    CC will always have lots of turnovers. Sadly WNBA does not keep track of women fumbling or being unable to catch properly thrown passes. Once her team members become accustomed to sharp , crisp , fast passes the, TO's will drop and the Wins will rise,

    I live n Dallas and Skip started his career on sports talk radio out here. The guys on the sports talk radio out here still talk ish about him. He was a joke when he started and is a joke now. His claim to fame out in Dallas was calling Troy Aikman gay. He basically got ran out of town, calling the beloved and idolized Dallas Cowboy QB gay in the same town you do talk radio. Stupid. I don’t know if you watch football, but remember that Damar Hamlin who basically died on the field but was brought back to life after a tackle against the bengals a couple years ago. Skip tweeted that he was upset that the game didn’t finish because the win or lose had playoff implications. Dude says shit just to get attention, good or bad, mostly bad.
    “Black boys rock” t-shirts pause.
    I don’t think the WNBA as a whole has much PR training. Honestly no one was watching. So you get an older badger like Reeve in front of a camera, she is used to saying what she wants with no consequences. I’m not brushing off what she said because it was horrible.

    • @micdewitt
      @micdewitt  Месяц назад +1

      😂 heavy on the pause! *through clenched teeth* “TAKE that shi…off before the ladies send our drinks back!”
      I didn’t know that was his claim to fame, I thought he was a decent journalist that one day stumbled across the Lebron-hater cheat code and hasn’t looked back since. He was ALWAYS a troll huh.
      I watch football, he was out of pocket for that. He tried to clean it up, and honestly I asked the question to myself “so they do cancel the game now, right? Surely they don’t just restart” but to tweet it out publicly and word it the way he did when the option to just stfu was right there on the table, he showed his true colors. I always gave him the pass of “they’re doing this for entertainment” on his show but this was him, off the clock, showing his hand.

    • @micdewitt
      @micdewitt  Месяц назад

      And agreed on the PR training…and the old honey badger lol. That’s the perfect description for Reeve. She’s as bad near a mic as Sides is, and they aren’t alone so it’s without question a league-wide thing. I just would think that even with the league not getting much attention before…didn’t most of them go to school for communications? It’s not the NBA, they all are college educated and actually needed to rely on the education for income outside of/after basketball. My 17 yr old son would give more measured responses than they have. Then again, he’s not some weathered battle cat carrying years of whatever fights they’ve had to fight with him, so I can see the difference. It’s like Thanos said, his mistake was thinking he could change the world and people would be better for it, when really what was needed was all new ppl that never knew the world before. WNBA needs a new injection of ppl

  • @franuche

    Another great post, Mic. Love your comment on pandering. Reeve is definitely dealing in nonsense. We could just as easily and in like manner compound the nonsense by saying it’s just another angry, middle aged, self- loathing lesbian who’s mad that some other white girl is rocking the whole league. Now where’s my shirt? It’s all unnecessary.
    People like Reeve need to recognize that Clark is a generational talent, and she’s not just bringing viewers, but she’s bringing respect. Not just for herself, but for you. Do you hear how she speaks about her role models in the W? How she respects her opponents? The greatest respect is to want to be like you. But who wants to be like a disgruntled, bitter, jealous person? Nobody. That’s why her fans throw it back at you. That’s why Angel Reese gets dragged. Not because Caitlin doesn’t respect her, but because Angel don’t reciprocate that respect. It certainly has nothing to do with race.

    • @micdewitt
      @micdewitt  Месяц назад +2

      Thank you, let me start there.
      VERY unnecessary. I’m watching 6’4”Alanna Smith (43% from 3 this season) and 6’1” true SF Bridget Carleton (45% from 3 this season) out there and I’m thinking “send the trade offer” 😂. Take Smith and Wheeler, they rock.

    • @micdewitt
      @micdewitt  Месяц назад +1

      Not sure why everybody assumes it about race when it comes to Angel. I say right here on camera and said “I don’t like players that can’t shoot, and I don’t tune in to watch Joakim Noah-type players get a 10 and 12 dbl dbl every game” and ppl still make it about race. Or they assume I just don’t like her game because of CC, as if Iowa didn’t just play South Carolina for the ‘ship and I’m not a fan of Cardoso. I was rooting for USA when Angel was 1-6 with 4 boards against Kamilla. Sorry, not sorry. And that’s before we even get to the sound bites.

