a do it all bike that has taken huge evolution steps. Good for trails, and good on tarmac too.
Blake well done mate great riding and looks like a sick bike.
Great video and loving the focus on XC. I almost went for the Oiz, but couldn't get hold of one during lockdown so I went for a Supercaliber instead (100mm front, 60 mm rear). Would love to see what Blake can do on a Supercaliber.
Don't know if GMBN is sponsored by trek but yeah that would be cool to see; I heard the supercaliber handles like a hardtail with the forgiveness of a full sus bike thats pretty cool.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Go Supercal!
@@markgeorge2200 I've come from the road, so the whole suspension thing is new to me. For most of the riding I am doing, the Supercaliber is perfect. It is very responsive, and even on rocky ground handles things well. That said, I would love to ride an Oiz.
On the subject of Trek Supercal - rumor on the street has it that Trek is soon to release a Supercal 2.0 with a THREADED BB. 😎
Thanks for the support! We're stoked that you loved this video! It's cool to see that you're shredding it XC style! 🤘
great video again 😁
Wow!good to see a 120mm travel xc bike can handle big jumps and shred dh too!blake is in another skill level for this one for sure!sick!
Yes but just look XC world cup and you will see wat they do, it is crazy.
Look when Mathieu van der Poel falls at the olympics, it was a big 2meters step.
That looks easy, but thats not !
Anything can handle big jumps if you make it to the landing it's all very soft and smooth. It just looks big and scary. Dirt jump bikes are hardtails and they do crankworx on hardtails. Steep rough trails on a hard tail or XC is much more impressive. I could hit those jumps easily but there is zero chance I could do even half of Blake's speed on the trails at the start of the video on a xc or short travel bike.
As a Para sport athlete. XC riding can get you everywhere. Prior to Para sport I was enjoying DH. then had to tone it back. Still having so much fun on the XC pedals.
Blake went XXXC!
Just bought my first XC MTB ever, a Procaliber. Noty quite as comfy as the Orbea but holy heck I'm loving it so far.
OMG! I can't believe you did that on an XC bike. THAT'S SUPER CRAZY COOL Blake!!!
I have an Orbea Oiz as well and love it. Nice to see it is capable of rides like that. One day I might have the courage 😁
Nice, Steve! Glad to see you're loving your Oiz! It's such a brilliant bike! 👊
Awesome epik video 👍🤘
Blake, you ROCK! 🤘
Got one with a short stem and a rised bar, super fun on light trails
On Fire 🔥 Mate !!
Love you, Blake 🚀🚀🚀
Love me some XC but if I had a choice between XC or down country I’m goin on for the down country. Especially for the ride you just did. Great job Blake you are my favorite presenter
Love this video! I’ve often wondered if I’d be better off on something else instead of my camber. Cool to see someone jumping an XC bike like this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video 😃 beautiful spain 😃
Blake killing it on a weekly basis
It really feels like a modern 120mm full suspension is the best option for most of us who don't ride bike parks. A heavy bike is fun going downhill but is quite demanding on narrow winding forest trails like I have around home.
I love xc bikes! Blake loves every bike!
I used to take my 2012 Specialized Camber to the bike park and roughest local trails. If that is the bike you have, a decent set of tires is all that's needed and you're good to go. That being said: My new enduro bike plows through the rougher stuff with much more confidence, though
Sheeesh! You slayed here, Blake. Periodt.
Sick vid
Charl south Africa REALLY APPRECIATE video and Your channel
Blake the perfect guy for this! 😁🤘
After a lifetime of riding all the things I've settled on XC with a caveat... I still jump and drop, on my XC bike. ❤ very capable
Blake is pushing the new go pro mount to its extreme 🤣
Great video. But how come I don't see any Giant Bikes on your videos. Hope you guys can do videos with Giant Mountain Bikes. Thanks
Love pushing my xc downcountry bike past it’s limits
I'd love to hear the conversation with Orbea if the seat stays crack; "Never been jumped more than wheel height" 😂
AWESOME as always, BLAKE!!!
That "Gracias patrón" xD
I love riding bikes! Grew up on a BMX. Bought a dirt jumper and now a full sus trail bike! Still have a BMX too.
Gotta love "The Blake"!!
Great looking bike.
Love biking. That's it!
