To be fair, the hosed cleaner you have is a cheap one, there are quiet tracked suction cleaners that clean the pools much more efficiently. Another criticism aside from the sponsor bias is that these are two completely different types of cleaners. The cordless cleaner is designed to assist with maintenance and while it can clean more effectively you have to constantly make sure it is recharged, emptied, and not stuck anywhere. The hosed cleaner uses the pool's own giant filter basket and functions as long as the pool itself is functional. This makes suction cleaners far more efficient in terms of long term use as you can set it down and it will clean your pool, not to mention a properly built pool will have surface-skimmers built-in.
Basically, don't buy the battery powered ones, a proper suction cleaner (unlike the one he has here) will do literally the same exact job but more efficiently and without any extra maintenance. You'll have to clean those filters either way so don't add another thing to clean on top of that.

Thanks for recapping the entire point of the video. it was intended to compare the benefits and hassles of each type of method. Yes, it was sponsored, which is why it wasn't a review or pitch for the Aiper product. Yes, the Aiper robot was in the video. Yes, I pointed out things I liked about it. I had never used a robotic pool vacuum before, so seemed like a great time to compare the two, head to head, without needing to buy one.
As for suction side cleaners, I agree they have outlandish benefits. But that hose in the pool is a pain in the butt. Every model I've owned over the past 4 decades has had issues. Specifically, the randomness of the pattern is always hit and miss without adjustments. And yes, charging and cleaning the robot is a pain in the butt.
In the end, I'm sorry that I let you and all of the others out there that think I compromised my integrity by taking a sponsorship that actually never endorsed a product. What I endorsed was the notion of a robot pool vacuum. As always, thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
      Cheers

Many thanks! It was a fun video to do. Except for the heat. Most of this was filmed just before sunset to avoid the record setting heat we were having. Thanks for tuning in!

Agreed! Sponsored content and reviews don't belong together. No matter what the creator wants to call the content-a review, a showcase, or a feature-it doesn’t really matter. It’s disheartening to see so many creators compromise their integrity just to cash in.

Ummmm - It was a comparison of the benefits and hassles of each type of method. In fact, I made sure to leave links to non-sponsored content. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Robotic pool cleaners are much better. In addition to extending the pool filter cleaning interval, your pool pump/motor will run much more efficiently. When I was using a suction side cleaner my pump was pumping significantly less water (gpm) with the suction side cleaner attached. My skimmer would lose much of its effectiveness also. Robotic cleaner is the way to go,
    Cordless or corded.

I'd suggest having a professional cleaning this pool. They will probably recommend an acid wash as well, the plaster is stained and the tiles are caked with minerals.

Thanks @coreylazy - we had it acid washed at the beginning of last season. It did nothing to help with the staining. The company told us we needed a re-plaster. Had another company say the same. Could just be that we don't have the correct people looking at it though. We help off on the tile cleaning thinking we'd get that done at the same time as the re-plaster. Eager to hear additional advice.

They are worthless!!! I have had 2 Aiper and they both broke at the 1 yr mark. No replacement no repairs. I took it apart and there is NO gasket and water leaks in and corrodes the electrical circuits.

Crap. That is scary. I keep seeing people have problems with them. Or so they say. The guys selling them think they are OK.