    Mic! Hard to comment on this video because you took the words out of my mouth. Paul Pierce has always been a big fan of Caitlin's; recently he's been a foil for Skip Bayless. I'm hoping Paul lands somewhere good. The only thing I was going to say was that it was meaningless how she said they should take advantage of the moment. That statement means nothing. 'How' is the missing word. But you encapsulated it better by saying Reeve has done the opposite by denigrating Caitlin.
    Speaking of which, it was hard to ignore what looked like Caitlin staring at the Lynx bench, most likely at Reeve, and throwing her arm up to ramp up the crowd she knew was there for her. Maybe it's just me, but the arm up in the air seemed to indicate 'take that!' I was surprised because Caitlin drives me nuts with her clean and pretty remarks about everybody and everything. She gets pushed over, so she says it's basketball and praises the player who pushed her over. She gets asked about all the haters and she says she hasn't heard anything and stays off social media. She gets left off the Olympic team, so she says she'll work hard to make the next one and root for the team.
    All the rah rah drives me nuts. So again, I might be misinterpreting her actions at the end of the game, but it sure looked like she was giving stink-eye to Cheryl Reeve, which was satisfying to me. I got information from other commenters that they were sure she knew about Reeve's comments because she's probably informed by friends or contacts at least about some of what's going on. The commenters said her family used to handle a lot of this stuff for her in Iowa so she could handle just playing, but they most likely kept her informed of the most salient info.

    • @micdewitt
      @micdewitt  Месяц назад

      Thanks for that info Chris, I theorized that maybe her bf or somebody was filtering things and letting her see what needed to be seen, because she definitely seems aware. Good to confirm. And I was proud of Caitlin too for the gesturing, the stare (I saw), and her comment post game about the Fever fans. She definitely heard what Reeve said. I was proud of her "pettiness" as they say, and for having her fans' back in that moment and not taking the "I'm just here to get along" route.

    I agree with most of what your saying but I need to help you all with the history of the NBA. I grew up and learned to love basketball in the 60's, and have played it all my life. Caitlin is not the second coming of Larry because the WNBA is stuck in the same boring game that the NBA had become in the 70's dump it into the big man. Well during this time playoff games got taped delayed because no one cared. Then a light came out of college a light that would change everything and pave the way for Magic's and Larry's. A transformative white player who also was bored with the big man game so he jazzed up his game and made the sport fun for him and us. He was so transformative that the Harlem Globetrotters the only light at the time offered him a ridiculous 1 million to play for them he turned them down to follow his dream. A mistake on his part but the best thing that could have happened to the NBA, but just like Caitlin he was hated he was scorned and people said he couldn't play but what he did was show the kids that this was the game of the future and the Magic's and Birds changed their game and we got the show time Lakers. Caitlan is the second coming of Pistol Pete Maravich and she will transform the game because little girls are going to want to be Caitlin and when they get to the WNBA in a few years we will forget about Caitlan just like everyone forgot about the Pistol but the game will explode and those players will be the Magic's and Larry's.

    • @micdewitt
      @micdewitt  Месяц назад

      Stylistically I'm inclined to agree with the Caitlin/Pete comparison especially with the passing (I was doing the Pete elbow pass at 11 yrs old btw, I'm a long-time student of the game) but as far timeline we can't ignore what Sabrina Ionescu did to pioneer that style of play into the W. The deep 3s, volume shooting with high assists, add in her crossing over into the men's All Star Weekend and having one of the biggest signature shoes that even men's university teams wear - and NBA players. She's the first to really crack that ceiling and also be almost forgotten about already. Caitlin did receive the scorn part of that comparison, but as far as a lasting legacy and taking the game global, I think Caitlin's in prime position. She's the Magic AND the Larry though :)

    • @Theoldonce
      @Theoldonce Месяц назад

      @@micdewitt Not to say anything bad about Sabrina because she is a great player but she is the best point guard within the system that exists she is not transformational, she is not trying to change the game she's just the best at what THIS style of game has to offer. Caitlyn and Pete did and are changing the style to a run and gun type of game which is far more entertaining and another big similarity is that they were doing it with players who had no clue how to play this style. That's my point when Magic and Larry showed up they had players who also had grown up on this new style so it was far easier for them. A very sad truth is that the powers that be didn't want Pete to succeed and those same forces don't want Caitlyn to, she will never have great players around her, you watch they will trade Boston because she and Caitlyn have hit it off. One last point I love Caitlyn but she can't compete with herself and that competition between Magic and Larry, especially the contrived difference, is mandatory. No one is truly great unless they have an advisory who is equal Caitlyn doesn't have that again just like Pete.
