    This was super helpful. I am interviewing for Ph.D. and PsyD programs, and I've noticed a significant amount of advice for Ph.D. and not as many resources for PsyD interviews. Thanks, Dr. Casey!

    I really appreciate you making this video. This helps many of us as we prepare for our interviews. I like how you said we don’t have to be perfect. Good point that effective eye contact helps depending on cultural background. The reminder to slow down with talking is helpful as well.

      So happy it helped! It can be so nerve wracking and I was fortunate to have a mentor guide me through at the time!

    When you interviewed, did you have any indication that you were going to get accepted into the program based on the dialogue you were having with your interviewer?

    Thank you Dr. Kristen! I’m still on the fence about the Masters in mental health counseling vs. the Psy.D since cost and time are very big factors in deciding. Is there any way to get experience in the field as an undergrad student if you’re an online student?

    I'd love to know how many, if any, truly nontraditional students you had in your PsyD program (I'm in my early 40s) and am interested in the makeup of students. Thanks!

      Hi! Great question. I’d say (from what I can remember) there were about 2 or 3. Our cohort had about 17 students. On internship there were a few more non-traditional students that I had the pleasure of working with, too. Hope this helps!

    • @drkristencasey
      @drkristencasey  3 года назад

      Hey there! Same as in person but I’d take note of the virtual issues that may arise. I’d usually ask “is it okay to ask questions throughout or wait until the end?” And “if we get disconnected, is there a number I should call?”

    As i have only 2 publication. Is it possible for me to pursue Psyd ? I m really confused .

    • @drkristencasey

      Hi Abhisehek, thanks for commenting! In the United States, it depends on the school and the PsyD program. Some of them require publications, some of them do not. You'll have to check on their website specifically. Here are a list of APA-accredited programs in the US: www.accreditation.apa.org/accredited-programs

    Hello, I-am a psychology student from India interested in getting a PsyD in Clinical Psychology. Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "population of interest"?

    • @drkristencasey
      @drkristencasey  2 года назад

      Hello! Thanks for your question. It’s basically the type of clients or work you’d like to do. Some people want to work with adults or teens or children. More specifically, they may want to work with adults with anxiety or teens with depression. They might want to provide evidence-based psychotherapy or only assessments (or both!)

      Great question! In the U.S. - you can get a BA then a PSYD. Some people get a masters in between but sometimes that is not necessary
