All the actors in this series were phenomenal
If someone has c diff I promise nobody is going into that room with their hair free flowing like that
C diff is contact precaution so most people are just wearing gown and gloves
@oboshienaa nurse's didn't always glove up and gown up for me, and they should have. I had it a few weeks, just thought it was crohns related and I had a flare.
@@popcat4941 yeah nurses and cna can be very careless when it comes to precautions. I cringe sometimes when they grab certain things with their bare hands
@@oboshienaaThat’s because they are overworked and understaffed.
@@oboshienaaI got C. diff from improperly cleaned colonoscopy equipment. It also gave me h. Pilori. I was sick immediately after the colonoscopy. The doctor’s nurse (also his wife) wouldn’t let me talk to the doctor and kept blowing me off every time I called for weeks.
Fortunately for me, I called one last time on a Friday, and she had taken the day off. The substitute nurse, was kind and listened to me. She immediately told the doctor and they got me in to get tested the same day. By that afternoon, I had a treatment plan, meds, and OTC probiotics to help fight the C. Diff.
I shudder to think what would have happened had the doctor’s wife answered the phone and blown me off again. After I got well (which took a couple of months), I called the doctor, thanked him for helping me, then explained how badly his wife had treated me and that was why I couldn’t remain his patient. 🤦♀️
Always finish your antibiotics when prescribed and don’t take them when they’re not
errr.... what do you mean by finish? finish the box of pill? or once you have taken like prescribe you stop even if there still some in the box? or you're given just the right amount?
@@9LiveEmpireusually you’re given the right amount but if not just take exactly how the doctors said and no more or less. Often times people will stop feeling sick but not finish the prescribed round so not all the bacteria is killed. This causes resistances because those bacteria will remember that specific antibiotic and be able to fight it off. They can also transfer resistances to other bacteria
Plot twist: he was taking the right medication, the superbug is actually a parasite that slowly eats him from the inside
(i know it’s not happening lol)
I love this channel and the fact that people can actually see my comment is wild
2nd opinion
😂😂😂😂😂😂
[Advancement: How Did We Get Here?]
LMAOOO 😭😭
💀
He would have to have been doing this constantly to contract a super bug resistant to all antibiotics
It was a literal bug. It was a parasite.
I contracted chronic C-Diff from being prescribed the correct medication for MRSA…I just apparently didn’t have MRSA. I lost my job, almost lost my kid, I almost died. I had to have fecal replacement surgery (it’s exactly what it sounds like) after a year of battling the disease. I was @ the point they were asking me about advanced directives @ 38yr old…it sucked. @one point I weighed 94lbs. Now even tho I’m technically “cured” I still need to carry a card issued by the CDC, can never have a hospital roomie, and all I have to do is try to never take antibiotics again. Ever.
I’d like to also state that I wasn’t overtaking any antibiotics. I took one particular antibiotic: clindamycin.
Apparently it’s famous for giving ppl c-diff. ESP ppl who already have weird immune systems (I have lupus)
If you have leftover medication please take it to your local pharmacy to be properly disposed of, including veterinary medication. They will do this for free.
No some of them don't. They tell you to bring it to your local law enforcement depending on what it is.
Outdated meds in your medicine cabinet is dangerous, people are dumb!😂😂😂😂😂😂
This episode was so far out of touch it was crazy
Wasn’t so much of them being outdated, but the fact he built a resistance to them. The more you take them the more the body becomes immune to them. True enough people are dumb though.
It’s not the expiration date that is the problem it’s that when someone doesn’t finish a full course of medicine not all of the pathogens die and the ones that survive become resistant to that medicine and reproduce.
@@Liamallen125 agian none of that makes sense for the meds he was taking
@@Liamallen125occurred. That's why you are told to take all of the medication even if you are feeling better.
Dr. House: V1c0d1n? Where? 😂
This is what happens when you try to diagnose yourself. Lesson learned. 😅😢
This is an ad for AMA
So the chances of this are actually pretty close to zero and I have chemistry degree with Drugs and Toxicology as major... Most hospitals have locked in a safe 4 antibiotics of last resort, and you cannot get them on presciption. These are carbapenems and piperacillin/tazobactam... Just thought you would like to hear some truth for once.
Yes, I like my medical shows but they get a little bit of info and build a whole ridiculous scenario off it, then people take it as actual information.
Normal ppl: Vicodin = Medicine
Me: Vicodin = House Reference
Dude. Colostomy? lol. Total TV BS.
I had cdiff from too many antibiotics for a bladder infection. No one told me about probiotics. Now, I don't take antibiotics without probiotics. I suffered with cdiff for a month. A week in the hospital and $ 800 later I learned my lesson
If nobody told you it wasn't your lesson to learn. It was their fault for not teaching you Something you need to know.
What do you think what would have Dr Murphy done if he was there diagnosing the patient and discovered that😅😅😅
What would his reaction be
As he has found the cause
People dont take this seriously. I remember during covid a co work, she said her daughter had a fever. So she gave her some left over Amoxicillin. I was like so your a NP or a doctor. She was like no I'm a mother. I was like, no disrespect, but you don't know if your daughter needs to take antibiotics. You should never use unuesed prescription meds. She was not happy hearing that.
Send in the bacteriophages!!!
And this right here is a good reason why they teach us at a young age that self-medication (especially without a doctor's prescription) is a bad idea
When Grey’s Anatomy did this, they had a fecal transplant.
Is this series or movie anyone knows? What's the name
for those who are wondering, this show is called the good doctor
My dad almost died from C Diff. Not pretty.
Yeah, that's not the way it works.
So any individual person is extremely (like, astronomically) unlikely to grow a resistant strain. What happens is that if you are carrying or pick up a resistant strain, then you take antibiotics that kill off all the bugs but the resistant ones, you now have given those resistant bacteria a perfect environment to flourish and you've got an issue. If you pick up a MERSA strain, it will be hard to fight because you have taken out one category of antbitiocs. If you have picked up a VERSA strain, even harder. But you don't *make* resistant strains by taking antibiotics incorrectly, you just make them dominant in your body.
phages:
bruh
As an RN this is bullshit
I'm also a real nigga
Really? How? Do tell! Thanks in advance.
@@spinmaster0you don’t just become resistant to antibiotics by taking left over meds. You’d have to be taking them consistently for a long period of time and even then it doesn’t happen like that. C. Diff is not a super bug - since I’ve had it 6x now and treated it with the same antibiotic every single time. Oh and there’s no way they’d be in a C. Diff patient’s room without full protection. C. Diff outbreak would be a nightmare. Docs and nurses treating me were wearing more protection than when I had COVID.
His antibiotic use caused C. Diff but it did not cause a “super bug that was resistant to all medication.” And I’ve never heard of C. Diff causing someone to get an ostomy bag but could be wrong on that point.
@@spinmaster0I’ve had 2 C Diff infections. While there is indeed a dangerous “superbug” variant that is resistant to traditional antibiotic treatment, there are still some last ditch options left before deciding to remove the colon, namely fecal transplant.
The short is pretty skewed as well, so who knows what else he took, but most of the medications he listed were either pain killers or steroids (prednisone), not antibiotics.
@@spinmaster0 I've had cliff. There is a specific medicine through iv that they use at first. Also anytime you take an antibiotic you should take a probiotic as well. Many antibiotics will kill off both good and bad bacteria, leaving you susceptible to cdif.
Ppl taking abs for whatever whenever now we have ton of resistant strains: true
Note: this is a TV show (you can’t get most of those drugs without prescription 😂 “leftovers” LOL is this guy a meds pusher ?
