As a white man I want to say its important for us to speak up too. Black women have beautiful hair in every style. Their hair shouldn't play a role in the workplace (or anywhere else). we don't mandate any other race and the way they wear their hair and black women should be treated equally. I support black women I hope you do too!

Curly or afro textured hair is no more unclean that straight hair. That makes no sense. If you ask all employees to wear a net or be bald that's one thing but to say only one group doesnt have to because their hair is straight is ridiculous.
@@Ready-ForTheEndyeah, even straight hair is not necessarily clean
It's not necessarily that they believe they're wrong. They were probably just afraid of a mob coming after them. If they believe they're wrong then why would they have that opinion? It's not as if they're being forced to have that opinion.
Oh, my comment disappeared. Well I'm going to comment it again. It's not necessarily that they thought what they were saying was wrong. They may have just been afraid of people coming after them for their opinion. Why do you think they would have an opinion they think is wrong? F*ck yeah, brand new WWYD videos make me feel like the luckiest child on Christmas morning! I was happy with the old videos on repeat so this feels like I’m being spoiled!
As always, WWYD had to portray the bad guy as white and never Bl-ck or Br-wn.
I guess that’s what gets clicks nowadays.
Are we watching the same show? @@user-rz8jb9il7z
I got SO emotional watching this - as a black woman who was VERY insecure growing up, I did not embrace my own beautiful natural coils until I was in my late 30s. And I LOVE my hair. Its my crown and part of my identity! To be looked at as if I'm unkept because of how God made me, just hurts to hear.
as you should🥰💗
Yes it does! Something about that word triggers me too. They're so oblivious to the fact that it's the texturist ideals that they hold are the reason why they see natural hair as unkempt.
My natural hair journey started in my 20s and, ironically, from my first theatrical performance in NYC. The freedom I felt as I transitioned to natural was awesome. 15+ years later and I'm still loving it: natural curls, silk presses, twists, twist outs, braids, Bantu knots…I love it all!
Sending hugs your way 🤗🤗
My hair does look unkept if I don’t do something to it. Wish I could wake up with straight hair and just brush it and leave lol I love my curls but they’re A LOT of work! I think most of us girls have felt that way growing up, but it’s a beautiful journey of loving yourself for who you are. ❤
It's hard to make a choice when the employer holds all the cards
Your choice is to do whats best for you. Youre never absent of choice because choices can be good or bad.
There are thousands of employers. Imagine what working there would be like
No it isn't. Know your worth and never settle. It's really that simple
This is so true. Especially in this recession times man. I am struggling so much to find one corporate job. Idk, I feel I would actually end up changing even my gender to get a job at this point. Lmao

