    Thank you so much for spending your time and money to cover this for us. 6 months is very generous. That said, the use cases are what we needed most - who cares if you can rearrange icons if there's nothing useful to do with them? Most reviewers get lost in irrelevant details and fail the big picture.

    just started watching the video, but as a fellow Apple vision pro owner i wanted to leave a comment with my experience. I don't feel like i wasted my money because I knew I was buying into a niche early adopter product just so i could experience the new tech. That being said unless you have a use case for it, its worth just waiting for the next generation.
    My use case has been as my everything screen, I use it when I want to watch youtube on a bigger screen, when I am editing, and most of all as my defacto work monitor because I find being in the headset focuses me, and helps reign in my ADHD.

    Just finished watching from my AVP and couldn't agree more! Comfort was my biggest problem until I picked up the Globular Cluster Halo strap. It's the best halo strap mounting design I've seen so far because it mounts as close to the body as possible reducing strain on the arms. Plus it leaves the strap attachment points free to pair it with the solo or dual loop bands. I use mine with the dual loop and it completely removes the weight of the device from my cheeks.

As Tim Cook said, it's for people who want tomorrow's technology at home today. It is amazing how perfect and magical it works. Regarding comfort, I highly recommend getting one of these extra headstraps (e.g., Annapro) and removing the light seal if you don't need full immersion. The field of view seems larger and nothing touches my face. The AVP basically hovers in front of my face and for many uses, it is the perfect fit for me.

    Nice review Cas. I was happy to hear that you liked it.
    I picked one up used and we love it, but like you say, there are limited apps for it right now. I do stream Steam from a PC and that works pretty well for most, but not all games. The really great change was the recent addition of the super wide view. My wife works at home, and while it's only been a few days, she is loving working in VR, and can view local Mac and network PC screens all side by side. It really helps her. This may end up being the most important feature for us.

Yeah, I know you'll draw in all the kiddos who will talk about how the $300 headset blows it away, but I'd really like to hear your thoughts on using both in non-gaming, how the updates from Meta have come along, how it is to use for productivity vs the AVP, etc.

    • @LucaColonnello
      @LucaColonnello 11 дней назад

      @@rodmunch69 it’s pointless. People can’t get their head around VR headsets being used for more than gaming, so when comparing a device that doesn’t do gaming with one that mostly is for gaming, the comparison would be wasted. Plus, without first hand experience, is like looking a comparison between LCD and OLED TVs through a phone that has LCD too. You’re not going to get why OLED is better, you’d focus on the price. That’s what people do with AVP, forget that is 4k oled hdr, that has 23 mln pixels, they go “Quest can do that too”, cause most people haven’t tried an AVP in real life (just like many haven’t seen 4k oled quality tvs).

    • @japahad88
      @japahad88 День назад +1

      I recently acquired both the Quest 3 and the AVP, and so far I love them both for different reasons. I feel you can customize and do much on the Quest 3. But after using the AVP, the lower resolution and contrast are definitely noticeable and (for me) hinder productivity. The AVP obviously shines within the Apple ecosystem, but lacks apps and customization options. I'm not counting of it, but I hope little by little VisionOS will improve just like HorizonOS has. And if Apple comes up with a non-pro\cheaper version that more people can afford, more apps will also definitely pop up. For now it is what it is.

    Hey girl. I got the Apple Vision Pro with the highest hard drive space and the highest Mac book pro so instead of it be around 7500 I payed around 8300. I use my Apple Vision Pro to watch crunchyroll and Disney+ while on I the tread mill and to entertain myself at the gym. Beforehand I’d bring a try pod with an iPad on it. I plan to develop an app for the Apple Vision Pro so I was paying 200 a month for a unity pro subscription to use their Apple Vision Pro sdk. I think this is a big opportunity because the App Store is new so there is possibility to make money off selling apps in a non oversaturated market. In a world where every app market is over saturated finding a non oversaturated market to work from is ideal to say the least. You use yours for Mac book streaming a lot. I heard in the 1.1 update they improved it because originally it was hard to see for me but I’ll have to check it out again. Great video. You mentioned the battery life problem but can’t you just daisy chain more Apple batteries to the system? I was planning on just buying another Apple battery to daisy chain but do you have a third party battery suggestion? You mentioned that you were using one but not which one. Awesome analyst, great video.

