Knowing that EO2 is an issue when buying this camera would frankly prevent me from taking the risk and go instead for a Contax T2 or something similiar. Not that there's too many to chose from at this price range. Cool review, thanks for the information.

Lukas...I think you covered most of the aspect that one encounters when using the Leica system from entry cost, weight, construction, temperature of camera in winter, lenses and the L-mouunt alliance. Kuddos. I have used leica for nearly 10 years not as a professional but for documenting life and family. One of the most important aspects of shooting with Leica cameras for me has been user interface with the menu and functions and image quality. The lenses made to the highest standard and the secret sauce of the image processor combined produce such memorable images. I have own Fuji, Canon, Nikon and Sony over the years. All great camera systems and arguably more flushed out in terms of lenses and accessories. Nikon in my humble opinion comes the closest to the look I want to see in my photos followed by Sony. My daughter is a cross country and track runner and I have captured beautiful images using my SL2 with the 24-90 or the Sigma 84mm f1.4. Under nice contrast such as bright sunlit days, I can nail shots consistently. It doesn't have a deep buffer because simply this is not an action or sports oriented camera. I take more deliberate photos for travel, landscape, family and friends, and just life in general but highlighted taking photos of my daughter to show that Leicas can perform in circumstances reserved for action systems but clearly not anywhere near that level. I own the Q2, SL2 and the TL2. I will be purchasing the Sony A1 or Nikon Z8 or Z9 but sports and wildlife. Keep up the informative reviews.

Dont forget the competitively priced Voigtlander M mount lenses.

Nobody is really talking about this camera it's been really quiet, besides the people talking negative about it.

100.000 ISO overexposed 1 stop... is 50.000 ISO 🤷‍♂

I always have my m10r and sl2s at iso 100 in daylight and 3200 in the evening or inside. Exp comp at -1/3 to start a session. So I’ll give it a try to do auto iso with a max of 12500 and 0 exp comp. Interesting. Thanks

I have my Auto ISO capped at 25,000 on SL2-S with minimum shutter speed set to 1/250. Would you recommend I up that to 50K or even 100K?

Great video! All the places I’ve visited in my van. Love Death Valley and have made some great images there with my Q2M and M10. Now I’m considering a SL2 because the prices are so good right now. How was hiking with the camera on your belt? What did you use to mount it?

I love the SL2 but I sold it last year. I’m highly considering buying it again or the SL3-S. My eyes are starting to give me a hard time with my M10-R.

Is there a specific step I need to follow to make this happen? Additionally, the buttery Log you recommended is also a download. Heading to Joshua Tree in Feb for the first time on our baby-moon. Definitely taking cameras but I'd be curious to hear how you balanced being present and spending time with your wife with the urge to make images the whole time you were there. Beautiful pics BTW.

quite interesting, the Hasselblad 120 CF and the Nikon 105AFD is the same, they are mainly portrait lenses, UNTIL you add extension tubes, THEN they become macro's. Yes, this 100mm focal length is an 'odd ball' only Hasselblad has this commonly known about, the HC 100 f 2.2 a bonza pickup if you can afford it, sharp as!!, the other brand of note is the CONTAX 645 which has this as its 'pride' in the lineup, the 100 f2 one which makes the contax worth owning, so wedding shooters say.

I used this camera whilst testing with Leica in London. I am also aware of the upcoming releases in 2025 and this SL3-S release is the least exciting of the lot…. Let that sink in!! We have an exciting year ahead! Can I also ask, firstly (I do really enjoy your videos) secondly, what you have essentially done here is read the specs which we can all have access too. You haven’t used the camera or really have any experience with it other than using the SL2-S. Do you think that’s a little unusual to make a video on it? Seems like youre jumping on a trend to get views without providing actual substance? I promise this isn’t a troll, just asking in all honesty. Jamie

I have the SL2 and the SL2-S. We’ll see what the SL4 brings. In the meantime happily shooting with what I have. It’s more than good enough for me.

I had this lens for a while, but I am a prime guy…so I now use the Cron 35 and 50 (non APO) 😊much more.

SL2-S prices will go up again haha. It's really sad to see that panasonic doesn't have any new tech.

Just bought one today from Leica Europe. Used. Almost mint. 2 year warranty for 2300. Bought the 24-90 from Leica as well. Used. For 2200.

Curious. Are you finding something isn’t up to the job with the sl2-s ?

Hi Lukas, I completely agree with you! I also have the SL2 and SL2-S, and I use manual or cine lenses. If I wanted better autofocus, I’d probably go for the DJI Focus, but I don’t think it’s a big enough leap to justify the investment. I think I’ll wait for the SL4-S or maybe consider a LUMIX S5II if I want better video capabilities. In the end, these are just tools, and creativity comes from the person. That said, once you have a Leica, you’re in an incredible world! Greetings from Mexico!

Have an Sl2-S that I am very happy with. I don't like tilt screens, though not a deal breaker. Really don't like two different memory cards and that is a deal breaker. Will stay with what I have for now.

Seems like youre having hard times defending Leicas newest and "fastest" camera. For me the SL2s becomes even more attractive since the launch of the SL3s, at least for Photo.

Shooting Leica since the `80`s . Currently film and digital M ,CL and SL2S.Thank goodness for an honest assessment of the lack of focus ability in the SL cameras .Drives me nuts . Still like them though :) Subscribed.

Leica lenses have the AF motor. Those are old and clunky. I’d expect the Lunix brands to perform better for speed.

Hello, I always enjoy watching your videos. It’s inspiring to see your works with Leica, as there aren’t many doing so, and your work serves as a valuable reference for me. I’m a solo documentary filmmaker and have been using the Leica Q2 for my projects. While the Q2 has been an excellent tool in terms of portability and functionality, its fixed lens has become a limitation, so I’m planning to switch to the Leica SL system. Since I aim to work with minimal gear, having a tilt screen is crucial, which is why I’m considering the SL3 and SL3-S. Which one would you recommend? Also, if I were to start with just one zoom lens, which lens would you suggest? (Every filmmaker around me keeps telling me to go for the FX3, but having worked with Leica since I was young, I can’t help but stick with it. I’m curious, though-do you also think Sony might be the better choice for a main video camera?)

whats your thoughts on it just being a more expensive lumix s5iix ? interesting to be honest
