I wrote this before the bout:
      “Lyoto Machida, Lyoto Machida.
      We have Karate movies,
So tell me who needs ya?
      You jump and you kick
      And we’ve seen it before.
But what we haven’t seen is
A wrestler put you through the floor.
      You kicked out Randy’s teeth,
      So Ol’ Chael’s gotta win!
You don’t count out a gangster
The biggest arms in West Linn.
      I can’t believe you agreed!
You signed it, I fooled ya.
When I send you back home,
Tell em Chael Sonnen schooled ya.”
Didn’t quite work out this way, but I love Chael and wanted him to see it before to give him some swagger.

Chael, speaking behalf of all MMA fans from around the world.

You beat the unbeatable possible Goat in the UFC at 185 for 24 outta 25 minutes. ( Won by ref stoppage due to ground strikes )
You beat the unbeatable possible Goat in the UFC at 205. ( Won by ref stoppage due to injury. )
You beat the WEC champion at WEC 36. (Won by Unanimous Decision)
You've beaten countless other world champions throughout your spectacular and most entertaining career.
All while keeping the Bad Guy image, even though, your the nicest guy in the world.
And the best part is, you don't even brag about all the nice things you've done behind the curtains as you must keep that Bad Guy imagine to sell out stadiums around the world.
    We thank you.
May you enjoy your well earned retirement.

Chael - I remember where I was when you beat Anderson 4 out of 5 rounds to win the MW Title. I definitely remember that legendary call-out after beating Stann! I remember being the only guy being in an L.A. British pub cheering for The Bad Guy in the #1 contender fight with Bisping. I remember how Anderson had to grab your shorts and give a "questionable" knee (thigh) to the chest (head) in the rematch. And who could ever forget that YOU, and only you, have come the closest to beating Jon fricking Jones...mere seconds away from wining that LHW strap!
Loved your pressers, love all the media you have done and will continue to do.
I just think the biggest question on everyone's mind is - Would you consider coming out of retirement to rematch Kevin James? It seems like everyone but the ref knew you were just fooling with the tap and James shouldn't have gotten the W on that! Total BS!

This is why Chael is so popular as a commentator, vlogger, storyteller, talker etc on YT, let alone as a fighter. This is about the healthiest mindset one can have as a successful but retiring athlete and almost anyone can learn from this talk - that identities in life are transient, not fixed and that we all can, should and deserve to let go of past passions and seek to redefine ourselves throughout life. As an injured athlete(non-competitive) this struck a chord with me today, thanks good ol Uncle Chael.

Chael created the blueprint for McGregor and other showmen in the fight game. Lets not forget how amazing Chael was in hyping up a fight and giving us all great moments. These moments always made life better. And for that, I thank you Sir!

I'm not gonna lie, i teared up when i watched Uncle Chael lay his gloves down that night. I'm sure I'm not alone, and i don't care what anyone thinks, i will always remember the American gangster, Uncle Chael P Sonnen, as the gift, God, and GOAT of MMA. And as long as we are lucky enough to watch him on RUclips, or on Ariel and the Bad guy, or in any shape or form, i will tune in, ears and eyes open, and with a smile on my face. Thank you Uncle Chael, for all the great fights, the commentary, the stories, the greatness, the entertainment, and above all inspiration. You truly are the GOAT 🙏💪💯💯💯💯

I used to not understand the Chael Sonnen effect and the fandom around it.
Then this RUclips channel started. I was slowly won over by the fight analysis. I stayed for the genuine personality.
This video, in my humble opinion on the internet, moves him to real deal Mt. Olympus status in MMA. World class fighter (in true Chael fashion), world class commentator, world class analyst, world class interviewer and now world class fight philosopher.
A true renaissance man through the ebbs and flows. Thank you for everything, champ.

A really intelligent, perceptive, funny, interesting, tough, affectionate, cool, empathetic dude who liked to teach, explain, promote understanding, tease, mock, bully and laugh. He will be remembered as a complex dude who will never be able to be summed up in anything less than a book. The greatest thing about Chael is that he never lost the ability to laugh at the absurdity of life. He intimated his most challenging moments and most bitter defeats in a way that helps the average guy deal with failure and adversity. He never took himself too seriously and demonstrated by example how to be a man. Thanks for the memories and keep talking to us! You are a great inspiration to many. He could make millions doing speaking engagements because everyone has always been hanging on waiting for the next thought or word he proffered.

Just as you were the first one to find a way to make fights happen and sell them, you're the first one who found a way to be remembered regardless of records.
No matter the record, there's always eventually gonna come someone better. Chael P. Sonnen transcended that by becoming a mentor to generations...

What you have contributed to the MMA world will live on long after you decided to walk away from the sport. As great and fearless as you were as a fighter, you're one of the few that has so much more to offer outside of the context of the octagon. You've inspired and continue to inspire whoever tunes in to hear you express your perspective which is always honest, genuine and not without it's unique and entertaining flair. I know I'll still be tuning in week after week, and not because you're a fighter, but because you're the one and only Chael Sonnen. Thanks for unapologetically being your authentic self and congratulations on an incredible career. 🙏🏻
