- Someone stole a Canyons School District bus early Thursday morning and led police on a high-speed chase from Interstate 15 and 9000 South in Sandy to Salt Lake City. The bus struck two vehicles, including a police car. Officers ended the chase when the bus began to run red lights in heavily populated areas. The bus was found a short time later, but the driver was nowhere to be found.

Good for the cop. So many get jacked on adrenaline that they keep going and the chase ends up killing people. Kudos.
It would be hilarious if when the bus guy did break checks he would put out the stop sign with the flashing lights. If he figured out how.
I think you have to actually like park for the stop sign to go out. But I could be wrong 😂

Wow, easy win for the perp. Not even a faint attempt at safely following at a distance? The guy probably still sped through red lights, so what if he t-boned someone. Cop should have at least actively followed with light and siren turned off from 1 or 2 blocks down.

No one knows how to drive properly here in America. In fact where I live, no one treats red lights during a blackout as four way stops. Don't count on people obeying the rules of the road.

i really like the professional and cam nature of the pursuit driver, it is 100% focus on the prime objectives of not causing harm to inocent members of the public, this should be used as a training vidoe

I can't believe he terminated the pursuit and stopped. That jackass got away free handed. I would have terminated lights and sirens and get a air unit.

These buses are big, and lumbering, but they can do some serious damage to traffic jams and road blocks. Also, with them having their engines in the back, shooting their radiators is virtually impossible.

Northbound I-15 in South Salt Lake South of 3300 South traveling onto collector route, then Westbound I-80 exiting at Redwood Rd. 2 different jurisdictions. Probably UHP. As they approach the light at North Temple Street you can hear the radio with a call terminating pursuit. There happened to be a gas station on the SE corner of the intersection.

but he didn't actually stop to get gas, he stopped because the bus ran the light and it was getting too dangerous.

Say what? I wasn't attacking anyone, especially cops. I'm saying our society is going soft on a lot of issues. Also, officers know their jobs are dangerous and should be well aware of it before actually applying. I'm going into law enforcement myself and I am all too happy to put my life on the line for those few citizens who give a damn about what LE and other public service officials do. I have put my life on the line to save someone who was quite grateful and I'd do it again.

The can’t go out of their limits. So the other police departments go in and take over. And they have others waiting for the person so don’t blame the cop. He has to do what they tell him to do.

I want you to do something for me. Search "RIP Trooper Adam Bowen" on RUclips. He was killed when he went through an intersection like this. His car, and his body, were both split completely in half. Maybe you think a cop's life doesn't matter and doesn't have the same value as someone else, but I don't think you've ever had to put your life on the line like that. If that doesn't change your mind, talk to the woman he was set to marry a week later. Then come back here and try hating on cops.

One of the Officer's main duty is maintain the peace. Good call calling off the pursuit. Potentially saved a lot of lives.

because with a multi lane highway, you don't have to as long as there are two lanes between you and the cop, for situations like this where the cop is only going 20 mph

Furthermore, I was simply pointing out that people think they're taking the safe road by letting something slide (even armed robbery etc) when they're not. Because by not stopping serious offenders when the chance is given, they're not only allowing it to happen again, they're saying if you do it a certain way you will likely get away with it. This is a terrible message to send. There are safer ways to cross intersections which are increasingly employed by agencies around the nation.
The cop had NO CHOICE. This is an example of police agencies having lousy chase policies. I'll bet his dep't. has a strict policy about reasons chases must be stopped. Like if the suspect does anything dangerous. The dep't is probably scared about lawsuits and tied the officers hands instead of growing a pair and saying "You know what, our job can sometimes be dangerous but we have certain things we must do to keep the peace." The suspect's know about these policies and exploit them.

Well I have one of those retired crown vic's and let me tell you when you hammer the gas even to do a 60-90 pull just to hear the sweet 4.6 sound a couple of times on an open country road they guzzle gas like crazy when you floor the gas pedal I burned a quarter tank after flooring it a couple of times.