    • @jeremy-dore
      @jeremy-dore 9 дней назад

      You don't need another Apple battery pack and they don't daisy chain anyway. I personally use the Anker 737 power bank (PowerCore 24K) which is perfect and holds a lot of charge (several hours more) daisy chained into the Apple Battery.

Spending $4000 for that is no big deal for me as I have done is several times in my life.

    I’ve Loved mine as a favorite piece of tech for about just as long. Still blown away at the experience. I do also notice the heat and have an air purifier/fan that I have pointed in my direction to keep the heat off me, and the little subtleties of wearing do make a big difference on comfort, and sometimes I have it better than others. It’s an everyday device for me, but I do have to consider what Im doing later when considering when to use it, and what I can do to mitigate the mess it makes with my hair and face marks 🤪 Fortunately a hat works great for covering up both the hair and forehead marks. I really love periodically being able to change my workstation to a stand up one, with all my screens around me when I don’t need to type full paragraphs and can get by with just the headset without my MacBook. Copy and pasting or dragging files and images across the air while using my floating keyboard. Sometimes I have tasks that require so many apps and screens at once that a full 180 workspace full of screens being glanceable and usable without any juggling to put them at the forefront is simply a huge game changer for me. To say nothing of how great it is to consume media after productivity is finished. I do however look at all the vr games coming out for the other headsets like meta and get jealous.

    My VR activity has really fallen off in the last 6 months or so. My piano practice has really taken over my life and leaves much smaller chunks of time and energy for VR. Regarding the Vision Pro, I initially rejected it since it looked like I wouldn't use it sufficiently to justify its hefty price tag. Additionally, like you I would need to purchase a recent MacBook even though I already have one, a very old one. Also I'm somewhat a computer professional though no longer a professional and tend to make use of all three OSes though with a strong preference for linux. But with my current situation with the piano it's a definite nogo for the device. However it is very tempting, lots of aspects I'd like to explore, maybe someday.

Clearly not for everyone, but all apps I need are there, so I get everything I need and more. AVP is the only way I game now, can’t give up the 4k oled 100” display and the immersion!

    Hi Cas, no, I don’t think you wasted $7,500 on the Vision Pro. I say this because first off you are a RUclips influencer and content creator who’s channel focuses specifically on VR/AR/MR technology and content. So naturally you would purchase the Vision Pro to review it, and use it to make RUclips content with. That alone would help build up your channel and hence your business and brand. I am sure you have made a nice chunk of change back at this point from all the views, likes, and subs your Vision Pro videos have earned. And deservedly so.
    Also since you not only use the Vision Pro for your RUclips channel but like you show in this video, you use it daily for work in many use cases, if the laws in your country are anything like they are here in the states, you could claim the Vision Pro as a tax write off and get back a nice chunk of change in the form of your tax returns. In any case you should be able to make your money back relatively quickly.
    I personally would not benefit from buying a Vision Pro as I am retired so I don’t work anymore, and it is priced way out of my budget. I have a nice 4k LG tv, and a mid-tier gaming computer that serve me perfectly for watching media content and the Q3 to handle all my VR gaming needs. I have no need or use case for the Vision Pro and would not buy or use it even if it dropped down to $995.

Plus the immersive videos are great, the spatial photos are amazing, and not talked about enough. And next month i get built for AVP controllers from Surreal and that will open up all the VR gaming i need off my PC. I had Quest 3, which is nice, but i wanted the next level and i got tired of LCD displays, they just dont do it for me and i didnt want to wait years still for standalone OLEDs.

