One hint the film drops in the first half that I never thought twice about until rewatching was the scene where Shang Chi had his former trainer on the ground, holding the knife above him. And he remembers all the abuse he took and then was ready to stab him before his father stopped him. In the heat of the moment, most audience members don't think much about it since the film moves on from it quickly, but if you really think about it, that's really dark for a Marvel film. The hero in other MCU films would never think about killing their foe in that situation, but Shang does, which then makes the reveal later on that he actually did go through with the hit when he was 13 make more sense. He's killed before and that's why he was willing to kill again in that moment. The point of his character arc in the film is so he changes from the killer that his father raised into a hero who doesn't.
Also, he told Katy earlier on the plane that he couldn't go through with killing the guy that killed his mom. But he was super ready to kill his former trainer. So that look that Katy gives Shang Chi before they were taken on the helicopter, and while they're on the helicopter and he's looking out of the window, has a lot more meaning.
My favorite Marvel to date!! My man the Mandarin just wanted his wife and family whole again. This whole movie brought me to tears S/O to how attractive he is tooo.
"I speak ABC" means American Born Chinese, so basically a mix of English & Chinese (both the language and the people). I went to college in the bay area, many of my college friends were ABC's from San Francisco.
25:30 many reactors expect him to put them on when he first takes control of the rings, but it doesn't seem to work that way. With his mother's powers it's more like Airbender power controlling them outside in the air. Only when his father officially passes them on to him do they go on his arms. Then it's both abilities and both styles of using the rings combined for the first time. That 10 to 1 is what triggered this message the rings are sending and why Wong and the others could hear them in the sanctums.
4:30 i think that's just because katy is too annoyed at her mom rather than the usual trope (because shangchi made a point of finishing his and taking his dishes to the sink) 6:50 what jon jon meant there: ABC=American Born Chinese
I'm pretty sure Shang Chi and Katy are still just friends. In my personal opinion I kinda want them to stay that way because I don't think there's enough meaningful platonic friendships, especially between opposite genders, but I wouldn't mind if they end up together, which is a possibility. It's clear they care a great deal about each other, however that manifests, so that's always wonderful to see (Also I kinda ship Xialing and Katy sooo)
I ship Katy and Shangchi because I dont see the purpose of building a best female friends then take her with him together to the Avengers (best friends do not always tag along officially). I mean they like a package, cannot separate so Wong took them both. Also, if they gonna build another love interest for Shang Chi then it will be very weird for having and building Katie character. But anyway, I think they want to build them slowly.
Great reaction guys, I can't wait to see Shang Chi back and I think the sister might get her own tv show. Love how sympathetic Emily was with his dad, I felt for him so much as well.
I’m not gonna lie the girl with the brown hair her voice sounds just like the friend of shang shi in the movie I’m talking about the Chinese girl you sound just like her
The irony is that WenWu is not a villain. He is a man so desperate to get back what made his 1000 year worth living that he allowed himself to become a pawn of evil. Also: his guilt that his past killed his wife become anger that spilled over to his children. It was at the end that he realized what he gave up to feed his rage and grief.
Its totally fine to cry Ms Emily😊 i mean i watched this with my gd fren, im a guy n i cried too which is embarassing😆 He's literally a villain with a "gd" motive in a wrong situation n wrongly executed. Tbh, i didnt blame him though. I know it sounded weird but i understood his situation. GLAD u ladies enjoyed it! Btw, newcomer here n HELLO to both of u, Ms Samantha n Ms Emily!👋 LOVE both ur reaction n commentary especially Ms Emily's voice😅 u ladies r FUN! Hoping to see more movie reaction as im not a "series guy" but depend on what shows u ladies r watching. So apologize in advance as i may not be in the comment often. Regardless, i'll ALWAYS support u ladies! TAKE CARE u 2 n much ❤ frm Singapore🇸🇬
The creatures you see residing in the realm of Ta Lo are mythical creatures exist in Chinese mythology. Chinese dragons are water creatures, they don't spit fire like the dragons from European legends.
I agree with you guyz, Wenwu really was one of mcu's best villain(others being killmonger, etc) with a compelling character arc BTW you guys should check out ARCANE (it's about two sisters😉😜), I promise that u guyz are not gonna regret it ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥🔥🔥🔥 Happy new year
The two of them aren’t together and according to the director he plans to keep them forever platonic. She will get together with someone tho, I won’t say who it is cuz potential spoilers, but it IS a character introduced in this movie
"I speak A B C" is how (many) Chinese people answer when you ask them if they speak English. It's a cultural thing... side from the CGI and the wires, the Kung Fu is legit. The choreographer of this film was on Jackie Chan's stunt team, so yes, he did a phenomenal job. I'm sorry to telll you this but the one who did this can't do avatar, he died a few months ago...
No,wenwu is an awesome villain, but the best villain ever was Doc ock from spiderman 2,no Marvel fan can ever forget that amazing performance by Alfred Molina
Pretty easy to kick someones ass when they are on the complete defensive and refusing to hit you. Seriously, you think he was going to hit his own sister? I highly doubt it would be the same outcome if he actually tried.
The MCU or Marvel movies in general?? I think Magneto is the best Marvel villain on film. He has so many layers that it's hard to call him bad. But he still does a lot of bad things
i now know that abc stands for American Born Chinese. thank you everyone in the comments :) -emily
ok Emily Sum i muah u louhpoh u up this weekend

Yup marvel needs to keep everything disney
I mean, the way they show the flashbacks to all the way when he was a baby...there's no way you won't cry

agreed, they could/should have a similar relationship to Steve and nat

Nice reaction. if your talking about avatar air bender, there is already a live action movie it's called The Last Airbender
we don't know her, only the show exists
@@SamanthaxEmily smart answer
Abc
No, killmonger, loki and baron zemo are best villains in this phase
This phase? Loki was a phase 1 villain. Those other two are phase 3 villains, this movie is in phase 4
