Later, they started cutting back and forth to Chuck Barris, the panel, and the audience, and it was never as funny as watching Gene. By the end, they were showing Barris so much that they might as well not have even bothered with Gene, and that's when the whole bit jumped the shark.

One thing that they got away from on the later episodes was showing the panel during Gene Gene dancing. I think it was a reaction from the network to the incident with Jaye P. Morgan flashed during a Gene Gene segment. John Dorsey trained that camera on the audience instead.
Back when no one was offended and goofy fun and laughter prevailed. No open borders vending Fentanyl or other deadly drugs. Not many had body dysmorphia. Children unmutilated. Ah these were the days. Come back Jesus.
I was a preteen. I didnt know from cocaine. I thought people were crazy who spent $ on something that would make them MORE constipated. I thought the people on this show had a lot of energy.