    I love the idea but I'm not into the apple ecosystem so, apparently like you, I'd have to buy more than just the headset. Which, by itself, is super expensive when you can get at least most the way there with a quest 3. It seems like a really cool idea but it really needs to get cheaper and have more than utility to push it for me. More competition here is good but I'm not seeing apple really trying here. It needs to get cheaper and I'm honestly wondering... does it "really" need to hook up to their laptop to have all those features? Could they sell it as an all in one? That would be something to think about but right now it seems to be not quite there.

    WHat annoys me is that i still can't have audio playing out of 2 windows at the same time. It just pauses one as soon as I play the other. Yup. Apple ecosystem only. Over 10 years my friend and his wife have spent $15000+ on iphones and Macbooks. For me and my wife, it's around $3000 for phones and laptops. It's a bit crazy. When my friend bought a pair of iphones 8's, over the 2 year contract they paid $3800 more then me and my wife. That is really crazy. We did the same things on our android phones, but didn't have to pay Apple tax. Apple tech is expensive.

      For 20 years I quaffed at Apple users and built my own PC’s. In the late 00s, I bought a MacBook Pro and have never looked back. They simply work and when they have not (with one exception) I have had a good resolution. I lost count of the number of Windows and hardware issues that I had to sift my way through. It was fun but as I do technology in my job I ironically found myself demanding more stable tech at home.
      The Apple Vision Pro has been the most expensive kit but it’s by far the most impressive Apple Tech. As this RUclips states, there are problems, however, the Quest headsets have problems as well.

      @@CasandChary As stated, you pay and pay for that compatibility and your only choice is the Apple Eco system, so you wait for stuff that other computer platforms can already do. As example, I think Apple is far behind on Smart Home stuff and it is difficult to find compatible products.

    • @TomT-bn1lm
      @TomT-bn1lm 10 дней назад

      @@NeilLavitt Yes, Quest headsets have problems too, but at 1/10 the price. Let's praise Apple for setting a VERY high price point for advanced tech. The question is not "Is the Vision Pro impressive?", the question is "For that kind of money, is it impressive?" Does the $4000 price for the vision pro excuse the problems? Um no?? Comparing the 2, I think at $400 one can excuse a lot. I'm not sure what kind of PC work you were doing, but in 30 years i've had nothing but stable self built Windows PCs, at ridiculously inexpensive prices as compared to any Apple Product.

    Separated battery, not much 3rd party solutions for comfort. It's also more vulnerable thing, drop it and front will already break. Not really made for gaming.

I did test one when it first came out and it was beautiful, but the cost is prohibitive. I've very happy with my Quest 3. I use it for watching TV and mostly gaming. It's perfect and the cost was right.

    Apple is essentially beta testing AVP on the "open" market. It's not a money making operation.... yet... but as the technology matures and practical uses become clearer and the entertainment options become richer and even more "intuitive", Apple will have developed a product ready for the Mass-market at Mass-market pricing. The price of the current AVP does not even scratch the cost of the AVP Division...it's not meant to....but it will start to pull its weight more on the next, more pocketbook-friendly version.

As someone who uses other VR headsets on a daily basis, Vision Pro was too heavy, and the display quality was not worth wearing it while resisting the pain on my forehead. Yes, Vision Pro can deliver the best experience in terms of "Spatial Computing", but a simple laptop in the real world was much better in my opinion. I highly doubt that this spatial computing is the right direction for Apple to explore, and I think they need to push AI strategies more.

      I have both quest pro and AVP.
      Don't get me wrong, quest 3/pro are great devices.
      But they're not as useful all round as AVP. They are mostly good for gaming, with everything else feeling "meh", impressive but not visually comfortable (res too low).
      AVP is worse for gaming (better quality for PCVR but worse connection process, cool and interesting casual games but nowhere near the VR game library of Quest), although the visuals are higher quality, but overall it is a far more useful device.
      When you get one, what you don't expect and don't realise is that you will actually use it for far more than you would a quest, because it's just plain a better view in the headset and the UI and interface are far superior.
