So gypsum works well, I’m actually going to put lime on that area as well. Here’s the easy way to think of it If you need to loosed compacted soil, use this. If you have clay, and you’re trying to add something to amend the soil, add gypsum. Overall, if this is the plan and it’s something you’re willing to do. I’d just add a couple inches of topsoil. I’ll also be doing that in fall to my low spot in my yard.
I live in South Dakota and gypsum did not work for me. I was going to use mechanical aeration but it was going to cost me 265.00 dollars to do my front and back yard. I just got my Soft Soil product and I can't wait to use it this weekend! Good luck on your yard!
@@GetonmylawnMN I need to perform the screwdriver test to really see the full effect, but the ground does feel “softer” on the feet when I walk around. That being said, I have a heavy clay and rock soil that’s only four years old (new construction) and it’s never had a mechanical core aeration performed. It needs a lot of work.
@@Commander_D well, sounds like you’re on it. I have to put more soil in the area I was working on in the video. I’ll do that in fall when I can plant in the area.
Air8 has some other beneficial things in it like Humic Acid and Potash. Where as this product is mostly just dish soap. It would be interesting to compare this product vs. Air8 vs dawn soap head to head.
If you’re talking about the ortho dial and spray, that would be hard as it’s not very big. But any sprayer will work. I used hand pump ones in the past on my old, smaller yard.
I just got into lawn care hobby and this video is a big help. I was thinking about gypsum but I’ll try this first

Thanks for this video. I’ve been using N-Ext Air 8, but have been looking to find a cheaper alternative that’s just as good.
Yeah, I’ve seen that product. Are you happy with the results? The first season I used this, I was shocked at how well it worked.

Liquid aeration does not work. University studies will prove this but of course people selling it will say otherwise.

Baby shampoo will do the same thing for literally pennies per yard.
Baby Shampoo is the best kept secret in lawn care. I also use it as a surfactant for certain weed killing applications like Tenacity/Mesotrione.
Can you use ortho sprayer

Why not just use baby shampoo instead ?
Will it for sure ?have you used baby shampoo ?
