    I need to do something to a driveway - I'm very nearly sold on this. For what it's worth I wish you would have covered the plexiglass during that part of the demo and uncovered it after the product was installed to show how it looked. Being able to see through the plexiglass let you fill in every void and made the end result look amazing. The thing is, people can't see under slabs. The point was to give me a sense of how it looks under a slab, but I think I didn't get that. If I'm worried about anything, it's that my unpracticed technique might not be good enough to 1) locate every void 2) get product to 100% of voids I do find.

      Hello, good comment. Take any extra time you can afford to dig out along the side or front of the driveway. The more access you have to the voids, the belter you are. There is a concern that some voids made not get filled. You can best address that issue by leaving the tip of the nozzle under the area of concern for any extra length of time. Remember, the foam will always seek out the path of least resistance. You really don't have a concern for over filling the underside of the driveway, because the weight of the driveway is greater than any flow resistance under the driveway. Work slowly and the foam will do the rest. Expansion is at least 2.5 times the volume you inject into a certain area. You may not find every void, but getting the foam under say 80% of the current voids will give you much needed support. This product will support 10,080 lbs. per sq. ft. (We have increased the load bearing capacity of the product since we videoed our "Driveway" presentation.) Have a great project. Thank you!

    I have a concrete pad that is located next to the side of the garage. it is 10 feet long 4 feet wide and 3 inches high and sits on the ground. It provides access to the side door of the garage and it has the external A/C equipment sitting on it.

    The problem is, some type of animal has removed a lot of the dirt and there is a void under the pad that I would like to have filled before the pad cracks or breaks.

    At this time there doesn’t seem to be a problem, and it doesn’t have to be leveled or lifted. I just want the void under the pad to be filled to make sure it doesn’t become a problem.
    There is a slight opening at two locations that I can insert a pole into the void, but I can't see into the void. How do I use the product to fill the void without raising the pad?
    Thanks for all your videos and advice,
    Wes Rahn

      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  4 года назад +2

      Hello, It is good you have access to the void from the side. Since you have a slight opening, you can insert a tube extension to where you want the foam to go. If the end of the tube is over the top of the void, the foam will drop into the void and then start expanding. If you access the void from the side, the foam will fill the void as well. The expansion of the foam will not lift the concrete as long as there is a pathway out from under the concrete pad. The expanding foam will flow out of the slight opening you use to access the void. Expanding foam will always follow the path of least resistance, so since the weight of the concrete will be greater than the resistance from the dirt around your slight access area, you will be able to determine when the void is filled when the foam exits your access port. Watch this video, ruclips.net/video/uXK6lSytlKw/видео.html from minute 4:45 to minute 4:59 this should be what happens to the foam when you finish filling your void. Thank you.

      Thank you for the question. Yes, this is a great product for filling voids, as long as you can mix/pour it right away into the voids. If this area is on a slope, then you can trough it into the voids. Some customers use a pvc pipe cut in half and use car wax on it so the mix with quickly slide into the voids space and not stick to the pvc. You would not want to overfill the voids and always have an escape route for the expanding foam so it doesn't lift or break your slab. It will expand 18:1 under normal temperatures for the foam. Also, 1 gallon of mixed Secure Set (1/2 gal. Part A & 1/2 gal. Part B) will generally make about 2.4 cu. ft. of foam. Another option would be our Secure Set Spray Foam. We have a 10 cu. ft. kit and a 16.6 cu. ft. kit available. You can call 405-672-8885 to order any of these products, or go to www.secureset.net to purchase all but the 16.6 cu. ft. kit (call us for that one, at this time.)

      You would be surprised how many people actually call for pointers that say they have voids that are extremely similar to this one. The main difference being that it has soil at both ends of the slab, but mostly washed out through the center. Or they have voids under their house that a plumbing issues have created, and once it was repaired they need to fill the voids and this is a great visual for how they can use the spray foam with an extension. It also helps people to understand how the foams expands and moves during the application process.

    What is the difference in the finished product when using the LOW GWP propellant?? There must be a difference of some sort!...?

