In my time working in dentistry Ive noticed a correlation between people with awesome jaw structure and bruxism (clenching and grinding) whereas narrow-faced mouth breathers rarely grind but instead often have malocclusion and tongue thrust. This observation is one of many factors that has gotten me interested in your field.

  • @KoiAnunta
    @KoiAnunta 5 лет назад +787

I'm an actual medical doctor (M.D.) and while I find this information fascinating, as a constructive criticism, if you wish for the word to spread more quickly, I would kindly suggest that you make shorter videos with a pre-prepared script that is way more concise and to the point. I think you're just ad libbing and so you lose people in all the lengthy descriptions of the dilemmas without ever showing exercises or resolutions, or at the very least, providing direct links to videos of the exercises. I think most people would have already lost patience and given up; I've gone to your RUclips channel and even I am unable to easily find specific videos by topic--they all seem at first glance as if they're just more long videos with more illustrations of the problem. I've honestly learned more about what "mewing" is from the brief public comments on your RUclips videos than in the videos themselves. So, I would suggest making one well-produced, highly problem-focused summary video, that begins with inspirational photos of children and celebrities to catch the public's attention, then briefly discussing the basics of what orthotropics is and how it can help achieve goals (improve jawline and cheekbones, reduce snoring, etc) and then literally show or demonstrate a few examples of exercises with an anatomical model or fMRI or do the exercises live, and then a link to a website. The whole thing should be less than 5-6 minutes. Pin that video to the top of your channel and then re-organize the rest into much more clear categories. There are other "how to mew" or "how to improve your cheekbones" videos on RUclips from other creators that have basically taken your ideas and made them more palatable for consumers, and those videos have 1+ million views that SHOULD be on your channel, if you could craft similarly formatted, easy-to-understand videos. Hope that helps you, as I'm definitely interested but your channel is truly a mess of largely unhelpful videos to wade through.

This is like allopathy vs integrative medicine. Looking for the root cause of the problem instead of “fixing” (rather supressing) the symptoms. And this is why I believe orthotropics is the integrative approach of finding the root cause and learning proper mechanics, which is a more successful approach.

So basically have good facial posture (tongue on roof of your mouth, lips closed) as well as good head posture (essentially stand tall and straight) and then work your facial muscles so they are genetically as best as they can be. Im not sure if its worth but the jawzersize (or however its spelt) seems to be a good way to do this without chewing tough foods as much.

I find someone attractive if they have a good profile. This is a good video as it explains that " chewing" works the outer "U" and tongue to roof of mouth posture improves the inner "U" of the face giving it symmetry.
I thought I was just "born" with a nice face/profile but looking back after watching this explains alot. As my whole life I kept my tongue rested on the roof of my mouth and breathed through my nose naturally. I remember always chewing gum and I love eating apples (accounts for chewing...I eat at least 3 a day.
I thought it was genetic as my parents have good faces/ jawlines but they have the same habits I do.
Hint: Talk less, listen more...Helps one out in life tremendously
    ...lol...but TRUTE
Ps. Breathing through your nose actually has been studied and increased the IQ as well.

I see many people in the comments saying how their tongue does not sit plush with the roof of their mouth or it is difficult to do that. But as soon as I did that, it aligned perfectly and instantly I felt like my face is more symmetric. I cannot believe how we forgot what should have been out natural state. I am hoping this will make some difference after a while. I might have a slight receding chin (look at my pic). Would be nice if it changes. Also i did not see anybody mention this but oil pulling definitely tones my jaw if I do it consistently.

    1. Assess your current tongue posture to see if you even need help

To simplify and explain Dr Mews Comments
2 parts of face structure to work on
Inner U - muscles in the mid and central part of the face influenced by tongue posture
Outer U - Masseater muscles, lower close to the jaw. (Ie the chewing muscles)
To get a more healthy and attractive face you need to work both the inner and outer U.
    For the inner U.
You need to get good tongue posture.
Get the back of the tongue up.
Say the word sing and the ng sound will activate this position.
Practice tongue chewing, flatten a ball of gum on the roof of the mouth to increase tongue muscles and expand dental arch.
Practice the mckenzie chin tuck, this will help engage and strength the whole tongue while improve overall posture.
This part is more difficult because it’s changing a habit.
    For the outer U
You need to chew to build the masseater muscles.
    Chew hard gum
Use the meal time exercise which is engaging good posture while chewing more than you would normally.
You can use products like chisell which may speed the process.
Be careful with overworking the outer U as it may cause or exaggerate TMJ.
Dr Mew is explaining how Jude Law grew his outer U by clenching but did not grow his inner U.
You need to work on both!
Good luck, feel free to ask any questions.

I suffered from an eating disorder from age 11 to 13 and felt horrendously ugly, yet eventually found a sheer amount of happiness after recovering, not in my appearance, but existentially. I find it intriguing that you make a point of telling me, 'This is not a competition', yet go on a redundant tangent about how 'gorgeous' and 'fine' you are. I NEVER said that I was attractive, and I never said you weren't attractive. I actually complimented your features because they sound wonderful. I started mewing these days and I hope for results.

I couldn't believe it.
I never did that again but I should have got a chin implant because that's what improves your appearance the most most. My social experiment confirmed what I always thought which is most people want to feel better about themselves by associating themselves with more attractive people.

I Started hard mewing February 2023. Now its October 2023. The first thing i noticed was a little pain around the front of my teeth because i guess my lips was putting my teeth back into place. Then the facial bone right under my nose (maxilla) was very tender to the touch from my tongue being on the roof of my mouth as-well as the posterior third.
I found a few of my upper incisors being tender and over a few months, moving and looking much better than before. I no longer get slight pains in the wisdom tooth area since starting. My lips close by themselves now and i don’t need to force them together like before. My eye bags aren’t as noticeable as before but its still going to take time to get more results. I no longer snore like before since beginning. I get enough air through my nose and no longer have fuzziness when trying to remember things as before.
Listen, i know you’ll see a bunch of videos saying you can get a super jawn line in a month or so and i could be true for some people but don’t expect it to be right away. This stuff takes time. Im 27 as of writing this. Also, yes you can see results but not overnight. I forced myself to change because thats what i wanted for my life. If you want it bad enough you will go the distance. Mewing is hard people just make small things like this hard for themselves.

That makes a lot of sense actually, the idea that men tend to develop their lower jaws better than their upper jaws and vice-versa for women. Women tend to be the more vocal gender in the broad sense, both in talking more and in expressing a wider range of pitchs in regular dialogue and so on, so that would develop the tongue and require it to have better posture which would then develop the maxilla.
On the vocal side men have a few advantages in terms of absolute pitch range, which is useful for imitating animal sounds but not for conversation, and in terms of tonal consistency and volume which are issues of control and favour strength over dexterity. Raw volume comes from the diaphragm, but a strong jaw would help to express and maintain a loud, deep note. This is in addition to the chewing and clenching factor as covered in the video.

You need to have good oral posture (Tongue on the roof of your mouth, teeth in or in near contact and lips together) , basically you should be able eventually change position of your upper jaw up and forward (by pressing with your tongue), this will lead your lower jaw up and forward aswell. You should look up more videos on this channel to get a better perception on this subject.
