Totally agree, it's a free card you save 6c every time you buy $40 worth of fuel. So best way is to accumulate your discount so then when you are ready to fill up you save heaps.

Another great video, informative as always. A few points - NZ is a perfect roadtrip country because it has such a beautiful landscape, and so diverse too. Coming from Australia, I find costs between the countries extremely similar, with the only notable difference was we found petrol to be $2.50 per litre on average, more expensive than in Oz. Lovely memories from 6 weeks in a camper van driving through NZ during the FIFA world cup...only beef with NZ was getting decent wifi. It was a constant battle, even in paid camper van parks the wifi was mostly capped
Hi Dane and Stacey. Thank you for your wonderful nz video. They have be incredibly informative. However we attempted to recreate your experience (2 weeks in the north and four weeks in the south) however the cheapest we could cost this 6 week trip was at least $4000 more. The Maui for example in October November 2022 was $800.- $10000I understand you were travelling in the Winter but even the costs we well over $6000. As Aussies we needed to add 2300 for our airfares so doing it once and doing it well could cost between 12000 and $20000. Would love to heR your thoughts
Hey! Wow, yeah those prices have lifted quite a bit, that's a shame. Have a look at GoSee Travel for a few more options, and don't feel like you need to go with Maui only. We saw a lot of Britz (mid-tier) and even Mighty (lower tier) campervans that you should look at as well - they're just a little older models but essentially the same!
I remember eating very well at waterfront restaurants in Auckland and Wellington back in 2016 for about 40 kiwi bucks per person (including a glass of NZ white wine per).
Best and quality fish & chips is TOBYS seafood in Auckland....great low price for massive meal for a family...alot of people goes from the airport to Tobys

Hi guys... I been following you guys around the world. Appreciate your breakdown in costs... New Zealand is very expensive based on your figures.... I do agree having wheels is the best free experience you can get... sure you have to eat and stay and you provided really good budget accommodations.. in my experience in world travel.... staying in luxury doesn’t pay....not worth the value you get in return.... sometimes the simple things are always the best. As always guys love your info even though Im in Australia and who knows when we will be travelling internationally. Looking forward to your Motor Home tour videos stay safe
New Zealand is so beautiful. I really enjoyed my time there but did not enjoy the flight back. I found the cost of groceries, dining out and accommodations equivalent to prices in Metropolitan cities within the United States. They were pretty similar to Washington DC. My family was shocked but I wasn’t!
MorrisWGreenTV Hi Morris, $18.90 per hour is the minimum wage, the average is $33.80 per hour. Its all in Google if you want to look it up. If you want to follow anyones journey you can also look up Google Earth, isn’t the internet wonderful!!! Kapai! Harera....
Hi guys, I've been catching up on your videos! I also love to travel but fall into the baby boomer age group. That still doesn't stop me enjoying your travels though. I also see you live very close to me... One Tree Hill is my local walk too :). We are off in two weeks for a South Island motorhome holiday so that will be interesting (we got the more expensive motorhome with great heating and insulation).
@@sailingavocet We sure do! We travel as much as we can. Obviously just locally now with coronavirus but it was time to see more of New Zealand anyway!!
Hi Guy's awesome video. That being said. No way budget or cheap. Your rates are very close to here in the U.S. This is a top dollar destination. Once your talking hundreds per day that's a very expensive location. $32 for Wendy's really? That's insane. Budget there is 5 star anywhere else on the planet. Plus airfare is astronomical. Great info. Thanks for the share.👏👍
Airfare is definitely the killer! Though looking through these comments seems like the majority of people who have made the trip feel like it was worth the money, thats good to know
i know some people who went to NZ for medical purpose. Is NZ a hub for medical procedures? or is it for certain bodily issues? you know the things of medical in NZ?
Healthcare is free for Kiwis, not sure about visitors though,I know you will be looked after if anything happens, they won't leave you stranded in that way.
