- Zoe Poledouris - I have not been to Paradise. Beatiful song, cover of David Bowie original song with the tittle "I've not been to Oxford town"
Soundtrack from the movie Starship Troopers.
The magical moment starts at 2:08 when we hear it from the movie.
Thanks! The intro is quite boring...
Thank you - I wish the rest of the song sounded like that one part - but it just......doesn't.

In late 90s I wanted , strove to find this masterpiece. No luck with all my "connections and affiliates".
20 years passed, it took 10 seconds.
You and me both
I Shazam'd this tune more time than I can count. Finally just searched around and now I have it! Glad we all found the song :)
Same.
The power of the internet lol.
You couldn't find it because it was performed at a prom in the 23rd century I believe...
I can't wait to blast this on Zegema Beach!! 🌊🏝️🏖️😎
Good luck, it’s not there anymore 😂😂😂
Hell yeah buddy!!!!
What do you think about Zegama beach
Ive always wanted to go there
@@TonyAlexander2024Well good luck. It's not there anymore
It's crazy to see how the film missed out on selling this song. Look at how many people still talk about it all these years later
They really gotta bring back this franchise. It has so much potential given a good cast and good writing like the original.
It's based off a David Bowie song, that's why.
@@Goomba_N64I agree this movie was amazing I saw it in theaters as a kid. It would be cool too see the original director Paul Verhoeven do it. His movies have a very unique style like like this movie, plus Robocop and Total Recall.
It's a cover, and not quite as good as her original that was in the movie, "Into It"
@@danvega3785i heard the David Bowie song for the first time today and even chatted with the guy on the shop that it's "from" Starship Troopers 😂
The 'all is well' we hear in the song is quite sad considering its the last time the kids in starship troopers are truly happy. Perfect song for the film.
Wayne Shields I noticed the same
Yes, but they're something more.
To show something about war and the people who are sent do die in it.
"23rd century dies..." that lyric also perfectly fits to the movie
in the original song it was "20th century dies" and that could also fits with the movie since they talked about the "failure of democracy"
In the original song, it was about a man sentenced to die. All is well, justice is being done... but he hadn't been to oxford town where the murder was committed. 20th century dies. It's rather fitting for the film. "This is what I could have been".
The song, "I Have Not Been to Paradise", (a cover of the David Bowie song "I Have Not Been to Oxford Town") is sung by Zoë Poledouris, the eldest daughter of Basil Poledouris, the film's composer. ~ IMDB

Im a big fan of Starship Troopers (1st one) and i love this song, somehow i feel relieved when i listen to this song
So relatable😭😭😭
The final Innocent happy night they'd ever have together. This classic song starting up In the background Is just timeless and extremely nostalgic.
I've always been intrigued by that tune playing during the prom night scene. Always loved the way the harmony dramatically shifts into minor mode during the line "All is well", foreshadowing ironically the fates of the characters. it's only years after that I realized it was a David Bowie cover, now I understand why I was so hooked on that song, that was Bowie's genius.
yeah same, this scene with the song is so well done and for some reason when i hear kylies new song Magic it remind me of this scene and song.. dont know why
Just found out it's a Bowie song and I loved this song for years and I'm a big Bowie fan.

It was my favorite more 30 years ago
This song has such a key part of my life growing up watching star ship troopers, to then in later years of adolescence thinking more deeply into everything.. the coming of age years we all share at some point of our lives I suppose. In some aspects plays out exactly the same as it did in the film, life and loss is about to become real and all the challenges ahead. What a beautiful piece of art this song is. I’m so grateful it exists. Timeless and something I always come back to..
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG 🎵💜
This song existed in my memories all those years😭😭😭😭 and I finally found it
Wish this was on Spotify

Nobody buys CD's anymore. Sorry.
@@telengardforever7783 vinyl?
I buy cds on Amazon
@@telengardforever7783 I buy CDs. It is funny because there are now people dumb enough to buy Vinyl records again. lol ... The reason Sony now tells people "Vinyl sounds better than CD" when Sony said the exact opposite for four decades is because you can't rip mp3s from Vinyl Records the way you can with a CD. The fact is, CDs sound far better than Vinyl Records. And SACDs and DVD-Audios sound far better than CDs. But, the difficulty of setting up a SACD player made that format fail. And Sony was too greedy to let the DVD-Audio format succeed, so it failed.
Starship Troopers was such a great movie back then.
I wanted to find this song, but impossible back then.
Now I rewatch the movie, it's the dancing scene, I go to yt, enter a few words and here it is, what I looked so long for.

Всегда хотел побывать в той реальности, которая показана в фильме. И момент на выпускном вечере,когда играет эта песня .. особенный момент, я бы даже сказал волшебный момент. Baby Grace is the victim
She was 14 years of age
And the wheels are turning, turning
For the finger points at me
All's well
But I have not been to Oxford Town
All's well
But I have not been to Oxford Town
Toll the bell
Watch the days go by
All's well
23rd century dies
And the prison priests are decent
My attorney seems sincere
I fear my days are numbered
Lord get me out of here
All's well
But I have not been to paradise
All's well
No I have not been to paradise
Toll the bell
Watch the days go by
All's well
23rd century dies
This is your shadow on my wall
This is my flesh and blood
This is what I could've been
And the wheels are turning, turning
As the 23rd century dies
If I had not ripped the fabric
If time had not stood still
If I had not met Ramona
If I'd only paid my bill
All's well
But ihave not been to Paradise
All's well
No i have not been to Paradise
Toll the bell
Watch the days go by
All's well
23rd century dies
This is your shadow on my wall
This is my flesh and blood
This is what i could've been

Still listening to this great song in 2024
Honestly I always felt this cover Is better than Bowie's original. His was good but this Is better. Classic movie!
Spot on
Female voice plus the 90's spirit in the negative makes it much better.
I was gonna say the same thing. I like Bowie but it’s one of those rare instances that a cover sounds just as nice if not better.
Ah, all was well years ago before the Great Recession in 2008. Since then it’s been nothing but a slow downward spiral. This song came out in 1997. A great era before the dark times and they keep getting darker.

Love this tune i heard it once when I was about 10 years old when I watched it on starship troopers and always wondered what its called but then I found it on RUclips great song for motivation :)
Dina Meyer was hot in this movie!!!!
She still is.
And Denise Richards also, I had a crush on her in 2000/2001 thanks to Starship Troopers movie...
I feel sorry for her character being ignored by someone she is interested in - abit like when I ignored a girl when she was trying to get my attention in my younger days. Thinking back I hated myself for that.
Denise Richards was at her absolute peak In 1997/1998 between this movie and Wild Things.
It wouldn't matter how hot Dina Meyer could ever be , this was Denise Richards and Jennifer Love Hewitt's era.
It was almost unfair.
Denise Richards is a catfish face.

Thank you SO much for posting this! I've been agonizing over who performed this song ever since I saw the movie when it first came out. I'm the biggest Bowie fan, and to do a cover of one of his songs at least as good as, if not better than, the original is no small feat. The only other example I can think of is Midge Ure's version of "The Man Who Sold The World" - possibly even better than Bowie's. We miss you, David. Hope to still be listening to your genius the next time I reincarnate, when you'll be considered merely contemporary and not 200 years ahead of your time.

This was in Baseketball too when they first play at the party. It's faint and in the background, but it seems any Starship Troopers fan can hear it from orbit
