The last lines really destroyed me. "You don't want to be my girlfriend because I have autism". I'm in a wheelchair. I work in finance, I love alone, I cook, and I care for animals. Dating is so hard with a disability. I suffer from extreme loneliness. It's hard when the very first thing people see is your inadequacy. They never realize where you can shine.
I'm so sorry that people are quick to dismiss you without being open to who you are inside. You sound like a wonderful person. I hope the right person comes along for you, someone who really sees you. Sending you a hug

This is very to almost exact to my life, I’m not in a wheelchair but I have many conditions such as autism, Tourette’s and other ones that effect me. But others just see those and don’t see me for me. I am right now very lonely I have no friends, get bullied and many other things. I go to high school and being lonely and misunderstood is very hard. I am quite smart above my age level, but as I can hear more then others I can’t hear my own thoughts most of the time as I’m just listening to others conversations by accident. I have always wanted to be a doctor of some sort but I get/am very anxious about if that is possible. My teachers, family and I all know I have the level of iq to get in or close to being a doctor, but as I have conditions I always was concerned that they would say I couldn’t. I want to be able to help others, learn more and be able to just be there if someone needs me. I have never let my conditions stop me from doing what I want and I hope in the future I will be able to become a doctor of some sort. I was hoping to have friends by my side though these tough times but I am doing okay by myself. I am excelling in most to all subjects, I have never let the bullies get to me and I have taught myself to do many things I though I would never be able to do like speak publicly and be able to do things alone. I want everyone to know that nothing can stop them and I want to prove to the people who said I couldn’t be a doctor or who said I would never succeed and show them I can. Don’t let being in a wheelchair stop you, you have a lot in life to look forward to, yes you may not friends or a lover but that doesn’t change anything about how much you can accomplish. I wish you the best and hope that maybe you will find someone as a friend or lover.❤

"You don't want to be my girlfriend because I have autism" That line fucking destroyed me. My fiance is autistic and it's easier to talk to him than anyone else. I wouldn't trade him for all the riches and pleasures in the world.

I'm worried for that young boy and the decision his parents made for his life.
Do you all think that they made the right decision for their son???
I can't imagine that boy going through life, unable to speak clearly from his feelings but only through alternative communication options that may not be pleasant all the time all because his parents refused the risk for that surgery that may actually help that boy to speak.
And from what Dr. Shaun had mentioned, I will definitely be more sympathetic for that boy because of his unfortunate life of being unable to socialize well with others because of what his parents had decided for him.
I understand every parents' emotional concerns for their children's well-being. But if those children have their lives destroyed because their parents made a decision from their overprotective, paranoid, ignorant egos, I just can't forgive those parents for making that decision that ruined their children.
That kid is not real for one.
Then after that, if it was real. No such surgery exists to restore the vocal cords using your own cartilage, it doesn't make anatomical sense. So yes they did make the right choice by not putting their kids through surgery.
And lastly, there are so many ways people can communicate without speech and so many communities they find acceptance in. Lacking speech does not make someone completely incapable of navigating life.
@@foolishlyfoolhardy6004 that not what the question narrative was, the real answer is it doesnt matter they chose what they chose to avoid more likely damage to narratively remove the power that shaun had in his idea to make him grow as a character pointing out an fictional procedure doesnt relate to the narrative its a show lol
@izuna303 The narrative of the show is also about ableism against someone who can do something but does it differently. Yet they made him the most ableistic one in this scenario, and perpetuated the dem0nisation of asistive communication devices.

@@izuna303 the diagnoses are less realistic - see above where we discussed that the surgery does not exist and isnt really in the realm of possibility. Not to mention special nonsensical images flash across the screen, and then all of a sudden he knows.
At least in house they brainstorm, and a lot of the illnesses and treatments are more accurate.
House is also unapologetically an a*hole who is ableist and all other kinds of -ists. Shaun is also an a*hole but we're meant to believe he isn't, once again see above - really ableist by acting like not being able to speak is a worst case scenario.

99 % he is an amazing surgeon but this an example of the 1 % where he is a problem. I hate to admit it, but that 1% *really* matters. If he could do something about it, that would help his career

Forget career, Shaun is a great asset to society. But, our culture doesn't accepts imperfections
@@laxankpurohit1128 because disabilities, especially ones that involve the brain, are *bad*. He's not helping anyone when he acts impulsively like this or has a breakdown during an operation he is preforming. He's definitely not helping himself.
Well, we are all impulsive at some time Or the other. But tend to take moral high ground when someone else has a moment. Just because we consider ourself normal and consider ourself in position of authority.
I was a stammerer and rejected by all institutions in spite of my best knowledge.
I opened my own teaching business, and attracting students from those institutions. Society, does act prejudiced in many ways.