      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  2 года назад

      Hello Kenneth, Slowly but surely, the Fed Government is requiring all states to comply with the transition from HFC to HFO gas propellant in all pressurized containers. There is no effect on the physical condition or the technical numbers/characteristics of the set foam. The difference is in the amount of VOC's that are created when the product transitions from a liquid to a sold product. Compression strength, expansion and product density are the same for both products, the Low GWP (Global Warming Potential) gas propellant variant will be the standard in about 18 to 24 months across the USA. Thank you.

    will it work in a void with water in it. I changed a sump pump basin today only to notice that there is a large void on one side of it. the slab is in a crawlspace. The void is at the corner of the home. next to the sump pit and extends to the footer. I'd say its about 2 x 4 feet and about a foot deep. the void has water in it due to a high water table. I can empty it but it'll fill halfway with water within a few minutes the rest of the void stays empty. will this product work to fill the void with some water in it? I'd like to avoid busting up concrete if possible. Thanks

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the question. No, it will not work when applied into an area with standing water, or where the ground is too wet. During the exothermic process of expansion it will suck the water into the foam and make a junk foam, which is not supportive. The drier the better for the best results. With your particular issue, you could vacuum out the standing water and before it has a chance to start refilling you could quickly spray a 1" layer of foam to attempt to plug off the area. It will start to harden within 2-1/2 to 3 minutes, so hopefully that will plug the area with a layer of non-supportive foam (because of the wet soil), but then you could layer on top of that area with a hard foam if you were able to stop the seepage of water. Once you get foam that has not been affected by the water it should be the hard foam. Contact us for other ideas, such as using our liquid mix/pour high density foam to help plug the area then use the spray foam to top off the other areas. Also, we have another kit available that makes more foam (16.6 cu. ft.), just a less dense foam. It will support 5,040 lbs. per sq. ft. vs. this 10 cu. ft. kit that supports 10,080 lbs. per sq. ft. I have a concrete patio that is raised up off the ground with many footings and dirt. Edges are “closed in” with boulders. One side butts up to kitchen bump out. Ground hogs have burrowed under the entire patio and have removed a lot of dirt. There are at least 3 entrances. Hoping to use this product to fill the tunnels. 2 entrances are up against the house under the bumpout so will be very hard to see and very hard to get a pipe in there because the pipe would need to flex 90 degrees to get under the patio. The third entrance is on the opposite end so much easier to get at but assuming the tunnels aren’t straight the pipe won’t get all the way under the slab to fill all the tunnels. Help. I can’t afford to tear out the patio or replace it. Would appreciate any advice. Is there a way to attach a stiff but flexible hose? So I could force it into the more accessible tunnel and it would bend to follow the tunnels? I was hoping I could just put it at the entrance then block the entrance so the foam could force its way through all the tunnels but sounds like it can’t do that? And pls advise on how to stop the foam from hardening inside the applicator pipe? Thx so much! 14:13
    Oh and patio is approximately 13x13

      Thank you for your questions. We have not tried this type of application with using a flexible pex pipe or black rubber hose, but we have spoken with numerous customers that have done so. Sometimes customers tell us that they have issues when using extensions because they will dry up quickly if the foam is not constantly moving through the pipe, even more quickly than with just the mixer nozzles. This can easily happen with the mixture of dirt and foam at the extension pipe opening. Also heat and humidity can cause them to dry quickly. We would start with a small amount of cellophane tape over the opening and once you have the pipe in place then when you spray the foam it will blow off the tape. That will at least keep the dirt out of the pipe before you start applying the foam, then just keep spraying and moving the pipe toward you/the opening. If the foam dries in the extension pipe (or even in the nozzles) if will back up to the gun and can make a mess spraying out between the gun and nozzle, as well as can back into the gun the next time you try to spray and will ruin the gun/hose kit. If you want to call us at 405-672-8885 M-F 8:30 to 4:30 CST, we will try to give you some additional suggestions for this project.

      Hello, The product in the containers prior to it being used will last up to 18 months. Once you open the valves and use the product, the limiting factor is the time the product is in the hoses. The hoses will stay useable for about 30 to 45 days, after that the product will gum, up and they will be unusable. However, once you use the product and close the vales on top of the tanks, the unused product in the tank does not go bad. If you have this situation, where the tanks have been used but over time the hoses have gummed up, you can purchase a replace hose set to use the remaining product in the tanks. Thank you