Other than a great health system, and some free inclusions, I've never really heard of anyone coming here for procedures. That's interesting to hear though!
Yes for Pacific Islanders it is a hub for medical procedures (cancer treatment etc) since they might die otherwise, buts it's not cheap like Thailand etc
Do you think it would be worth it to do a South Island trip in winter? I mean would I still be able to see the mountains surrounding Queenstown etc or will it be blocked out by cloud and fog? Will I be able to get out and go on walks and see the scenery or will it be freezing cold and hammering down rain every day?
You forgot to say how much hokey pokey ice cream costs (lol). There are unique foods in NZ like the venison- not the same as any elk or deer in the USA.
Your prices are pretty close to what we have here in hawaii. Your gasoline is a tad more expensive but pretty close. However, doctors visit at 90 nzd is a screaming bargain compared to here. I may hop on an airplane someday and book a cheap doctors visit
The doctors I've been going to since I was little here is $17. I've since moved further away but still make a 40 min drive to my childhood doctors so I don't have to pay $60 up the road from me lol
Yeah pretty similar pricing - though in the tourist hubs from our experience Hawaii is pricier. We haven't been to the more chill spots in Hawaii and really need to though!
@@DanegerAndStacey i used to work in security at the kona hawaii airport and i saw a lot of new zealand passports come thru. One time i asked a guy from tahiti how hawaii compared to tahiti and he said in a heavy french accent "the polynesians look like my brothers and sisters but they speak a different language" Personally, when i go on vacations, i go to the southern islands of japan down by taiwan. Its cheaper and way fewer tourists and tourist prices

You generally won't have trouble with internet in big cities but to be honest, NZ isn't really set up for remote work in the same way as places like Chiang Mai, Canggu etc. There are a few co-working places in Auckland but we haven't personally been to any. It might be worth looking into where the big universities are as you'll find more laptop friendly cafes etc

Really great and informative video thank you! Hopefully can get to Australia and nz from next September hopefully
same!
We're hoping the same, just in the opposite direction
Domestic airfares and the cost of the ferry with and without a vehicle between Wellington and Picton would have been great to touch on.
Great point!
Love this kind of info video. Daneger should start a podcast. Cracked up at the last part. lol
Haha thanks
As always guys love your info even though Im in Australia and who knows when we will be travelling internationally. Looking forward to your Motor Home tour videos stay safe
Thanks, Judy!
Glad you guys enjoyed it - the flight is a killer though for sure!
sadly the only thing I found cheap in NZ is the kiwi fruits in season.
Yes! Safety Wing Travel Insurance is legit! I had allergic reactions in Bali, they got it all covered.
Thanks for this video! It’s so helpful 👍🏼
So glad you found it helpful :)
Canada here and all things in comparison are more expensive in New Zealand. I’m curious as to what the average wage is there? Is there a minimum wage?
MorrisWGreenTV Hi Morris, $18.90 per hour is the minimum wage, the average is $33.80 per hour. Its all in Google if you want to look it up. If you want to follow anyones journey you can also look up Google Earth, isn’t the internet wonderful!!! Kapai! Harera....
Piere Vojzola Thanks for the info. Min wage in Canada is $11.45. The average wage is $26.83
New Zealand is very dear I love to visit someone day when Covid-19 is over.
Hi guys, I've been catching up on your videos! I also love to travel but fall into the baby boomer age group. That still doesn't stop me enjoying your travels though. I also see you live very close to me... One Tree Hill is my local walk too :). We are off in two weeks for a South Island motorhome holiday so that will be interesting (we got the more expensive motorhome with great heating and insulation).
you got this! Chase your dreams!
@@sailingavocet We sure do! We travel as much as we can. Obviously just locally now with coronavirus but it was time to see more of New Zealand anyway!!
Pleased to hear that - hope you guys are having the best time!
@@DanegerAndStacey Thanks - unfortunately I took ill so we've rescheduled now for October (all going well).
Get well soon!