I think my biking skills are great for a quick ride around the block without leaving the ground after watching Blake shred. His reaction time is bonkers.
Thanks for this fun video! What makes the XC bike more sketch at higher speed over the chunk: the geometry, or the shorter travel? I know it’s both, but if you had to pick one thing, which would it be?
Hard question. I have both an Oiz and a Rallon. Based on an experience I had at a downhill park with both bikes I would lean towards the suspension travel rather than geometry. Main reason (for me) is that geometry will come more into play when going through technical areas. Its interesting how a section is ridden in different ways with both bikes.
Just think 30 years ago that would have been a mad downhill bike
Nice your a good rider
Nice Go-Pro Mount
Lunatic ludicrous fanatic awesomeness - smooth as a dirt jumper - takes some skill to keep that frame in one piece over the long run...
Heading his GPS beep every 2secs… lol would drive me insane
Popped! 🎉
I’ve taken my top fuel on some big stuff like 25 ft table top and 10 ft drops and they are really capable!
My rocky mountain XC snapped trying to ride a double black diamond haha.
wow. I have to try something like this on my OIZ. Amazing
Go for it!
You should do that same video but with your nukeproof scout 29er
i have an xc hardtail (i didnt know i had it haha) ive been droping on everything learning everything on her , it is save to continue ahah?
Wowzers!
i love some crazy stuff on xc hardtails whitout any dropperpost but no jumping.
I still take my '98 Trek Y11 out for a rip on all the same trails I ride my Stumpy on. I can only imagine how capable the current gen XC bikes are compared to my old fossil.
I wonder what Blake can push harder a trail/enduro hardtail or an xc full sus?
Which model helmet is that Blake?
thoughts on the Ibis DV9?
Just ordered OIZ now I know it was a good decision. Haha
I dunno what it is, but I freeking love Blake videos, he just makes me lol init
I am a 71 year old XC rider in SoCal.
This video just made me so glad that I put bigger brakes on my xc bike when i purchased it....
RAD CLIP!!!
The scariest thing about an XR bike or light hardtail is tires, sharp corners, especially on like dirt rides with no berms
remember people used to send it on fully rigid bikes. the only limit is the bikes frame really.
Gmbn: How hard can push an xc-bike?
Me: Broke my xc-frame last year
The simple fact is that Blake’s skill level is the biggest factor behind the performance of this bike, when you’re capable of riding a hard tail down the Mega Avalanche persuading a 120mm travel xc bike with decent modern geo to go down these trails really isn’t all that difficult, conversely someone with a lower skill level even with a full on enduro/dh rig could/would struggle to get top to bottom on a basic red trail without serious sketchy moments 🤷🏽♂️😀👍🏼
Here I am trying to have the courage to do jumps, this guy has a camera in his mouth while riding. Savage.
Does anyone know which garmin computer Blake was using?
Can aluminum 6061 XC Hardtail do this too?
Can you try it on my 2007 Epic please😂
I’ve one too….. An amazing 🤩 bike 🚲
would the orbea alma also be capable to withstand these jumps?
Blake going to Mega avalanche on XC bike next? 🤔
Not Blake holding us in his mouth 💀
I can't believe Blake did all this without tasting any blood 😮
Thank Blake! Gonna go send my top fuel to the moon! 🤪
where is out vid for today
Remember Brendog trying this and snapped the rims
What helmet is that?
Blake on a bone shaker!
Imagine the Oiz with your 140mm Manitou fork
>Buys an XC bike
>Doesn't climb
LOL
🤣
try an oldschool xc bike
Actualy xc bike can be turned to enduro setup just put 27.5 rear wheel and change the fork to 160 next the wheels change to knoby ones
Sam pilgrim do harder stuff on Wallmart bikes..
Ofc u can do this on a quality xc bike with good Suspension.
only ever had xc bikes ..
Everyone is saying how great this video is and i love the show so i think thats great. The problem is that the manufacturers only build these light bikes to be safe to use on an xco course and nothing more. The owners manuals usually say that the xc bikes cant jump any higher than 60 cm or some say not at all to be covered by warranty or to be safe. If that frame broke while he was on one of those big jumps, it couldve seriously injured him. I love blake and i dont want to see him injured. My advice is that noone should ride an xc bike like that. Look up videos of bikes breaking and youll see how dangerous it is.
