    I’m a 58 year old with Parkinson’s disease. I thought I would try your 5 minute cardio. I can do most of it, but definitely not ready for public viewing. Lol. My balance is not so great but I’m going to keep trying. Just have to modify sometimes. Thank you so much for doing these workouts!!! The length is perfect for me!

    Great work outs and topped with good introduction to how and why!
    I am trying to regain weight and muscle at present! I am eating extra calories and seriously putting in the hard yards!
    I am recovering from breast cancer that’s why I lost weigh, slowly coming back and truly appreciate the time and effort you spend on these workouts!

    I'm 53 and I love this work out, but can't do all of it, due to an "overuse" knee injury. I've been doing your knee strengthening exercises for a week now and am feeling a little better. Why do the reverse lunges bother the injured knee upon stepping back and not when it's the stabilized knee? By the way, the scenery is beautiful in this video. Looks like the Sierras.

    Love this workout. I’m 59 years old and am having trouble with timing my legs. I think this will do the trick. Some other workouts are made for 20 year olds and totally in doable. Your video is tough but great moves that I think will work for me..

    Thanks, loved the exercises. 😍😍😍😍😍😍I need to add some variety to my workout, specially for legs and these ones are amazing but, I as you pointed out, I need to use some weights because I’m not a beginner. Sending love from Portugal 🇵🇹

    This is great, thanks Debra. I just did this on my front porch here, and used. kitchen stool for my step. I was inspired by your being outside. This is good to do right now while I can't do much upper body or weight right now with my should pain. This is great, I've done the Mon/Fri segment a few times now and this week will add in Wed. Thanks again.

    Loved this , Im 70 and i have been exercising for 50 years and the one thing i want is to firm up and slim down my legs. But i do have to eat better. I have a breakfast and then salad fro lunch and nothing else to eat for the rest of the day. I eat when Im hungry but i would say i have to eat lore especially protein. My question is. Is it still possible for me to slim down my legs and firm up at my age?

    I'm 59 and have lost a lot of muscle after menopause. I've started lifting weights to help. I've read that Creatine helps build muscle. What do you advise about this? Love your videos!!

    Thank you for the great workout - though both my 59 year old knees have old dancing and hiking injuries so squats and lunges can be challenging at times. Ergo, I do a lot of mat work. Do you have other knee friendly exercise routines that I've missed? Aside from the knees, I can pretty much do most exercises and lift heavy. There's one other question I have, the more muscular I get, the more I weigh. Yet I've gone down 2 sizes and I look and feel good. I remember when I was younger and lifted a lot I weighed way more than I do now!

    It's 8 pm at my house and I am getting ready to exercise. I watched the video and it looks like what I need. I am not a morning person so I often exercise or walk in the evenings. Is this ok or should I make a real effort to exercise in the morning?

    • @Flipping50TV
      @Flipping50TV  7 лет назад +7

      For hormone balance... the intense exercise should be done earlier in the day ideally. More relaxing exercise - later is fine!

    • @ampa4989
      @ampa4989 4 года назад

      The most important thing is that your do exercise. If you cannot get yourself to do it in the morning, don't then say, "Well, what's the point?" then just stop altogether or only do yoga or something. Just do the best you can.

      Hi Tertodmci, I will share a quick comment here. We're all different. I've seen it work for some of my friends and colleagues in health and wellness, and others feel terrible doing it and lack energy. You've got to test what works for you (both with energy and with your blood work and health measures). For me personally, it's about shifting to more metabolic efficiency by teaching my body to burn more fat and balancing that with enough good carbohydrates for an active life and good mood. We are not all the same!

      There are some great ways to use lower body with a ball so you can avoid the pressure to your knees. I have a few videos on the channel showing pain-free knees and what do to if you love lunges and hate how they feel- look around!

    I have a question. I was told that you should have your protein about an hour after you workout because that goes right to your muscle to build for recovery. But here you saying to have a high protein breakfast before you work out. Can you explain more in detail about this? I appreciate you and all your doing to help us out here. Carrie

    • @Flipping50TV
      @Flipping50TV  7 лет назад +6

      Hi Carrie- definitely pre and post nutrition (high protein for those of us older than 50...because even if we're fit we don't process it as well as we did when we were younger. Before and or after...depending on timing of exercise and the intensity of it. Light to moderate exercisers... no need to overcompensate. But if you're reaching fatigue you have to have protein to repair the breakdown that happens with exercise.

    • @debraatkinson8612
      @debraatkinson8612 5 лет назад

      It's all in what time schedule you're on. You don't have to eat before... but I would never advise women in hormone change to fast before exercise unless they have tons of energy and just can't tolerate food before exercise. I work for 3-4 hours before I break to workout.. so yes, absolutely I've had a high protein breakfast before. It's a must to keep muscle! But without knowing your timing and schedule it's hard to say what's right for you.

  • @laurettelaliberte8864
    @laurettelaliberte8864 7 лет назад +4

    If you have bad knees and/or ankles, will these strengthen them or make them worse? I've had several ankle injuries from sports when I was younger ( I was on the track, softball, and basketball teams at my school and studied ballet for 15 years.) and arthroscopic surgery on my right knee; I also now have balance issues due to hearing impairment from head trauma; I'm 52 now and approximately 40 overwieght. Ive never had trouble keeping up with workouts of any size or intensity, but my knee and both ankles really feel it later. I work out 5 - 6 days a week, 90 minutes per day, mixed between free weights, yoga, ballet, and kickboxing or just walking for one hour on the days my knee is too bad.

    • @Flipping50TV
      @Flipping50TV  7 лет назад +3

      I would focus on mobility and stability with your ankles first. You are squatting every day sitting and standing. Talk to your physician about any limitations you've got. I would recommend things like yoga that will help you move through range of motion and strengthen with balances. We all need strength in the lower body your ankles are your foundation for knees, hips lower back... so- them first!

      Flipping50 thanks.

    • @Flipping50TV
      @Flipping50TV  7 лет назад +1

      Laurette- I would not start with these. I would do some of the knee strengthening exercises that are more isolation of the muscles surrounding the knee for a period of time first, Lunges and squats, step ups...can do that if you're apparently healthy with no pain but if you already have some you may want to stay away from them. We're each put together a little differently so I can't give you a definitive answer on what will be true for you. Look for the knee strengthening exercises here. or here: www.flippingfifty.com/the-whole-flip

    So either do step-ups or the kneeling leg lifts for the 3rd set depending on the day of the week? I am de-conditioned and want to get back to weight training and yoga with some brisk walking and mild HIIT for my cardio. Should I go straight to weight training or stick with the bodyweight exercises to begin?

    I know this is an older video, but hopefully you will see my question. I have lost 27 pounds in 5 months. Over all pretty happy with the results. However I have fat right above my belly button that won’t go away. I don’t think I need to lose anymore weight. Any exercise to help with this? Also, help with arms?!? Looking for exercises I can do with equipment.

I have a lot of energy, & I see looks of surprise (sometimes what I would call shock) if I tell people my age; my mother and my sister had children in thier 40s - that being said, I think the wisest thing anybody can do is to keep active - keep moving - as you say, it will really make a big difference.
