    This video focuses on two technical questions for using Secure Set Spray Foam: (1)How far can we push the high-density spray foam through a piece of CPVC pipe to fill difficult-to-reach voids and (2) how long will Secure Set Spray Foam take to come out the other end? To answer these questions, we test the foam spray with 50 feet of CPVC pipe and time how long it takes for the spray foam to emerge from the other end of the length of pipe. We provide some some safety tips and best practices for using Secure Set Spray Foam to fill deep, difficult-to-reach voids such as you might find in sidewalk, driveway, pool deck, pool and other washout situations. Also, as a bonus, the latter half of the video is an instructional segment on how to cut back the nozzles and securely fasten them to a 1/2" OD - 3/8" ID CPVC tube so they will not come loose during a project.

    I just read the intro section which recommends 1/2" PVC with a 3/8" ID. Thanks. I answered the question.

      Thank you for the question. We call it 3/8" ID in the video, but Lowe's and Home Depot say it is 1/2" ID. It is made by Charlotte Pipe and says 1/2" on the side of the pipe. It is sold in the irrigation system section of the store. Use some tape on the mixer nozzle and insert into the pipe, then use fiber reinforced strapping/packing tape (it has the fiberglass strings running through the tape) to adhere the mixer to the pipe. We have tried many types of tapes, but this is the only one we found to keep it from blowing the pipe off the mixer nozzle. Watch this RUclips video to see how we prep the nozzles/extensions www.secureset.net/aiovg_videos/secure-set-spray-foam-using-application-tips-to-reach-deep-voids/ . At 5:52 we show the prep work. Make sure to cut the mixer nozzle tips back to allow for a larger conical opening. Thanks again!

    Once you pull the trigger to allow the product down the CPVC tube I assume you have to keep the product flowing, and once you let off the trigger the product in the tube sets up?
    If that is true how much time can you leave off on the trigger if you have to reposition your CPVC tube before the product sets up?
    Thanks in advance.

      Hello Mark, Good question! Once you pull the trigger and the product is flowing through the extension tube, depending on the outside temperature, you have approximately 25 to 30 seconds before you have to start flowing more material. The hotter the outside temperature, the shorter the time you have to reposition. With ambient temperature above 95° F you have about 25 seconds before it sets. If you have the ability to trigger a small amount, every 15 seconds, you can extend the "overall" reposition time almost indefinitely. Thank you.

      @@SecureSet-Fence-Installation Okay, perfect, that brings up one last question, can it be too cold outside to apply this product? We are going into September weather and it is around 55 degrees in North Idaho. I can always wait for a warm day.

      Hello Mark, If you keep the canisters inside and make sure they are at about 80° F, when you work on your project you will have a robust spray and the foam will expand nicely. The only issue about application and expansion is if you allow the canisters to get cold. If the canisters were at 55° F, you would have a slower spray foam and the expansion would not be as fast or as much. Thank you

    Could you use 1/2" PEX as an alternative?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  3 года назад +1

      Hello Dustin, We have customers that have successfully used Pex Pipe 1/2" The ID of the Pex pipe is larger than the 1/2" OD CPVC, so you would have to wrap the spray nozzle with a few more turns of the strapping tape in order to make a good connection with the tubing. Also PEX Pipe is flexible so you have to take that into consideration as a choice between using PEX Pipe v/s rigid CPVC pipe. Thank you

    Any chance you'll come out with a Spray Foam kit about half these size of this one? I've got 3 sections of walkway with a void under it ranging from nothing at one end and 6 or 7 at the other and I wouldn't a kit the size of this one.

      Hello John, At this time we are trying to keep up with requests we have for the current size package. We knew there were a lot of damaged concrete areas around the country, but the request for product has been more than expected. Of course we are pleased, but at the same time we will, for now at least, have to concentrate on suppling current purchases. Perhaps this winter, when we know demand will slow down, we can examine the possibilities with different size kits. Thank you.

    What size cpvc?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  4 года назад

      The CPVC needs to be 1/2" OD and 3/8" ID. Make sure to tape it on to the nozzle exceptionally well with the fiber reinforced tape to keep it from blowing off.
      Thanks again for you questions.

      @@SecureSet-Fence-Installation Hello, I look at Lowe's and Home Depots Websites and they spec their 1/2" CPVC inside diameter as 1/2" nominal. Will that work?

    • @SecureSet-Fence-Installation
      @SecureSet-Fence-Installation  3 года назад +1

      Hello Tony, Yes, the CPVC is primarily for irrigation, the 1/2" OD / 3/8th" ID is just right. If they call it nominal, it will be OK. Thank you
