      They were alarmed, not surprised. Just as in tornado alley, they're not surprised when a tornado hits, but they are alarmed when it's their neighborhood.

    I first heard when some fellow down in Lelani estates, site of the breakout, posted on Facebook that the road in front of his house had broken open and Hugh amounts of steam coming out, right before lava first appeared.

    Need to worry more about Mauna Loa. That’s actually a more dangerous volcano on the island than Kilauea.

    Did you noticed that Mayotte region had lots of major quakes at the same time?
    The region is on the other side of the globe and has similar island spread like Hawaii.
    Why is that?
    Is it because of S and P waves or something else?

    It was not the Kilauea crater that erupted, it was a new fissure that surfaced in Leilani Estates. Crazy to relive the footage. Thanks for the trip back in time 🤙

    When I went there and flew from oahu to the big island there was a recent lava flow and it smelled like someone farted. It didn't burn to the road so we could go past it and also it burnt out a while before so it was fine. Grandma lives on oahu so she's fine. Well guess what grandma got a divorce and she's lonely and got a computer virus yee

    Also, Smithsonian... stop showing Waikiki and beaches on Oahu when talking about Kilauea.... completely different island and not even remotely close to where your stock footage is being shot. I lived on Oahu and people thought that the volcano was on that island because of shows like this.

      Too wet. Eucalyptus and Pine also generate flammable gas clouds when heated (they give off eucalyptus oil and turpentine respectively).

    I have relatives in Pāhoa, once they heard the thunderous rumble, they immediately packed their trailer and was prepared to move. Expensive items packed, replaceable items stayed.
