    Sales videos are definitely one-sided, they don't present the whole picture very well but neither do debunking videos. Usually the full truth is somewhere in the middle where it gets more boring. I've already said a lot of what was said in this video on my channel, very little new information presented here although your presentation is far more polished than mind. I first started saying this stuff in my video where I discuss liquid aerate vs core but I also present some of the benefits of using the liquid products while also informing viewers that they are optional products and unnecessary and a bit overhyped via sales language. Personally I mechanically core aerate and suggest my viewers do the same but I also apply ocassional apps of liquids for the carbon component and wetting effect in regards to water penetration. I love how you go down to the scientific level in your analysis and you are obviously a good marketer too, you are slinging free information packaged in a shocking delivery and now targeting the YT algorithm. I'm impressed but I dislike the demonizing of people. At some point you may debunk me and point out some things I've said wrong or worded poorly and that's fine but viewers of your channel should always keep in mind the one-sidedness of your delivery and how the truth you present is not the full truth due to the omission of information you purposefully ignore. Keep up your mission for science based information and halting misinformation, im all for that, but I hope that one day you'll see the value in not presenting your message in disguise while also presenting a multi sided message, one that takes larger complexities into consideration. For instance liquid aerate products do benefit the soil in some other ways which you could go into for the viewers sake. If we can increase critters in the lawn then those critters can help with physical aeration in a natural way. The carbon component in liquid aeration products can help support biological life in the soil - is it the best way to do it? That's an interesting question to look into but it's at least a tool in shed. Can you do it by buying cheaper products? Yeah probably but we live in a consumer society and people buy stuff at their own discretion all the time so sales people have to be there to make that possible. As a creator in the lawn care space I only feel comfortable suggesting people buy products if I understand how they work and can justify buying the products myself, that's something more lawn care pros and diy creators need to jump on board with, hopefully you'll push them to improve and look to alternatives and hopefully you'll grow too, id like to see you tackle these topics in a more comprehensive way, in a systemic way. I hope to hear back from you, feel free to reach out to me anytime.

      Also your part about liquid aeration products being beneficial based on their carbon contribution, that's way off. You could say that there are benefits to them being used as wetting agents but even then they are inferior to other wetting agent products that are available on the market today.

    In some of what you have said I agree. However, there are things in the soil that microorganisms can break down. On the lawncology And any of the other ones that I follow, they do not talk about liquid aeration being any magic cure. They simply say that things like molasses combined with other ingredients can help increase the activity of these microorganisms to break down items which are in the soil. If that is so, I would certainly think that would lessen compaction. Now, I am definitely a full believer in mechanical aeration. I am a full believer in punching holes in the soil and removing plugs. So are all of the RUclips people I seem to follow. Any of the ones that I follow are also I believe are in such. Some of them are not a believer in just poking holes with spikes on your shoes or with non-plug removal aeration. Basically the ones I have heard discuss that in particular are saying that if you just poke a hole in the soil eventually that soil will refill that hole. So I agree with that. And I definitely agree with pulling out plugs. I personally then would move those plugs to an area of the grass which need to be filled. Basically a hole in my grass or in my dirt which is easier to fill with the plugs then with going out and buying sand and soil combined. I have not seen anybody disagree with that. Maybe I just don't follow the ones that you are referring to. And even the one who said that liquid aeration was debunked also went on to say that it would do some benefit over a period of several or maybe even many years. Remember if you are having microorganisms eat thatch or even other items below the surface that would be a big help as far as I could tell. Of course, I should just tell everybody I am an accountant. I have a few degrees. I have an IQ of only 135. I am not a scientist. I have a business which I have run and owned for about 35 years. I have been self-employed for about 40 years. I do not work in the lawn care industry. And I do not work in science. I just work in logic. And so far nobody has told me on any of the people I follow including lawncology that liquid aeration is the only way to go. Nobody has told me that liquid aeration is a fast way to go. And in fact when it cools down in a couple of months in Las Vegas, I plan on having plugs pulled out of my lawn and the entire small lawn aerated. Oh I should tell you I have a very small lawn. My degrees are in business administration and accounting. And a minor in psychology. I still think Heidi behind a cartoon is not the way to go. If you want to convince people show us your bona fides. That would definitely go a long way for me to come back and say, this is a scientist and he has got a point of view to be reckoned with. Until then I will continue to watch your videos, the same way that I do watch the videos of South Park. Thank you. Even if I don't know whether you were correct 100% of the cases, I do know you do slant yourself towards your point of view. But then so does everybody. Including myself. I will watch the next one after I get done with this one. So you are getting, what you are looking for, eyeballs on your RUclips in order to make money or and get recognition. If you would love to get a hold of me off of RUclips, you are welcome to do so and I will keep a confidence about your identity. Although I do like John Perry and have a great deal of respect for him and GCF, I see no real world benefit from using AIR-8 overt the past 2 years. Maybe something improves at a molecular level, or on the white board, but it hasn't done jack shit for my compaction. 18 months ago I applied 1gal to a 500sq/ft area close to my foundation where chrysanthemums were growing in hard pack. Did another gallon a year later and I see no difference today. What sold me was the guy sticking his 4ft. soil probe into the ground using only 1 hand. Hah. so AIR-8 is getting kicked to the curb. Still on the fence with RGS which I've applied about 2.5gal per acre last fall, this summer and this fall on the main area along with max rates of Micro-Green, Green Pop and Green Effect but still waiting for my grass to be as green as it was when using the cheapest shit from WalMart. Pretty frustration going from a lawn maintenance budget of $300 a year to $1500 without a visible difference.I really would like to get your opining on RGS and Humics, Fulvics and Sea kelp in general