Though looking through these comments seems like the majority of people who have made the trip feel like it was worth the money, thats good to know
Medical there are free medical centres around New Zealand generally at maraes
Very interesting to hear all the costs 😜. Still looks amazing
So grateful to live in this beautiful country ❤
Couldn't agree more!
i know some people who went to NZ for medical purpose.
You guys are lucky we can visit such places only in our dreams
One day!
where would you recommend to rent a car if you arrive in Christchurch ?
Do you think it would be worth it to do a South Island trip in winter? I mean would I still be able to see the mountains surrounding Queenstown etc or will it be blocked out by cloud and fog? Will I be able to get out and go on walks and see the scenery or will it be freezing cold and hammering down rain every day?
Absolutely worth it! Often the clearest days are actually in winter
if you come over the ditch I would love to show you my slice of the state
Beautiful! 💜💜💜
You forgot to say how much hokey pokey ice cream costs (lol). There are unique foods in NZ like the venison- not the same as any elk or deer in the USA.
True - totally missed the hokey pokey segment haha
Mate, how about stuff like going to Super Rugby / test matches?
Haha great call! How could we leave that out?! we'll include this in the next one
I really like the chapters edit that you used.
Glad to hear!
Same $17 and I think $90 is cheap for tourists especially if ya broke a bone or get really crook (sick).
Can you do stealth camping in your camper van
Stealth camping? Not sure what that is but there's nothing stealth about our massive campervan 😂
11:38...Ellerslie? Great video btw...cheers
😳 You guys have it rough with mobile data, eh... Here in Oz we get 1gb for $10, 10gb for $25...
Noice ending there, bro... 😎
For travelers it is, most places you can get free WiFi.
🤣 yeah things do probably come back in-line when you spend more , but at the bottom end it's pretty rough
Just beautiful!
He sure is!
I wish I could go back but the borders are closed :( Can't wait until we can visit NZ again - South Island this time :D
They closed the borders? I bought a ticket for to fly there in August. Will they let me in? :(
@@savingrob Good question, will they let you in, if they did you would have to quarantine and that would take up most of your holiday and August is just around the corner, I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya 🤞
Kia ora 🤙so appreciate your vids, I think prices are pretty good, budgeting def's helps, but that haircut bro, I would've done it for free 🤙😄
HAHA Stace actually pulled through and that cut was all G in the end, but funny to show that awkward bowl for a moment haha
Interesting. Good value I reckon
Thanks for sharing this 😍😍😍
How random that nz has wendy’s?! Australia doesn’t even have a wendy’s 😔
we have two Wendy's...the icecream and the burger joint in NZ actually
wow aussie
...so behind
Gutted! Wendys chicken burgers are fire
Wendy's was $30+ for 3? Is the dollar menu illegal???
hahahah welcome to New Zealand, it's expensive here!
Still bummed that I did hit get to visit NZ this year because of COVID-19.
I've found it reasonable to have a good time visiting NZ.
Keep it on the list, once we open those borders it's worth a visit for sure!
yay the accountant video! :) I love those!
I really should wear a suit and tie
@@DanegerAndStacey well i am 100% think that it will suit you ;)
Greetings from Jakarta. I just say WOW.. with the same price for a chicken, we got 7 kg here. I wonder, how much the regular workers in formal industry earn per month approximately
Minimum / trainee $15 / hour
Minimum / adult $18.90 / hour
Are there any cities good for folks who are working online? (I'm guessing wilder western side is hard since internet is not as abundant there?)
@@DanegerAndStacey The west coast where the glaciers are seems like an amazing place to park a camper but the internet is a huge barrier for us :D are you using any cellular booster like the ones they use in US?
an ounce of cannabis is around $400 NZD. hard to find also..
🤷 waste $$$
nah cheaper than that
*Would love to see more videos like this*
We've got about 15 others from around the world, just like this. Check the description if you haven't yet
This is a interesting video
I feel it it high on some of the food
lol 13:14 "..so much amazing shit that you can see.."
🤣