      It is expected to last 40 plus years since nothing effects the hardened foam. Even when left exposed above ground the UV rays just changes it to a darker color. It has no nutritional value; therefore, nothing is known to eat it.
      It works great in places like Miami, we have many customers in FL since you have a lot of issues with wash outs of the sandy soil. We even have a lot of customers and contractors in FL that use the spray foam for supporting swimming pool steps that wash out or settle. Hello Aa, Filling an existing void, if you have access to it, it very doable. The only issue about the foam lifting the concrete is if the expanding foam is trapped under the concrete with no possible outlet. if you have access to the void from the side of the driveway, the injected foam will fill the void and expand to the point of least resistance. Saw you said to fill any drilled holes with a dowel. Would filling with caulking also work?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  4 года назад +3

      Hello, Yes, caulking would work. A thick silicone or concrete patch will work. The spray foam kit was developed primarily to fill voids that are known to exist under concrete. With the long extension tubes you can reach quite a ways under a concrete slab if you have access to an opening. This past week we worked on a project that required a 22 foot extension to reach all the way back to some large voids under a sidewalk. The kit is not designed to be used as a means to lift concrete. Most often, if the slab has dropped several inches, we will dig out along the side of the slab, place a small hydraulic jack under the slab, (or several jacks if the sunken area is big), and then jack up the slab to a desired height and fill the void under the slab. Thank you.

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  3 года назад

      Hello Cynthia, The issue is the load bearing capacity of the soil. Most soils in the USA have a compression strength of 28 psi. That means it will support approximately 4,032 lbs. per square foot. We actually have two different densities of Spray Foam. One is has a 35 psi compression strength and the other is 70 psi. The first will support 5,040 lbs. per sq. ft., and the latter will support 8,080 lbs. per sq. ft. The other advantage is that both types are closed cell foams which means neither air not water can penetrate or pass through the foam. This means that once you place the foam under or by something, water will not erode or wash out the foam. This product is used extensively in the electric utility industry to support and stabilize large concrete pads that are used to support very large electric transformers. Thank you.

That equates to 33.33 cubic feet . (57,000/1728=33.33) What I would do is purchase just 2 kits at first, some of the voids may not be 2" high, you never know. You can always purchase a third kit if you need to have more foam to complete the job. Hello Michael, As long as there is an escape point for the foam, the expanding foam will always move to the point of least resistance. The concrete will not lift or give way to the foam UNLESS it is completely trapped and it has no where to expand except upward. Even then, the foam will compress itself first in order to equal the downward pressure of the concrete. Once that pressure is equalized and then exceeded, then the expanding foam will force the concrete upward. I hope this helps. Thank you.

      Hello Polly.
      This is a 1/2" OD and 3/8" ID CPVC pipe. At our local Home Depot they come in 5' and 10' lengths for less than $4. Tape in on really good with black electrical tape. If you are going to need even longer lengths, we have put 2 @ 10' together with a coupling and it still worked great, then moved down to a shorter length that we had ready to go for a quick switch out. It works great! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Considering using this to fill the void under my concrete front porch. Couple of questions. First, the CPVC you had attached...does the kit have an attachment for that to work? Also, as far as making the fill look better, could you scrape it off before it dried so that's even with the slab, or would that interfere with the expansion?

      Hello, this product will work very well and support your front porch. The CPVC tubing fits over the tip of the nozzles. Here is video showing you the attachment procedure. ruclips.net/video/1lO7M6Tlkwo/видео.html Once the fill has hardened, if there is any foam outside the edge of your concrete, you can use any type of saw to cut off the excess. Once you have done that, you can spray paint the foam to match the concrete. I like flat gray primer paint, looks very close to concrete. Thank you

      Hello, The canisters will produce 10 cubic feet of high density foam. There is no nutritional value in the foam, is not a good food source for termites or rodents. Thank you.

      No nutritional value for either rodents or termites, have not heard of a single incident where the pests returned. Coverage is 10 cubic feet or 17,280 cubic inches

      rodents don't just chew on stuff they can eat or for nesting. they have to chew or their teeth grow through the roof of mouth. i have witnessed them chew through foam in other uses. even tunnel through pest blocker foam.

      @@MyNeowolf Seems to me you could put hardware cloth near the outside edges of the foam (cut it to shape before starting, so that you don't have to stop the foam very long to put it in place) to reduce that probability, and then cover it up with more foam so it isn't visible.

      Thank you for your interest in Secure Set Spray Foam. We do not ship outside the continental U.S. since these are pressurized canisters and the hazardous shipping regulations.
