Lucas, your video has been especially helpful to me. Thank you! I also use old manual vintage lenses with the camera and since I bought the camera virtually new, with no Leica lens to go with it, all I had to work with was manual lenses and it was really tough. Your suggestions for setting up manual focus, the info bars and all of the other tools that you need to work with manual lenses I was not able to find anywhere else!I’ll keep watching.
long time M and Q user- just picked up a BEAUTIFUL (pre-owned) SL2s...... yeS!..... Oh my..... will use mainly with my M lenses.... but did get the 75 APO (pre-owned) when I picked this up..borrowed the 24-90 to play with when I was trying out the SL2s at my local Leica store.......- really enjoyed the experience- but as all know- HEAVY....probably aim for the 35 APO (pre-owned next)... your tips are great.... will watch your how to video (um,,,motion picture) tips next...... thank you...ps... your motion picture here (I have been "instructed" not to call it video- ha... it's a Leica.... if you want to video- use your iPhone :).............is so well done- information to the point- easy to understand... thank you......well done
Welcome to the SL side! So glad you enjoyed the “motion picture” haha I’ve wanted to play with the 75 APO for a while! Excited to hear how you enjoy it!
Stumbled into your channel while doing my SL2-s due diligence. And hey….fellow Michigander!! Just got my camera Saturday and it’s so perfect. Thanks for the great info…subbed.
Hey thank you for coming along! You’re going to love that camera! What do you primarily shoot? I’m surprised by the Leica community showing up from Michigan here, it’s awesome!

I wanted to know something? For photo it’s best to expose 2 stops down to preserve the highlights. I used to use Sony and I had to expose 2 stops higher. For Video, do I expose two stops higher or two stops lower. And is that with setting the EV to -2? I just got sl2s so figuring it out
Hello Lukas just got the Sl2-2 and I was customising it. I try to enable AF-MF toggle in one button but is not working could be possible do not work on native lens? I have a Sigma 16-28 but the only way to switch from manual to autofocus is trough the lens. Do you know anything about this? cheers Simo
Hey! It’s a great state! So I just used autofocus for really the first time last week. Rented a 50 SL for a shoot and was very impressed by the autofocus. Is it as good as canon or Sony? Probably not, but personally I don’t use a lot of autofocus so it’s not that big of a issue for me. It’s there when I need it and it was reliable!
@@lukasvanderlende appreciate it. The reason I ask, I have an m10 and 28 + 50 cron. Was thinking to use the SL2-S as my vlog camera and M lens camera. No flip screen and questionable AF have me hesitating. Think it would suffice in vlog? Also, what’s a good vlog lens for L Mount?
@@ericrjennings I’ve got my 28 and 50 m lenses on mine all the time, great camera for that! Depends on the vlog style, it’s a pretty heavy camera so might be tough filming yourself for long periods of time. I would check out a 16-35 but the fastest ones I can find are f4. A lens I’ve been looking at for creating content of myself is the Leica 24-70 2.8. I think that would do well and not give that warped wide angle look
@@ericrjennings I will say, the SL system has been my favorite hybrid system I’ve used. And I’ve been with Nikon, Sony and canon in the past. Sticking with Leica for the long haul
I had planned to get both but started with the S because I feel like for me it’s a bit more versatile. After using it it just confirmed that this system just works for me and I love that the SL2 basically is the same camera with a larger sensor. I always like to have two camera bodies, I love that these are essentially the same because I get the benefits of each while being able to have all the settings match. So I went for the SL2 for the higher MP, be able to shoot 5k, camera scan my film negatives, and be able to film both the SL2 and SL2-S
@@lukasvanderlende That makes sense! I actually bought a 50 APO Summicron SL from the same guy you bought your SL2 from. You definitely got a great camera for a great price! My 50 APO is mint.

Thanks for sharing this video. How do you set the aperture on Leica sl2s when you don't have an aperture ring on your lens?
On my thumb wheel

Just retain the highlights on video, once the highlights go it’s really hard to get them back

What made you want the SL2 after having the 2-S? I currently shoot with the 2-S and might benefit from the higher MP’s in the SL2.
