    I have sure fixed a ton of pools, especially snapped plumbing due to pouring concrete on fill dirt. First the builder has loads of dirt to get rid of and gravel is expensive so they just backfill with dirt. Two they wanna get done and get paid so they dismiss the issue. Compacting dirt only works if you compact it every few inches as you fill. I suggest gravel but if you must use dirt let it get rained on or run a sprinkler for at least a couple weeks before you pour your deck. The plastic type steps are very prone to issues. Expecting them to support the water weight without support under them only lasts a few years.

      Hello Mike, Very good points. That is why the high density closed cell foam works so well. It doses not shrink or change shape once it has expanded and set. Also it will not absorb water or allow air to flow through it. It is a great alternative to native soil. Thank you

    I have 2 questions. 1) I have seen foam used to lift concrete slabs in other videos. In this video I did not see any lifting. I noticed he had a jack lifting the slab before spraying. I have a void under the slab and do NOT want to lift it anymore as it is level. I leveled it with a jack like in the video already. Is different foam used to lift or does it lift if there is no exit like this floating slab? 2) Is the fence post shake and pour foam you offer the same as this video just in a non pressurized smaller amount?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  3 года назад +11

      Hello, The fence post foam has a higher density and a higher compression strength. The Secure Set Spray Foam is a much better option for what you are doing. Expanding foam will not lift a concrete slab as long as you have an escape or pathway for the foam. Expanding foam will always flow to the point of least resistance, and an opening under the slab will provide that pathway. If you use a jack to lift the concrete slab, you can spray the foam under the slab, wait a few minutes for it to set, then remove the jack. Thank you

    I'm receiving 2 kits this week. I'm filling a void under a sidewalk slab. Question: When I'm getting to end edge of the concrete and am spraying finishing layers to the foam like this sidewalk project, how long will the foam expand, and how much further expansion will take place when I stop spraying. How do you know and judge how much more product to spray so you a pretty good finished edge.>

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  3 года назад +2

      Hello Lee, At the edge, stop spraying about 6 inches from the edge. Let the foam expand, then a little at a time to finish the application. If the foam over expands past the edge, let it harden, then shave it off with any serrated edge saw. Thank you.

    I have a hard reach space below the slab. What size is the PVC tube you used to extend the nozzle?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  Год назад +3

      Thank you for your question. We talk about the use of the extensions on some of the other prior videos, but should have also noted what we used on this one. Use 1/2" CPVC pipe from Home Depot or Lowe's. It is Charlotte Pipe, sold in 10 ft. lengths and we cut it to the lengths we need. Cut back the mixer nozzles about 1/2", wrap some black electrical tape under the fins on the nozzle and push into the pipe to secure it. Then use fiber reinforced strapping/packing tape to tape the nozzle to the pipe extremely well to keep it from blowing off (don't trust other types of tape, it just won't hold).
      In this video you will also see some 14" cardboard extensions, which we used to be able to supply, but can no longer get them. They are the cardboard tube found on dry cleaner pant hangers, in case you have some in the closet. If so, just cut off the crimped ends and they make a great shorter extension. By the way, our mixer nozzles will shoot out about 4 ft. without an extension.
      Thanks again, GRA Services the makers of Secure Set.

    While the foam looks good, with that much gapping why wouldn't you use rock and cement and foam to fill in those smaller gaps? How long does the foam last?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation

      You could put some rocks or gravel in the voids to help fill the space and then apply the foam to lock it all in place. Nothing really affects the foam but the project life is stated as 40 plus years. Thank you for the questions. GRA Services

    Great video. I have to install an ADA compliant pool lift for my wife so she can safely enter the pool (she has M.S). The problem for me is the pool deck is only three inches thick and the anchor kit requires a minimum of six inches thick concrete of at least 2500 psi. It looks like this product may be the solution to my project. (No concrete specialists I contacted have gotten back to me - probably too small of a project). I just need to fill in a ~3 x 4 foot void that's basically four inches deep under the three inch concrete slab; I calculated the cubic feet on your web site to be about ~ 4 cubic feet. I'll dig it out (easy with the sandy soil here in Florida) and fill it in. Does this seem like reasonable and SAFE solution? Thanks!

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  3 месяца назад

      Thank you for your question. The Secure Set Spray Foam would be a great back fill solution for the void space, since it is very strong from a compressive strength standpoint. But, it is not concrete, so it won't work for the anchoring kit for your pool lift. GRA Services - Secure Set

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation

      After the foam is cured it is a closed cell foam, which will not absorb moisture. Just do not apply in an area with standing water or when the soil is too wet, since it will suck that moisture into the expanding foam and make a junk foam. Thank you,

      Hello, There is absolutely no comparison between "Great Stuff" and Secure Set high density foam. Great Stuff is an extremely light density open cell foam used for small applications for insulation. Secure Set is closed cell high density foam with a compression strength of 103 psi. I have a fiberglass pool that has had a leak and soil run off under the pool and decking. The surrounding deck is concrete and flagstone. I can’t really dig to get under like in the video. That being said can I drill the holes and insert the foam without cracking the pool? Will the foam also lift the deck that has slightly sunk or will I need to resurface and try to raise the deck by adding concrete to the top?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  3 года назад +2

      Hello Garland, The leak under the pool I am going to assume has been fixed. That being said, you can drill the holes and fill the voids. Guessing at the size of the voids is a risk, if you can get a good estimate of their size, you can time the foam to fill specific volumes. You can lift the deck once the voids are filled, an easy go method is best advised. The slab won't just pop up unexpectantly, so slow but methodical small quantity injections work best. The major issue I see is that you don't have a good picture or assessment of the condition that exists under your deck. Hammer sounding and drilling the holes will help fill in the information gap. Once you drill the holes, (use a 3/8" concrete bit) probe them to determine the depth of the voids under the slab. This will help you determine the size of the voids. I hope this helps. Thank you.

      Hello, We should be getting stock in during the 1st week of August. Raw material shortages and every other reason people are giving as to why supply is so messed up. But it is what it is. As far as the spray foam cans, that will end up being a huge waste of money and time. Single component spray foam is an open cell foam product. It has very little compression strength. You can stick your index finger right through it. It will fill the space, but it will also become water logged because it is an open cell foam. It is better to wait, or redo the concrete versus using the can foam. Thank you.

      Hello Gary, The original fill all washed out once, it will do it again if you don't do something different. The foam does not allow water to move through it, and it will not absorb moistures. It also has a tremendous adhesive quality that allows the foam to "Stick" to whatever it touches. Price for the foam project, about $1,100.00, price for the estimate from the contractor was a minimum of $6,000.00 Much better "cash" math and better longer term repair benefit. Thank you.
