I saw one of these once, a woman in the office at work showed it to me, she had bought it in Amish country. I thought it was the neatest thing. I always wondered just how it was made. Thank you for sharing.
I tried this and made the small circle cut first to find a good angle. After the spiral was done the top two or so circles fall through unless you lift up perfectly flat. If a slight tilt occurs as when you are lifting with the handle off of the base, then they fall through.
hallo Fabian great work ,very clever /could you please tell me what sort of blades you use for this work I am only just starting out on the scroll saw, many thanks
Thanks! The blade is a Niqua Fix No 3 www.amazon.com/Niqua-Fix-Blue-Quick-Cutting-FretSaw/dp/B008EFJJCI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398511636&sr=8-1&keywords=NIQUA+FIX+No+3
hola...excelente trabajo....podria aclararme una duda..?? a cuantos grados de inclinación esta la base de la maquina para darle el efecto a la madera.? de antemano le doy las grácias por su respuesta..
I can not tell you what bevel you have to cut because it depends on the width of the blade / width of the cut and the diameter of the wood. You will not get around to make some test cuts.
Hello friend a nice and simple job in the hands of a professional, but I wonder what kind of wood it is and if it is possible to work with other types of wood, pine, abeto.thanks
Thanks, it's plumwood. Of course you can use other types of wood. Pine might be too soft, it could break while opening the basket. I would use a hardwood.
No, as mentioned I made a few test cuts to find the right angle (depending on the diameter of the blade and the thickness of the wood): ruclips.net/video/iiBZmcVq4bI/видео.html
Fabian You don’t remember or you don’t want to tell ? Nice video though. BLADE, NUMBER, ANGLE OF THE CUT, TIMBER THICKNESS ARE WHAT WE WOULD LIKE.!!!!!
+emiljan alhysa I can't remember, I made it nearly two years ago. The angle depends on the thickness of the wood and the blade. So you might very well have to use a different angle - that's why I made test cuts.
@@albatros1emilio I just made this pattern. I used wood that was 11/16" thick for my job with a #9 ultra reverse Flying Dutchman blade. Did trial runs with 5 degree and 3 degrees of tilt, but the rings did not descend enough. Settled on 1.25 degrees with just a light sanding after.
