Great video. One thing to also do is make sure the USB port is set up to allow transferring of files. If not, you won't see the HD or USB Stick as options. Settings >> Developer options >> Default USB Configuration >> Transferring files (selected).
Just enabled on my phone. Brilliant, thanks.
I can't wait to back up all my items on my phone, Thank you so much. I've been frustrated with all the other videos that got me nowhere!
Thank you! I needed a simple video like this.
Thank you!! I was plugging my hard drive and phone into my laptop separately and getting loads of error messages. I saved a lot of time.
Great instructions! Thank you!
Thanks for making such a great easy to follow tutorial!
After searching for a long time, I was so VERY glad to find these easy-to-follow instructions.
Suggestion: Finish by showing how to remove the USB drive Safely. Even though I do it safely on my computers, I was unfamiliar with the phone and messed up. 😞
Thanks for a great video! Especially for the error statement at the end, which I got. 5 Stars!
I am terrible at doing these things, and you made it easy for me. Can't thank you enough :) :)
Thank you sooo much. I was trying to transfer to my computer first then to phone. It was not working. A+ to this video!!!!!
Very helpful, thank you!
We welcome tutorial videos like 👍 these. Talented teacher 👏
Good teaching. Very well explained. Amazing clarity of speech & video.Very nice presentation. 👌
Finally.
An instructive video, simply yet perfectly explained so that unsavvy folks get it.
Also, this way is much better and safer than using the cloud because you're in control.
Why rely on any tech giant to save/protect your stuff when you can do it yourself. ?
Thanks really Informative & Helpful for backing up Files
so helpful thank you!
Very nicely explained. Thank you. What if my external drive has space and is still giving the message to format or replace. What is that mean?
Very informative 👍👍👍
Hello, very informative and to the point. Thank you! I do have a question though, how to transfer google photos from my samsung to the external hard drive?
An exemplar video superb.
Well done. Useful.
What IS the file format needed on the drive?
Is it the same as the format required to backup Windows data?
Merci!
Thank you so much for this 😭
Thank you for such a great tutorial. I am so tired of trying to understand some of the instructors.
Awesome job you're very slow about it and understand everything you said if we have to go back and we can do it again which I probably sure I'm sure I will but well done well done thank you so much I really was very helpful
Thank you
Great video. Does it backup and restore the Secure folder?
Watched your video and subscribed 👍
Thank you
Thanks for the sub!
@@SamCambetis Just ordered 2 SAMSUNG 128GB Type-C™ USB Flash Drives, one for each of my phones 📱 and will be backing up tomorrow…
This comes about because last week a friend dropped his iPhone into a street drain and he went into the drain to recover it. Quite the story, best of all the phone works fine, just a funny scent to it👃😒
Cheers from Lou - Miami 🇺🇸
I do not have the adapter and have tried using my laptop and external drive. I have done it before, but it's not working at the moment.
Wow lifesaver
Multiple full system backups to the same external hard drive will overwrite the existing folder or create sequentially named new folders? When restoring to a new replacment phone, if multiple folders exist, the source folder will be the newest one the fon selects (or will the user choose the folder).
Life Saver!
what happens if your back is too large with all the accumulated photos and video, how do you restore back to the new phone that doesn't have enough memory? can you select not backing up all the photos and videos stored?
Will it back up a micro sad card in the phone? Found out it will and you can back up to a larger capacity one and have extra space to use . Galaxy phones are very easy and have the software built in.
Hi, I will be on vacation soon, and would like save my videos and photos from an micro sd card onto a seagate 5tb hdd. Is that possible to do from an S23U phone. I will not have a computer with me, just my phone.
Can I do this when upgrading my phone
Thank you. I have a Samsung A22, and your backup did not seem to be encrypted? Is this normal. Other similar videos advise the backup will be encrypted?
1:51 im curious ssd can read/write up to more 100mb/s but the time temaing to long for 22gb need 1hour ??
What external drive did u purchase?
Thank you Sam I looking forward to back up old samsung Note 20 because battery life is weak and needs to replace new I know this better than usb drive vs extita
Ssd ir hard drive thank for help👍👍👍🔋l
Is this copying to the hard drive or transferring ie no photos left on the phone all on the hard drive?
Can you back up select single files. Say a single large movie you filmed that day but not every video file in your phones memory ?
Got it finally, had to format my Seagate hard drive
My phone isn't recognizing external back up storage . It's a Canvio Toshiba 2.5...
Same here. Hdd halted the transfer .I'm suppose to reformat hdd , back to Google or RUclips to figure that out.
Hello Sam...Have you had any experience with the SanDisk SSD? After purchasing mine last summer, I've read many people have had serious issues with this particular device. I haven't used mine yet, so that's why I'm concerned about this. Thank you, and greetings from Northern Kentucky, USA.
Hi Frank, I have only used SanDisk USB drives before which have always worked for me. I haven't had any experience with their SSDs though. If you're backing up really important things that you can't live without, I would always recommend having backups of it on multiple devices. For example have it backed up on a Hard drive(or multiple hard drives for redundancy), stored in the cloud (like Google drive or Google photos) and or on your PC. This way if your hard drive fails for some reason, you have another copy.
@@SamCambetis Thank you for your time, Young Lady...
Have an awesome week! I'll be checking your other videos soon.⚘️
When I attempt to back up my phone to the gard drive, it asks about encryption of the data and that I can only access the info when logging in to my Samsung account. Any idea how to stop the encryption?
My question also. Had trouble trying to change password on a very old Samsung account.
My Toshiba Canvio Advance shows up on my files but says that this is a read only because it is formed on NTFS. When I go to my files and then USB at the three dots it does not give me the option to reformat. It only says unmount.
my samsung s7 doesn't have "external storage transfer" in settings! what do i do?
It detects my Samsung external drive as an "SD CARD" for some weird reason?
And when I click to backup, after 5 minutes it stops the process for some reason.
Thoughts?
Ok Upon my back I had an issue the files are coming over as with a file type including an underscore after jpg. So for example it looks like this 20150814_234140.jpg_. What do I do to prevent this from happening or how do I fix it without doing high tech programming (that I googled and it is above me) ?
Ok let me answer my own question. If this happens to you, UPDATE the application first. This solved my problem.
5:15 - when i try to format the hard drive, it doesn’t show the format option, only unmount option is there😭 help😭
Transfer data from phone to a sd card ?
same thing, if it is a microsd card use a sd card converter then place the converter or sd card directly inside a usb adapter and plug the same way
Once the data is backed up to the drive, is it in a format that can be accessed by a computer?
Yep, you should be able to open most files on a computer, like your photos, documents, music and videos. There may be some system files that will only work on your phone but everything else should open fine on a computer.
She said it's encrypted. Have you attempted to decrypt? She doesn't show that the video
@@SamCambetiskey word. "Should"
Won't the hdd cause damage to the phone or it's battery?
Transfer data from phone to a sd card !
Do I need a Samsung account? And if so, why?
You never even said which phone ur using or if it works with all phones or just that one. You also didnt mention which external hd ur using. Links outdated. Everything u actually explained is painfully obvious. Worthless video.
DO THIS more than once so you have multiple backups to choose from!! Samsung and Google can lose your data OR continually backup corrupt files that they fucked up via the backup/restore resulting in missing or duplicate montage of data. You migjht even want to TURN OFF the BS auto backing up from both Samsung and Google.
