I mean, you get the picture, right? It must weigh around 340000 toenails which is the equivalent to 999999999 nosehairs. That's pretty big. Not as big as the largest dinosaur though, which was at least 45000 thumbs high.

Or a slight hiss on s sounds. I wonder if it's spoken by an actual person, but 'auto tuned' into the voice we hear? Or if a actual person speaks and a computer copies what they say mimicking the tones and inflictions? Maybe tech really has advanced that much, our future robot overloads will have soothing and pleasing voices at least.

What's the point of trying to imitate a human voice if you artificially set limits to what your program can imitate? Why wouldn't it inhale? ive been following these videos since christmas, and im still mesmerized how the narration is completely computer generated. i dont think ive heard such an accurate sounding voice. it's even better than alexa or siri.
I was there in early 1962. I was 12 and we vacationed in Hawaii. Toured the crater and walked the trail on the lava crust. The pictures we took from inside the crater looks like you are on Mars. The crust was a reddish color and the only horizon you saw was the rim of the crater. Very eerie feeling. There also used to be a restaurant on the rim of the interior crater.
I noticed that too....It's like when you are camping and set down at night and just stare into the camp fire coals......It's amazing how they change shape and color continuously.
My amazement at how visually beautiful the light and color of the lava is, is only hampered by the fact that one of the few relatives I actually like lives in Kailua-Kona. Stay in the lines my beautiful Pele. Hold us with your awe and be merciful.

The most wild part is that the video uses a synthesized voice. Damn good synthesized voice since I can hear the air being moved around as it speaks. Even after reading the description, it's still hard to tell except for certain parts where it sounds robotic.
This is amazing! I watched the 2018 eruption footage as well. In 2010, I was on the Big Island visiting Volcanoe's National Park and did see the crater as it typically is without lava but with smoke and steam vents instead. I was lucky to have been able to see the lava flow into the ocean from a safe distance and walked on brand new 2 month old lava nearby where a new black sand beach had been created from the nearby ocean lava flow. It is amazing to see Mother Earth (and Pele) at work creating new land and growing the island!
Honestly expected this to be far more clickbaity and far less informative than it were.... This is quality content. Though, looks like a nice place for an evening's swim.

Many years ago in the late 70's when the volcano was much less active you could walk across the caldera of Kilauea - I did and remember the surface was very warm. Hawaii volcanoes national park was one of my favorite places as is the State of Hawaii - absolutely spectacular

Soon. (that is, soon in geological time.. maybe tomorrow, maybe 40 years from now.) Unfortunately while Kilauea is a very *explainable* volcano, it is not a particularly predictable one. Most of the action happens many miles underground.
When the geologists said Mount St Helens was imminent and people started to panic a bit they qualified that with "we may see it by the turn of the century" so everyone thought they could relax a little, about a week later it did its thing big style, so on that basis it could go any time.
I lived on the Big Island for 30 years, left to clear sky’s in Europe. The sulfur dioxide is awful and so detrimental to you health . The volcanic eruption is beautiful in the way of nature though. I witnessed it first hand and experienced it within a hundred yards before they closed off the trail. It was magnificent. It’s not meant for us to live there. Madame Pele speaks.
The heat of the lava may be melting the "bowl" of the caldera itself, causing it to drain into lava tubes that arent significantly filled yet. I'm no scientist or Geologist, but that's my first thought.
QUESTION: IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE LAKE TO FILL THE ENTIRE CALDERA AND FLOW OVER THE MOUNTAIN TOP? OR WILL THE PRESSURE OF THE LAVA LAKE EVENTUALLY CHOKE OUT THE FLOW OF LAVA FROM THE VENTS BELOW?

Lake Natron in Tanzania is one. There are many lakes around the world that can't be swam in due to volcanoes. They look like they contain water, but are extremely acidic or basic thanks to the dissolved gases and minerals. Baaad juju to jump into.

Thanks for providing the sense of scale on the lava fountain. It can be really hard to judge what I’m looking at due to the lack of scale.

It would take a very long amount of time (millions of years), but it's more or less correct that in fact some islands are created this way.
Iceland and pacific rim islands have been formed this way I believe.

I think most of them are USGS videos, but whoever put this report together did a truly excellent job of assembling them and writing narration.
Is the voice fully synthesized, because you can hear inhales. If it’s 100% synthetic then somebody has done their homework.

What they did was they told it to use newscaster pronunciation. I've been screwing with the exact voice synthesis system that made this video. It's very easy. People have no idea how advanced this technology has gotten.

The good thing is that you are in quarantine. If you were exposed or had the virus, don't go out as soon as your quarantine ends. Lots of people have actually spread it once quarantine was over, so just lay low for a while. One woman in china got out of quarantine, and had dinner parties for 2 weeks. Surprise surprise, now she was responsible for her entire city locking down because over a thousand people caught the rona from her.

Soon. (that is, soon in geological time.. maybe tomorrow, maybe 40 years from now.)
Unfortunately while Kilauea is a very *explainable* volcano, it is not a particularly predictable one. Most of the action happens many miles underground.
When the geologists said Mount St Helens was imminent and people started to panic a bit they qualified that with "we may see it by the turn of the century" so everyone thought they could relax a little, about a week later it did its thing big style, so on that basis it could go any time.
@@CrusaderSports250 Good point! I was only 10 when St Helens erupted, still the most devastating eruption ever caught on camera IMHO.

I lived on the Big Island for 30 years, left to clear sky’s in Europe. The sulfur dioxide is awful and so detrimental to you health . The volcanic eruption is beautiful in the way of nature though. I witnessed it first hand and experienced it within a hundred yards before they closed off the trail. It was magnificent. It’s not meant for us to live there. Madame Pele speaks.

All of that lava entering the caldera yet the level has not significantly risen. Where is all of the lava going?
Filling lava tubes ? There's a guy who filmed at fissure 8 and it was steaming more lately
I hadn’t watched in a couple days and I was shocked to see how high the lake has risen.
The heat of the lava may be melting the "bowl" of the caldera itself, causing it to drain into lava tubes that arent significantly filled yet. I'm no scientist or Geologist, but that's my first thought.

@@bobbyboucher1936 its a computer generated voice in this video...I was so impressed by how real it sounded that I would sooner believe the lava was fake cgi rather than the voice being a computer creation.
granted I've read in the comments its a 'sampled' voice not a pure computer created voice, which makes it less impressive. But the tech is getting crazy these days (I know they created a voice software that was tricking people on the phone so thought maybe this was it!)

Lake Natron in Tanzania is one. There are many lakes around the world that can't be swam in due to volcanoes. They look like they contain water, but are extremely acidic or basic thanks to the dissolved gases and minerals. Baaad juju to jump into.