I went through something similar being a biracial woman going to a job interview with my natural hair. They just kept asking me if I’m absolutely sure that I will be able to wear a hat, as that was part of the uniform. It made me very uncomfortable. So glad to see people standing up for what’s right in this video!
the baby already knew the interviewer was gonna say some bullshit, look at him starting at 7:59 🤣
I was gonna say that she had the most well-behaved baby I ever saw! And a smart tyke too -- it recognizes a bogus situation & its own mommy crying! ♡♡
He was turned all the way around just staring hard 😂😂
As a Black American woman who has experienced this very type of discrimination it brought me to tears. For people like me that have hair that defies gravity the subject can be quite sensitive. For the people who stand up and use their voices for good I applaud you.
I am in tears and I am not black but I am against discrimination of any kind.
Don’t let them get to you, you are beautiful just the way you are❤ I know it is easier said than done. I can’t believe why people still discriminate against each other. Why can’t we just accept one another without judging how we look😔
As a man going bald, I give anything to have a full set of hair.
Not black but living in Canada, I've heard of similar things from our First Nations population. The main tribe in my area is Objibwe and I've heard from some male Ojibwe coworkers that their long hair was not acceptable... despite all the girl having hair past their shoulders. But when you need the job, they sadly need to compromise by cutting their long hair (which has significant spiritual value according to tribal beliefs).
This even happens on a larger scale. Hockey is a big deal up here and the NHL had a former player of Ojibwe descent named Chris Simon. A tough customer and not afraid of anything. He was pressured to eventually cut off his long hair because when it came to assessing penalties, he was the easiest to spot on the ice since his long hair covered his jersey nameplate. Even when he did nothing wrong, he would be the first one the on-ice officials would point at.
Her hair is beautiful. And I'm sure yours is too.
this reminds me of the recent suspension of a student, darryl george, at an american school because his natural hair violated the dress code. now the court has ruled that the school is allowed to restrict the length of students' natural hair. absolutely infuriating.
I was about to say that. It's just disgusting.
That’s disgusting, why do they feel the need to care so much about other people’s hair anyway? It’s about the grades!
This exact problem was why the Baby Boomers rebelled against their schools having a dress code. Now, I understand that rules are needed for society, but there comes a point when they become excessive and ridiculous.
Just looked this case up and I was like holy fuck. Why is it even a rule that males have to have their hair short in the first place? 100% would put that school on blast.
But he broke the rules already in place and refused to conform to the rules like every other student has to. So the school were right.
The last girl made me cry. We are all human. She just touched my heart with that notion. I wish everyone would know this.
That actress is beautiful.
And of course, the message here is very positive.
As long as your hair is clean and neat, there is no reason she would not be qualified. There is nothing wrong with the job candidates' hairstyle.
Your so right if some interviewer said or asked me that I would rather go get up and leave and go to the next job in line I was surprised that bystanders stepped in way to go
The clean part is the problem, unfortunately. Racists have a tendency to see a non-white person's hair and automatically assume it's unclean, especially in curls or braids.
it should be common sense. black women have fought to wear their natural hair for years. there was a point where they were forced to cover up their hair because it made white women jealous that white men would stare at them
How do u describe clean and neat? She can’t help that that’s her hair
@@bhavanijayant526I think the actress hair looks clean and neat
Last girl made me cry as well. We need more people like her in the world.
Oh definately made me cry. The outpouring of feeling from her is real. We sometimes can't believe the kind of treatment people get. WE gotta stop looking for people to conform to what's "professional". If their hair is clean and neat, like that beautiful woman, then that's all that should be required. It's 2024 for God's sakes!!
I’m a Caucasian woman with curly hair and I remember my boss telling me one day when I straightened my hair he said “I like your hair like that better. It looks less like you got electrocuted”
Also I was nicknamed “nappy” in high school.
I'm often left in tears watching this show, the humanity is so heartwarming. Glad to see that most of the people out there are caring towards other human beings and courageous to stand up for what is right.
I’ve had two bosses call my hair messy and lazy. One of them even held a meeting with my other two coworkers about how “frizzy” hair is not acceptable and how if you’re going to wear your hair in a bun your hair should be gelled back and straightened. I was the only one who ever wore my hair up and curly. And also my brother was told by a Mormon bishop that he had to cut his dreads because they were distracting to the congregation. People are racist and ignorant everywhere.
That’s unacceptable for racists to say that. Segregation is over for Pete’s sake!
I'm so sorry that happened to you!! Please keep rocking your crown!!
That's all in your mind that racists are everywhere. What would you do gave a bad example using this lady because there's nothing wrong with her hair and most employers would be completely fine with it. If you show up with an unkept afro or I as a white guy show up with long unkept hair they have every right to tell you to do something with it. Has nothing to do with racism or discrimination.
@@easygoingguy Spot on mate.Dont listen to the race card warriors
@@easygoingguy I do see your point, but sometimes it is racism. We can show up with neat well kept hair, and we are still discriminated against. I know it has gotten a lot better, but it still exist in some situations. And yes, I know that everything isn’t racism, but this is our experience, and it is very real.

@@edithdlp8045Yea that’s usually the case; kids are usually allowed to wear the hair the way they want to. Sometimes though, dress code includes certain hairstyles
It does, at least in the U.S. There's currently a court case about this now involving a Black teenager being put on in-school suspension based on him not cutting his locs. The case is in Texas, which passed the CROWN Act right before the 2023/2024 school year started.

First of all, Who would do interviews in crowded restaurants?
What's "second of all"? When I went on some interviews, they covered 10am to 4pm, and one or more interviewers took me to lunch too -- the "interview" continued thru lunch. It's possible busy H.R. types might squeeze-in a candidate over a lunch too. But not normally -- a restaurant is not very private, is it? ♡
Restaurants do a lot of times
Unfortunately my husband has had interviews where they said he would have to cut hair he has dreads that he been growing out for 13 years now

Ok first of all her hair looks glamorous and I’m Christian so I always wore skirts and dresses to work until today I never had any issues. racism and white beauty standards
It's our prerogative to wear our hair as we choose. Why is that your concern???
@@miskittt she's saying it in a positive way I think
I agree with you. Some people wear wigs due to hair damage from years of straightening and chemical processing. Others wear wigs due to personal choice. I believe everyone just should judge each other
I'm Mexican- American ,so I don't know much about black women's hair but I have a friend that is and I have also read they take really good care of their hair and are proud of it , which they should be. Telling her to change her hair is like telling her to deny her heritage ! She looks very sophisticated with her hair, women of color have so many styles to wear their hair and they look amazing. Hair as long as it is clean and not some crazy distracted way is a personal choice and should not be asked to change , yes in the food industry, warehouses and jobs like the hair can sometimes be a hazard and should be pulled back or netted but other than that it's not morally or ethically right to ask for a change.

"Interviewer" saying the girl needs a professional appearance but conducting the interview in a bar/restaurant?! A lot of people would realise this is fake i think.
I wished the Black couple at the beginning would of encouraged her to find something else and that she could do better rather than just to tolerate the bullshit for a job although they knew the racist discrimination was wrong they still kind of suggested to compromise herself. wrong message.
I totally agree with you. However, my guess is that they probably figured that she could have been in a situation where she needed a job so badly after perhaps hundreds of applications submitted and various interviews. Lots of people are living paycheck to paycheck these days and are being laid off suddenly. Perhaps she could have just taken the job temporarily while continuing to look for something else. It’s oftentimes a hard position to choose between survival and dignity😢
This is the exact unfortunate reality though. That's exactly why they made this skit. Many Black ppl feel Obligated to Change their physical appearance for school and work or you may be fired or removed from the program.
