Thx. I bought just the black cold weather bag & can’t figure out how to snap over the zipper. Thinking now that the snaps must be where connects to the green bag? Definitely a versatile system. Good to see how it all fits together. Thx
Thank you for the comments and review. The cot looks sturdy and the weight is a plus but at 5' 10" one or both ends could be off the cot. Happy Camping!
Surprisingly I didn't find myself hanging off either end. Was pleasantly impressed with this cot. The other guy I hunted with had a different one that was really squeaky and didn't even think of that possible issue. But mine didn't seem to be noisy at all.
Yeah I’m really trying to reduce weight on mine too, trying not to bring so many things as well, are you going to have what you got a have, love the video, good luck on your trip, be safe.
Im thinking about buying the MSS sleep system it looks great because you can use it all year around like you said. I have something like that a hooped Dutch Army bivy and make it in to a bedroll and i think the MSS would be great like that. Do you think the MMS would be good as a bedroll? Check my video with the bedroll so you know what i mean.
Do yourself a favor and get a closed cell foam pad under your bag. Slept on the snow with mine at 25F and froze. That was with a 3 inch insulated klymit recon air mattress and reflectix under me
Wow that's interesting. I'm surprised the Klymit pad didn't do a better job for you. I believe somewhere I read the actual MSS instructions and somewhere in there it also stated closed cell matt to attempt to reach temperature claims. So you're absolutely right that would help with temps a lot! I slept in this set up without the patrol bag in low 20's and was quite warm. This just goes to show sleep system reviews can be so different all depending on each individual.
@@mansplaining511 it surprised me Too Faced on everything I read about that bag. I did break a couple of rules though I didn't change before going to bed and I didn't eat before going to bed it started out at 44° and when I woke up freezing it was 25 out
I didn't really buy into the changing before sleeping thing until I did it, and I was astonished at the difference. I think with a couple tweaks you'll be sleeping in this at lower temps way warmer. A nice trick I learned was to throw a couple hand warmers in the bag with you. Really helps if you're getting chilled.
Yes, we can all see that you are obese, no need to mention what is obvious. What is also is obvious is that you need to change your relationship with food. Overeating is not a healthy release for boredom, anxiety or as a past time while driving ect. Give up your bad habits and those so called “age” years will become less noticeable. Your review helps, thanks.
I used this WITHOUT the Patrol Bag in temps of low 20's and only wore socks, undershirt, sweatshirt and fleece PJ pants and was perfectly comfortable. Disclaimer: I am also a warm sleeper. And the clothing you wear to sleep in always makes a difference. I chose this bag because last year my friend took this with him on our trip. He had all 3 pieces temps in the low teens and he slept hot in just underwear!
@@mansplaining511 awesome, thanks for the response! I ended up buying a knockoff MSS. It work fine in 0°F, I am a cold sleeper and wore long johns plus pants, shirt, etc. I ended up ordering a wiggy just yesterday. Rated for -80, I live in zone 3 so I should hopefully be able to test it yet this year.
That's awesome that worked out so well for you! It's awful hard to find affordable gear that can take you all the way down to 0F and beyond! Great plan using long johns and other layers in the bag, really helps keep warm! Hopefully you do get to do a great test of that system this year, would love to hear the results.
@@mansplaining511 I just used the intermediate bag by itself at 24F/-5C and was cold. The next evening it dropped down to 14F/-10C and I used the same bag inside the British Mil intermediate bag and was warm enough but not comfortable. Too narrow, mismatching zipper alignment.. but I was warm and did survive. However, it was uncomfortable enough to look for another system. I just got the Kodiak Canvas sleeping bag and so far... it's awesome! I haven't tried it outdoors yet, but it's a square bag with an innovative top that keeps the heat in. It's also got a dry fabric material interior, so it doesn't have that "slippery" feel to. I'm looking forward to testing it outdoors this weekend, but sleeping in the bag indoors a couple of nights, I really like the cut and roominess.
Water resistance is not water proof bub ? You will get wet you will get cold and it will suck big time !! . there is a fine difference between water resistance and water proof !? Be carful guy
Very good reviews. I think i picking up all of those

I just did a video with the wood stove and all 3 bags. Also going to do one just with the bag to see how low it goes in real world.
I also use the thermarest foam pillow with a blow up pillow , works very well
I find I need the extra lift for my head to be comfortable. And after a long hard day comfort is a welcomed thing!
thanks for the video. always loved the sleep system, to me it was worth the weight
Really works great! On the hunting trip I did remove the patrol bag and it was still plenty warm and cut a little weight!
Amazing sleep system

Good review on the cot, mss, and pad.

@@mansplaining511 yup or a water bottle full of heated water stuffed in a wool sock
Yup! Some good tips I learned with my son in Boy Scouts
I want to see him try and get into it
Snug as a bug in a rug! Which actually isn't a bad thing, less air around me to warm up and keeps heat right against me so I stay warm.

What temp did you use the MSS in?

Pretty much anything that doesn't dissolve when it gets damp is considered "water resistant" these days.