    Just stop. This is a debunking video that suffers from the same flaws as the videos it's debunking. I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm saying It lacks context and evidence. Some note worthy flaws is there is no mention of biological interplay, other than the grass it's self. This is where context would be helpful. A gulf course green doesn't contain much life, but a lot of lawns do. Warms, insects, and plant roots naturally alleviate soil compaction, if they didn't all the soil on earth would be hard as a rock. Roots chase water and insects chase roots. This would indicate that you can elevate soil compaction by increasing the permeability of the soil, then letting natural processes take it from there. Wet soil also requires less mechanical force to separate, so compaction might be the same but it's hardness will be lower. This will allow warms and roots to move through it more easily.
    Just for run you can compare Styrofoam and water. Styrofoam is a lot less dense than water, but it would take a lot of energy to swim through Styrofoam compared to swimming through water.
    Some context bound demonstrations would go a long way to help the video.

All I got was a recording and the ability to leave my name and telephone number. Of course they say that they could use my name in their parodies or that's the wrong way to put it but in their RUclips channel. They may even use my telephone number in there. However that's not a problem if they should. I was going to give them my email address but I'd much rather hear from them faster if they're willing to tell me who they are and what their background is. Until then that phone number is worthless to me and probably to you and to anybody else. But remember they will possibly use your phone number and give it out to the world. Thank God that's not a problem with me. So, if you do not mind your phone number giving out, or being made fun of online, or in any other way, feel free to call that number. I'm so old it doesn't matter. I am self-employed so my employer will not fire me. And none of my employees really would give a damn. In fact they might find it humorous. Heck I might even find it humorous. I just noticed in a particular sequence here that John of lawncology started to say something and did say it. But then was cut off before he could possibly say anything more. The subject was whether or not a surfactant could change the pH balance. Maybe not. Then it goes on to say that therefore it's not a big enough factor to change the density. The amount of soap, which is what a surfactant is from my understanding, that I use to wash my dishes does not change the dish but it does remove the dirt. If I'd used a straight acid on my dishes well that would be a different story. Maybe even if I'd used five gallons of it in my dishwasher. I know it would change my dishwasher. Lol

These are the Guaranteed Analysis, people who think 8% or 12% humic acid is going to decompact their soil I have a bridge to sell them. It plain and simple. You are sold a bottle of BS that tells you it has 12-14% "bio-stimulants" but are never told what the other 90% or so of the bottle is.
      Where is the control test done by an independent party testing this products for effectiveness? The conclusion of matt's video was that it doesn't relieve compaction, but it does the other things it claims to do, which is soften the soil to allow better water/nutrient penetration and root growth. Jon made another video about the university studies: ruclips.net/video/kXuEVldW_q4/видео.html. You didn't touch that one. You said there's no evidence to support his claim, but he presented the evidence there. So why'd you claim there's no evidence? Maybe you can rebut the evidence, or find holes in that study, but you didn't do that.

    • @TurfTruth
      @TurfTruth  2 года назад +2

      Some liquid aeration products may have a wetting-agent effect, which can be beneficial if soil moisture is a limiting factor. Of course, this would be an expensive option compared to products designed as soil wetting agents which are normally less expensive.
      We will go into humic and fulvic acids in the next season, but in short, they can be beneficial in very specific stress situations. If these stresses are not present, using humic and fulvic acid is expensive and will not likely result in better quality turf than urea.

    While I find your scientific explanations concise and highly educational, I do have a beef with the way you go about it. Perhaps the people making videos should have a disclaimer that the best way to relieve compaction and decrease bulk density in turf soils is by performing mechanical aeration. You could have explained that mechanical aeration is ideally best performed when soil conditions are conducive to not only pull a deep plug but to also fracture the soil profile around the hole from the violence of driving the tine into and out of the ground. I've been forced to aerate greens when they were so wet the core would suck back into the hole. When a club gives you two days to aerify, you have to try to get it done even if it wasn't the best conditions. Most people with any turf knowledge know that mechanical aerification is the best way to relieve compaction but attacking and belittling people in some kind of vendetta brings to question your motives. Why can't you generalize claims without singling out individuals and explain the faults you see and present the science as you see it. I guess this is the new, "turf police", in charge of making sure that one of the most successful and resilient plant species on the planet is grown under one standardized method.

    • @bluegrassbuddha7154
      @bluegrassbuddha7154 2 года назад +1

      You have to ask yourself, what is the value of aerating dry rock hard clay soil with a spoon tine aerator? What depth can you even achieve? Is there any fracture involved? If there is fracture then is it greater than a depth of 1 inch? If it is at 1 inch then what is the valve to the root system that we are trying to achieve? Conversely, if that same, heavy clay soil is aerified when saturated and assuming a greater depth, does the tine not compact the hole wall sealing off lateral air movement from the hole? What is the long term value for all this work when the soil chemistry and basic structure blends back together over time. Ideally aeration is best achieved by the actual mechanical process followed by filling the hole with a material of larger physical property or that of carbon base to feed microbes. The goal of aeration is to increase root mass and structure thus giving more sustainability to the plant. As these roots cycle, voids are created helping to subsoil beyond the aerification hole. Eventually the cycling of deeper rooting is helping to relieve bulk densities over time. I think of many ways to achieve this using nutrients and soil conditioners. If the goal of aeration is to increase rooting depth and mass then why not think that way in a seasonal application program? There are many ways to achieve increase root mass and health.
